Unless there's another jungler in your team, then why not take the woods? There is usually a hero that can benefit more by being solo in the lane rather than clogging it. That really depends on the pick. Nowadays it's almost always preferable to have trilane so your choice is either to go woods or try to go offlane (even if only to block camps). It really shouldn't be the case that giving someone a 1v2 results in them getting more XP than if you 2v2ed. That's only the case if the enemy safe lane is terrible and do not pull/control lane properly. That is the case in most lower level games though. Specially if you block the pull and pick a good offlane hero. That's why it depends heavily on what kind of game you are playing. Of course. 1-1-2+jungle is the most noob-friendly lane arrangement for low level games, I agree with that. I just disagree with trinixified's blanket statement that having a hero that can jungle always do so is universally better.
Oh I didn't mean it like that for every game. It's usually like that though in pubs, since most 2v2 lanes aren't efficiently taken advantaged of anyway.
basically, if I was a jungler hero and I know the 2v2 lane I'm gonna be in is gonna be hard to get gold/XP, I rather jungle and leave the other hero there to get as much XP possible. Better than sitting around by the tower and hope not to die.

Hard lane 2v2 is like this forgotten art that nobody knows how to play properly because in pro games 2v3s aren't as effective as they need to be and people copy what they see pros do. But in pub games, well executed hard lane 2v2 wins games given how greedy people usually are picking safe lane heroes.

For example when I'm lazy... I think treads might be slightly btter, but I don't want to piss around treads switching, so I get phase instead. Or if I want to have fun and play for example play dagon ganking furion, even if midas + shadowblade would almost definitely be better.
Not really sure what you're asking.

+1. In pub its easy to duo hardlane with friends who know what to do (sufficient initiation)

Ya, there was a period of time where we just keep crushing the oppo safelane carry (since it is automatically understood that our safelane carry would be a trash player anyway), game is won when their carry is screwed since the opponent player would probably still go for 30mins bfury.

I could also say, not laning/map controlling with a hero that can lane/map control can hamper your team in terms of losing every lane.
Furion's sub 50% win rate, you'd think if his jungling/farming is so dominant he'd do better. But I think you're very unlikely to win games in which you're likely to get steamrolled in every lane, and you will win games that you're probably going to win anyway.

I didn't mean it to be done every game. It all boils down to who you're with in that lane and who you're playing against.
