I do not mind losing if it occurs during a good match. Like, those matches where there is no clear winner 30-min into the match with tons of fighting, those are what I like. If I lose during it, so be it, I at least had fun. But losing during a dumb match followed by, "take the time to rate this match" is off-putting.
Oh and random question, was the whole "eligibility" addition sort of useless (for those that play a bit). I mean, I an eligible for Arcana but I imagine that in my case, there would be no difference between now and pre-patch correct?

Fear's doing a pretty solid Radiant mid Alch on stream right now. 74 CS at the 11 minute mark, and some of that's from his several Ancient stacks.

I'm stuck at La Guardia airport on delay...
So that Miranda phase+blade sneyking has been doing. I don't think it's that good. Granted, you can build anything on Miranda (as per earlier discussions) but really...so can anyone enlighten me to the ghost ->eblade Miranda logic.
Btw mirana = Miranda god damn iPad autocorrect

I do think people hold "old legends" up to an unreasonable standard. I absolutely believe teams are better today than they have ever been in the history of dota. Merlini is an amazing player but he is worse and worse every time you see him because the competition and the comparisons are getting better and better.

There are a ton of active players that are "old legends" and have been playing Dota for a long time, if the play is becoming more refined and Merlini isn't following because he isn't a pro anymore doesn't necessarily mean he is becoming a bad player all of the sudden, he is just not a pro anymore.

Why would you expect a retired player to keep up with the current pros?

This also applies to everything competitive in existence and not just to dota. It's only natural you become washed up after not putting in the hours.

Are you telling me I have to DO something to be good at it?

"Cheap" 6-slotted Huskar is quite good. Godly mid-game, decent late-game.
Boots (treads/travels), Ghost Scepter, Mekansm, Halberd, Urn, Armlet. This allows you to heal your team mates like a champ too. You always have mana anyway.
Sometimes even skip Armlet and get Agh's Scepter. Very late game, replace Urn with Heart. Against pure Orb, BKB instead.
Really though, Boots, Ghost, Halberd, is pretty core enough already. Not sure if Armlet is still a core with him.

I do watch merlini play occasionally and he definitely get a solid mechanic skill. But that isnt enough for you to play the game at competitive level. You need to pick a set role and refined your skill for that specific role plus refining the skill your your specific hero pool. If you dont have the work ethic to grind out thousand of -cm games to become the best at your own field, you gona get washed out by the new, younger talents coming in.

The interaction between Blood and Ghost was NOT planned for, it's pretty clear. Everything on top of that is just garnish.

I guess that means abuse while you can? Probably too imba at the moment. I mean it's a good combo, and more items on top of those 2 you mentioned just makes it way too good. Halberd and Ghost together really removes his auto-attack weakness.
I did realize that Blade Mail counters him pretty well. When it's used just before your Life Break hits, it drains you quite hard.

Right now he's just about ulting, using Ghost if you get scared, and spamming your spears.

Or you can pick timber... you can actually feel how Huskar turns into paper.
I wonder what nerfs timber will get cause it seems unavoidable.

Honestly, there's no reason to buy Ghost as early and as often as people do on Huskar.
It's a great item, but it doesn't add a lot to your damage or your HP pool, and buying it first item is pretty meh because at that point it's very rare that an autoattack hero will do enough damage to warrant such a defensively-focused item yet (obviously there are exceptions like Ursa). If you're going to get it, it should probably be 2nd or 3rd item behind Armlet as your damage/HP item. Even in a longer game, if you are ahead, there are Armor/Evasion items that you will probably buy because they're overall good for you (Halberd, AC).
Ghost Scepter only really needs to be a last resort if the Armor+Evasion from Armlet/Halberd/AC aren't good enough to keep you alive. Which does happen against certain heroes or if you're behind, but certainly not every game.

Yep played a game where I got murdered by Timbersaw with Blademail and his usual spells. Though only he killed me, the rest of his team crumbled to ashes.

Ghost is too good to pass up at that cheap price. So many instances where you jumped on someone but need that auto-attack invulnerability to get a safe kill.

The reason Ghost Scepter is so good is that it means that Huskar can be really scary with basically zero farm. Throughout the midgame and even a little into the lategame (although you start needing more items), you can solo most heroes and draw absolute attention to you during teamfights.
The issue with your suggestion is that you assume that Huskar needs to carry. That's not even what he's best at. He's best at attracting all your opponents' attention so that your carry can do their deadly work.
