They are saying "This Dire Tide shit is not worth a response, because we don't respond to stuff we don't announce or say is going to happen. Here is a totally awesome free game. ![]() Valve could have prevented it though. One single tweet or a short blog post explaining WHY there's no Diretide and maybe some hints on whats to come soon. Valve stuff has answered on reddit before... But complaining about the the reddit/twitch mob is just plain stupid. It's obvious that stuff like this happens. People are people and 95% of them don't care what they write on the internet. Especially if it's gaming related.

No offense, but I don't see why you people are being so delusional, I can take a guess it's because of you being inexperienced with how multiplayer games are developed and maintained. The 'community' has became this self-righteous, self-conscious thing that feels 'they' are important enough to make demands and dish out punishment should these demands not be met. You guys should honestly get back on earth and learn to appreciate what you have, 'cause what is currently happening to you is not going to go away with a sympathetic pat on the back, it's going to bite you over and over again and no matter how much you will deny the pain, it won't go away. Valve, as a company, as the game developer, as whoever you think they are, has no obligation, moral or otherwise, to serve you. They still choose to, so get your fucking facts straight and appreciate their efforts.

LoL's demographic might actually be in a lower age group, but dota's certainly behaves the most immature. Valve spoiled the community too much. If it wasn't for twitch chat and reddit, this wouldn't happen. And most subreddits are better moderated. And twitch chat in Dota has been utterly fucked since the GD Studio started pandering to it. (I don't say this randomly now, I said this last year as I moderated the BTS channel when it was still usable, then the more organisations starts to 'embrace the chat' it got significantly worse, and eventually, it leaves twitch) joinDota/playDota not very well moderated either, but still the problem stems from twitch/reddit. It is much worse for the size of the community than LoL is, and certainly worse than SC2. But more importantly, in Dota it spreads to the other sites. Which is why I was real fucking glad to see that they banned twitch memes here. If given the opportunity, the same thing would happen in every game. The people we're talking about aren't people that have been playing this game for 10 years and graduated college somewhere in-between. They are the new generation, they are in every game. It doesn't take a big percentage of them.

As much as we need Valve for their games and whatnot, they need us as well. Yes, if someone believes that Valve owes us Diretide or whatnot, they are mistaken. But it is naive and unrealistic to believe that a company such as Valve has no obligation to serve us, the customers. Their existence as a company is predicated on the idea of deciding what the fans want so to increase their own revenue, as a cycle. With social media becoming more prevalent and companies are under the microscope of communities, they are no longer able to do what they want without repercussions. Just look to War Z; they had no real obligation but due to their non-consumer friendly practices and really shady methods, they got screwed over. You can look throughout the history of games how what companies try to pull are now having more affects and backlashes (such as Nintendo, SE, etc). Fact of the matter is the notion of, "let it all blow over" mentality no longer applies these days and dialogue, communication, or some form of interaction is ever more necessary. Are we owed such dialogue? Of course not; but do not be surprised if there is backlash due to it. Reading through that, I could not help but feel that it was void of any real substance. Felt like one of those, "this is the new 'in' topic so shall just on the bandwagon quickly and make a small post.
