Playing him doesnt exercise your technical skill once you have the combos down, it challenges your understanding of what is needed in every single fight. A fight breaks out, do you use your push to silence them, to push one of them back, or to get a ally out of the way? the answer depends on what heroes are involved, positioning, relative mobility, relative health, terrain, all sorts of factors. Figuring out what is needed on the fly is a huge challenge for me. maybe i just suck but it seems to me es is a pretty tricky hero to get the most out of.

he's in a similar vein to me as an Invoker, where i think the hero is going to be fun to watch.

Although I think this hero is much harder to master/play with impact than Invoker.

Use sunstrike on stunned targets across the map. Use Cold Snap on the target you're focusing when your supports come to gank the lane. Use the Spirits to help you CS and harass and eat away at the mid tower. When you group up with your team to push, you make sure Meteor is ready instead of Sunstrike. This is how H4nni plays the hero, and granted he has landed some brilliant sunstrikes (and missed some) the basics of what he does with the hero are nothing special. +1. Obviously not everyone can play like H4nni or Dendi or any pro, but doing this is already more impact than most Kaolin players can do right now. Fairly easy to have 2-3 spells invoked and use that all game. Granted it's not the best and most impact Invoker can do, but it's usually enough in pubs.

And get firstblood at lvl 3 with cold snap and forged spirit. It took me some games to figure what you wrote but it's indeed the easiest way to play him, forged spirits make it for easy towers and easy early rosh. It still took me way less games to use the rock pull roll push combo and ulti spam rocks with ES. And the occasional save with pull or silence with push. On the other hand I still don't have a feel on DK and sven. Chen and enchant are way more intuitive to me.

Like, sometimes you just play them a few times and get it, like me and Luna I really like her in 6.79 too

He's also really easy to counter pick mid IMHO.

The frequency with which the other combos significantly outperform the basic ERFD combo is rare enough that the gap between perfect Kaolin play and average competent Kaolin play is a lot less than pretty much every other technically challenging hero (e.g. Puck). Would you really give a player Kaolin purely because of ERFD when Batrider or Venge does almost the same with way better laning phase or more flexibility? Feel like Kaolin is way easier counter-picked, while you can first pick Batrider and put him in any lane or jungle, venge can go support or carry, but Kaolin is pretty much limited to mid except under special circumstances.
