You pretty much cant hook anyone without having at least 2 people jump you almost immediately. The hardest part about pudge is understanding enemy vision range as well as their possible warding position. Just like potm, dont expect any hook/arrow you cast out of fog to hit. Picking pudge in pub is quite a gamble because you are betting on you enemy to be terrible or having some sort of internal conflict. Generally I always prefer other hero than pudge to secure win bc i play on 3 servers with 3 different latency which make learning pudge quite a difficult task. I play POTM a lot though, it just feels much more elegant to land a 5 secs arrow than a hook
I honestly don't find the 5 man doto that much of a problem with pudge if you play it well early game. He's just a bitch to play from behind becuase he needs teammates if that happens to secure a kill.
If you rotate well and play the first night well you can really put your team ahead. Night vision is possibly the easiest ways to abuse pudge since your hook is longer than said vision and makes hits quite easy to abuse from the fog.
He's also really easy to punish someone who gets over aggressive in the lane and tries to dive you due to the amount of damage hook does and the ability to keep them under tower easily with rot.
That and knowing hooks that people don't expect, like watching for a creep to die and hooking where it was if they were trying to hide behind it. Then again I spent years of dota 1 playing a lot of pudge so I guess he's pretty standard for me to play, that and hitting hooks feel so easy if your feel comfortable with the hero.

Pick sylla. Don't level bear. Feed.
Honestly though why would you ever skip bear? The thing is like having an extra hero... Especially early game where your bear has 3 times the HP of your average hero.

i distinctively remember someone praised that build in this thread. With that much AS+MS, you could get a lot of stuff done no?

On bearless ld u can only get 6 thunderhammers, with bear you can get 12, I dont see how bearless is superior

So I think I would like a new queue option preference when playing a mode like Random Draft. I would like to queue to pick last. That way I can pick last on my team to hopefully be able to fill whatever holes are missing. I dislike picking first in RD cause if I feel like picking a carry the rest of my team picks carries. Or for example. If i pick SB first b/c it's Pub dota and you gotta get that hero out of the pool, the rest of my team also picks carry or carry type heroes. I'm ok playing support, mid, w/e to help the team have the best chance to win but it's hard to do that in RD when you don't pick near last.

I'm pretty sure everyone would choose to pick last and nothing would ever get done... Yes such is the risk of queuing for RD~ But it's probably still worth it because AP people pick at an even more stupider rate.

I pretty much never play pudge unless i random him but i have a pretty decent winrate with him(8-2) So i don't know if i've had lucky games or if i'm decent. I don't feel very good with pudge myself and don't really try to get better.
Also, Gaben has a collection of knives. That's his hobby. No need to fight with fists.

I wonder why Rubick didn't get Aghanim Scepter buff like the others? His lore is supposed to be the son of Aghanim yet he probably has the worse Scepter bonus since it's so unreliable...
Maybe giving him a second slot for a stolen ability? That probably won't work but would be awesome. How about even as simple as reducing cooldown or not losing the spell when dying, etc.
I know most of the time he won't be able to afford it, but would be fun in pubs when already winning.

Rubick doesn't have an aghanim upgrade afaik.

??? If rubick gets aghs and steals an ultimate, he gets the upgraded ultimate. Is stealing an ult and throwing it back stronger not awesome?
