A lower BAT doesn't actually have any inherent synergy with attack speed as opposed to damage. It is effectively just a multiplier to your DPS, regardless of whether you're getting that through attack speed or raw damage.
However, as you get items that actually do synergise with more attack speed (Maelstrom and Basher for example), that does become a factor.

Esp with the changes to alchy's ulti where he does not get the extra hp anymore

mjollnir is not a better choice, ac adds more damage cause the minus armor from his acid spray and the minus armor from ac let you DESTROY people, also giving much needed armor that alch needs.

Low mmr thought : If what u say is true, could a sange be a good follow up? Gives u damage, hp and a unique attack modifier? U can decide to go S&Y or Halberd later?

You don't get Mjollnir instead of AC. You get a Maelstrom, then finish your core items, like AC, and later on finish the Mjollnir.

AC isn't a farming item, it's not in contention with it for a slot. Ideally you want Mael to farm and AC later to fight. Build the MJ after you have basher/abyssal for ridiculous attack speed.

The problem is that you can't get a second lightning bounce before the first one expires so your attack speed goes to waste as the lightning bounces too slow to keep up with your lightning generation (this is a bug; it doesn't work like this in wc3).

im still sad this hasnt been fixed. i dont get maelstrom on a lot of heroes because of it

The rational behind mjollnir is that the attack speed synergies really well with a basher allowing you to manfight anyone.
I always thought of Midas -> Maelstorm as an alternative to a battlefury for carry alc as it will help you jungle a lot faster. But I don't see how Maelstorm is going to very effective for non-carry alc as you won't have the luxury of getting a farming item.

The thing is, Midas->Mael farms Ancients a LOT slower than BF Alch.
