I understand that with all the skills mixed up there are too many variables for the fight to be balanced, and I have more fun trying out skill combos than actually winning.
Its fun, but you can't take it seriously unless you're prepared to get really shafted by your hero and ability sniped sometimes. In my last game i got riki (great start, a hero with poor stats due to his permanent invisibility that you may or may not have anymore!), had my eyes on 3 spells I wanted to try some combinations with, and the 3 people before me picked all of em. Quick! 5 seconds to make up a completely new plan with nothing to go on! And that happened every single round. Try to come up with a new plan, require that you get one of those 2 or 3 spells, and then have someone else take them in the same round.
The game before though I got bane. Not the greatest stats but decent int gain. So I went for massive aoe wreck train, and it was hilarious.

I enjoy playing Dota seriously so I'm trying to win that too. Drafting is just a part of the game now, you gotta think fast.

Your rating doesn't even increase in scale with your party members. Say, you have 2k rating and your friend has 4k. It's impossible for this 2k rated guy to ever get 4k if he plays only with 4k guy because both win and loes same amount of points. So practically your first 10 games can be most important games of your life if you play with stacks and care about rating.

If you don't always queue with the same people, eventually your MMR will converge. If you always play with the same people, then your MMR won't converge but it won't matter in this case because your party MMR (average of your MMRs of something like this) will converge to the appropriate ranking for your party.

I can't deal with pub carries who can't keep the lane from pushing without a support pulling 100% of the time. How hard is it to auto attack your own creeps when they are at half health and no one is pressuring you? Have you made a private lobby and frozen a lane for 5 minutes? Its not *quite* as easy as you make it out to be. Still a skill all carry players should have but its really not THAT simple. Full disclosure: I sometimes have problems doing this. Generally when my damage sucks at levels 1-5 or so. Once you get a dmg item it becomes trivial. It really isn't all that hard

This argument would have some merit if we're talking about a rating difference of a few hundred. However, if you're a 4k rated player who somehow got 2k rating, even when stacked with a 4k rated friend, you'd be crushing games because your opponents would be like 3.2k rated.

Crushing is even worse than getting stomped yourself. My 2 other stack friends have 400-500 rating higher because of placement mataches. We play always as 3-5. Point is that my rating won't ever go as high as theirs - not that I even believe "a player is x rating level." And yes we stomp way too much - I guess it's general problem in dota that can't be fixed(stomps). In my case the problem isn't practically a bad one but I see there potential for one and we don't even know how much ratings throw generally. Still waiting for better TMM system.

Idk, i've been catching up slowly to some of my teammates since the inception of the rating system. But I get your point.
I don't know what kind of masochist you are to prefer being stomped to stomping though. D:
