Compare him with BTS, which are considerably improved over time, also more colorful and more value in production, there is simply no way for Tobi to compete with them. We can argue that there shouldn't be any competition but when there is money on the table, it can't go otherwise. Tobi should have tried harder to stay on top instead of relying "shouting".

It's used by Blizzard, so given all the other changes I'm presuming there is conflict http://www.wowwiki.com/Necrolyte (perhaps now because of Heroes, or perhaps because the next expansion has it's weird timelines they'll be involved there)

If their sites are only mildly successful, they will stop investing and just let it die out eventually when it's not profitable anymore, exactly what is happening to JD at the moment. They have gotten VERY lucky that they found TobiWan who made Joindota famous. The site itself is poorly made and costs them less to nothing to maintain. I don't even know why people are STILL complaining about Tobiwans casting. He accomplishes something which very little casters (or caster duos) can, which is hype up a match like it is TI finals. He got me into Dota2 and many others aswell. I am sure he isn't paid very much (maybe 1.8k€ at most) for his casting at JD. If he quit and made his own studio or joined another big one he would have made more I'm sure. ![]() GO TOBI honestly? If it was TI1 - The Defense 1 era I'd 100% agree, but as it stands right now, I'll watch LD if I want to get hyped.

As others have said, tobi has some much more potential too bad he is stuck with freaks4u. Yeah, I often wanted to watch some (English) and started it only to find out Sheever was casting. Tobi was basically never casting and if you announce your tournament (ticket?) with Tobi as English maincaster and he isnt there for 50% of the time.... You drop him. I dont really like LD, his casting intonation during hype/action moments sound too mechanical to me. He's better than Aysee in that regard (and basically every regard as well^^) but it still doesnt excite me. On the contrary.

He doesn't even try to improve? Come on, perhaps he could try harder, but that's just pure fallacy. I really don't understand some of the attitudes towards Tobi and the views some people have.

Another problem I have with Tobi is that he sounds so fake now. Go listen to one of his old casts and then listen to a more recent one.

Fake as in when it comes to hyping? If you remember TI3, BTS / Ayesee were pretty bad when it came to hyping people up. That if anything sounded fake. I'm talking about games that just weren't exciting at all. Comeh said it well under my post, i'm exactly talking about 'forced enthusiasm'.

Listen to some of his early casts - he pretty much has no idea what was going on, and just kind of talks about the action with no idea of some of the larger implications of the game. I would say he also sounded a lot more fake back then - sort of forced enthusiasm (or at least making a huge deal over things like when the carry had 100 last hits [OH MY GOD HE ALREADY HAS 100 LAST HITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!]) I, however, can't stand Ayesee. Like, not even a little.

He suffers from the same problem tasteless and artosis had/have. If you existing long enough in the scene, people just wait to see you "fail" or "loose your passion". Then everyone jumps on the train and presents a lot of "evidence" as to why things have changed. Happened to day9, JP, DJ wheat and everyone else. It's just the nature of Internet fame.

Yes, this post above summarizes my thoughts about Tobi as well, he has been improving since I started watching Dota thanks to him. I'm gonna wait a while, but I have a feeling that the next season of The Defense is approaching.

Improving doesn't mean learning spell names. He doesn't understand/analyze the game even in spectator level very well. Tobi is never considered as a technical caster but cmon, as a professional he can/should do much more better.
