There's a really big window of MMR where people are learning these things, and someone who's put in the effort to know how to manipulate the jungle and static a lane gets a big advantage from having done so. I really liked that, and I feel like that kind of burden-of-knowledge is a big part of dota. I think, if I'm honest, it feels like IceFrog is trying to make pro dota more like pub dota. That's nice, but by making dota as a whole more pubby he's pushing pub dota further and further towards its worst aspects. We get more and stronger riki/BH/huskar pickers, more feeding-into-10min-godlike, more terrifying ganking mids, all of that junk. The obs change did the same thing, because it made it much easier for snowball mids to gank when they were already the scariest thing in a pub game. It makes me sad. I don't get how you drew any of your conclusions from these patch notes lol.

Just like when 2-1-2 was the norm and not 3-1-1, and supports usually did not have the luxury of just being able to pull in 2v2 lanes without the laner getting fucked.

Alliance has shown everyone for months that in many scenarios the optimal play for the supports is to farm out the early game. Icefrog simply doesn't like this being the optimal play as often as it is (and it's easy to understand why) so he put more pressure on the supports to be in lane and/or roaming.

I don't see how you can double pull given how fast the easy camp will die. If so, I'm sad that such part of the game disappears. Chainpulls are still as easy as before. Assuming you don't get disturbed. Or someone steals half your xp.

I don't see how you can double pull given how fast the easy camp will die. If so, I'm sad that such part of the game disappears. You can still chain-pull. The easy camp still dies slow enough to chain pull, it just means you have to exercise enough lane control for the chain-pull to not be disrupted, which means the support has to put a lot more early effort into totally denying an off-laner if they want the ability to pull safely 2-3 minutes later. Alternatively, it means that 2-1-2 laning will become viable again, and in order to pull you have to secure lane dominance first, rather than immediately being able to exercise safe lane vs. off lane advantage from level 1.

Well at least in solo pubs this will be good. I would rather have my supports out roaming or at least helping me lane against strong offlaners instead of them single pulling and screwing up my lane ![]()

For example trying to zone the offlaner but pulling creep aggro on themselves, or accidentally auto-attacking creeps, etc. So either way you will see some QQ thread posts from me in the future ![]()
