How viable do y'all think Ember Spirit basher is? Adds decent dmg, is cheap, and you have an aoe bash chance every 6 seconds. I haven't really tried it yet on him because I prefer deso -> crit but was thinking that basher might be really useful in games where you need a little more lockdown.

Basher has 2 sec cd and you need luck for it to procc on the right target and get some BF instead of deso.

Thoughts on the more popular quas wex invoker? Been messing around with it but it feels very weak personally, especially when you're solo queuing, not many people want to take team fights early on or during the mid game (when you're at your strongest relatively speaking). Would probably work better with a group of 5 co-ordinated players, but I guess that's the same for any hero.

Basically going 1/1/1 then 4 into quas and 6 into wex in between getting the higher lvl ultimates.

It doesn't work very well playing singleplayer no. What you get with quaswex is control and utility, but much less dmg than exort. This means that, yes, you will need your teammates to help out with ganks and teamfights. This also means, for the most part, it doesn't work as well as quas-exort in solo queue imo. Its super fun though.

I don't see why you'd put that one point into exort though. The reason why you sometimes need a point in wex when going quas-exort is to unlock that invis. But you don't really unlock anything useful from the exort spell when everything is at lvl 1. If I was you I'd rather go 4-4-0 before putting the first point into exort, with focus on quas first. Then you can decide if you want to max wex or quas, altough I'm leaning towards wex most of the time due to emp being generally quite good in teamfights, and movement speed being generally good always.

I just did, don't see any bug.

no, you're doing it wrong- you have max HP already so the illusion can't possibly gain more than max hp

- get health to 200 (or noticeably low)
- activate armlet
- create illusion
- illusion will have more HP than you when casted the illusion spell.

Not game breaking, your illusion just gets a free ~250 hp (unless it's % based but can't confirm)

I'd do it myself but have deleted dota until feb 10th coz exams

Ah I see what you mean now, sorry it was confusing.

The maximum hp isn't increasing just current hp if you're injured.

Ya looks like a bug but also doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

Skip the exort point early it doesn't offer you anything except CS power which isn't worth it.

Try ganking instead of teamfighting. With enough wex points you are extremely mobile on the map and it doesn't take very many quas points to make coldsnap a guaranteed kill on non-escape heroes. Tornado gives you an initiation range that rivals blink earthshaker too which makes ganking a lot easier, and now that ghost walk actually speeds you up you can use that to move around the map too. EMP's usually only worth it when you are ganking something like a QoP and you know you can burn all her mana, but it is also good at punishing TP responses.

I was going the 1 point in exort to unlock Forge Spirits to help with last hitting, but if it's not needed (I personally think it is when you're against heroes like Pudge/TA which have high damage and can deny you heavily) do you suggest 4 into Quas then the rest into Wex?

You need a bit of both at the start. Going 4-2, into 4-4-1, into maxing wex, is a fairly decent build.

And no, the single forge spirit isn't worth it. The dmg you get from one point in exort and even included the dmg from the forge spirit is not going to be enough. You're better off using your control and utility to grab lasthits and bullying the enemy, rather than trying to fight over them with pure dmg. You will also be able to go out and gank much earlier, which is key on quas-wex invoker.

Quas Wex Invoker still arguably maxes Exort first. Even when Quas Exort wasn't yet popular, it was common that after something like 3 Quas 5 Wex, Invoker players would transition into hard-leveling Exort.

Quas-Wex has strong midgame timings with Tornado+EMP, but ultimately after you pass those timings, leveling Wex even further gives pretty limited returns compared to the other two orbs. EMP drops off in usefulness according to the growth in mana and # of Arcane Boots on the other team, so while it's crushingly powerful midgame, you don't necessarily want to go all-out on maxing Wex.

Since alacrity has been buffed to 45 mana cost, can't that be used to secure lasthits as well as harass the opponent out of lane (along with cold snap)? It's cheaper than a forged spirit and gives 20 bonus damage vs 29, along with a little extra attack speed, and your opponent can't focus it down.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The problem is uptime. 9s duration 15s CD means you have to be casting it all the time and basically have to always have it invoked. Forge Spirits duration very quickly rises based on Quas ranks.

Besides, you can use forge spirit to scout/deny runes
A game where the first thing you do is scout with a “worker”. Does that make any sense? Who scouts with a “worker”? That’s like sending out the janitor to perform recon, what general would do that? Retarded game.

Steam seems to have forgotten that I have DotA 2 installed. All the files are still there, but steam doesn't give a fuck about them. When I attempt to launch the game it says that I need to install it first. Is there anyway to fix this without actually having to re-install?

If you try to install a game and the files are already there, it doesn't download them again. You can easily transfer games like that. So if you actually have the correct files, at the right place, you should be fine.

I'm mildly tempted to offering a timebreaker but that just seems unwise.

If you're just going to throw away a timebreaker, why not just give it to me? I'll even give you a nice rare. Hell, I'll give you two rares, which I'm sure would be better than the return Valve would give you on the offering.

IIRC someone tried to offer their timebreaker but it rejected it with the error 'this item is too valuable'.
