It's not going to be surprising to see it actually go live with this. the last patch was crazy but there's a method in madness. there's some shit i don't like at all in 6.79 even now but ice has a vision and you can see the groundwork on why there was a change after playing some games.i don't think you can argue that 6.79 is more aggressive, rat dota although it remains a viable option is weaker, supports are now stronger, the offlane opens options and IMO is so much more fucking fun to play. i may not agree with all of them but there's some solid changes that even pros themselves said they liked a lot more as a result and it's not a secret at all that ice has been aiming for a much more aggressive/shorter average length of time Dota for a long while now. i don't pretend to know ice inside out but i feel there is no way i'm wrong that this shit is fake.

Yes, the last patch was insane. Yes, these "leaked" notes are less insane. How does that change the fact that not one single leaked patch in the last two years has been genuine? What's more likely: that some random denizen of the interwebs mashed together some notes and uploaded them, or that our myhical secret-identity overlord left a draft set lying around where they could be picked up? That's pretty much the only analysis that matters, here. And I know where my vote goes.

But I have no doubt people would be calling 6.79 fake as well if it had been leaked. This isn't fake because it's not "IceFroggy" or because it's hard to implement on Dota 1. People would waste no time in calling bullshit on removing the speed limit for BloodSeeker. It was released in Reddit as a mock patch note. People just enjoy creating this sort of thing.

And I know where my vote goes. the thing is that commentators and pros are given a heads up of what some of the changes are going to be. you know the buyback change in 6.79? it was something fear and other pros said needed change before the patch notes were out. there are snippets of info given out to people that are close to ice about specific changes so i can understand why people believe in leaks.

EDIT: + Show Spoiler + ![]() It doesn't change the fact that people would jump at things like that to point out the patch isn't legit, or do you think that wouldn't happen? And that's not the only one. If he manages to implement Slark ult, uncap the MS, add ranged LS aura, etc. He may as well be able to implement some of these changes.

I believe you can circumvent the hardcoded MS limit by using different scripts/triggers, but not in any other way. I'm not completely sure if it works like that though.

The two ways i know of to break speed limit in WC3 were to enable a cinematic or to use effect-less timed pushes (like with spirit breaker) On December 11 2013 10:07 SKC wrote: And that's not the only one. I've added ranged lifesteal auras before back when i was trying to make maps. its relatively simple involves reading a buff from the aura and triggering another buff to apply the lifesteal. Slark ult i've seen done before as well, but in an RPG map but it wasn't me.

Disabling true sight for towers, how pause state works with it, etc. From what I've read about it people that have a lot of knowledge coding in WC3 didn't know how to make it work without being buggy.

One way to do it is extrapolating the direction a unit is moving. The unit itself moves at 522, but then you trigger movement (think of it like forcestaff) to make up the difference of it moving at say 600.

Slark ulti, if he did it how I think he did is actually quite clever. There are actually two kinds of invisible states in DotA, and detection can be set to reveal one, the other, or both. The other invisible state is burrowed, which people forget about. Realistically could have been used for Slark ulti, even though it's a bit weird and he'd have to modify existing detection to be consistent.

Then again I haven't actually played around with the WC3 map editor that much myself so it's probably better if you look to someone who has proper experience in these specific things.

Then again I haven't actually played around with the WC3 map editor that much myself so it's probably better if you look to someone who has proper experience in these specific things. The biggest bug i had with ranged lifesteal auras was trying to get them to linger properly. icefrog obviously could introduce a far more elegant solution than mine, since i was a relative novice at triggering, but the way i did it i had to set the duration of the buff separate. so the holder of the aura couldn't keep the ranged lifesteal, nor could people use the typical WC3 aura style of things keeping the aura after leaving the AOE for a while. it was inconsistent based on how long they've spent in the aura. I worked around that by putting it on a ward-type unit and making the ability summon the ward.
