Sure it's fun the for the winning team to really rub it in by fountain diving for the last 10 minutes of the game. But I'd rather be 10 minutes into the next game, but instead the winning team will intentionally not kill a rax just so they can humiliate you. To me, this is the same thing (in terms of rudeness) of losing to a 6 pool as terran, and lifting up your CC and flying to the corner. Now you have to spend time mindless teching up to air units to kill my CC. At least in SC2, you still get the win. In DOTA2, I still get the loss, I just have to wait another 10 minutes while you rack up your epeen points. I think the big difference is which side is on the end of the "delaying tactics". In SC2 its the loser who flies buildings off and stuff like that. Sure its annoying for the person who won, but at least they won it and have control over when the game ends (i.e. they control the finish by building air units and going hunting). In DOTA2 its the WINNING team who stalls the game out which is infinitely more annoying. Because the losing team can rarely do anything about it. You can't surrender. You can't "lose more". You can't quit out. You have to sit there waiting until the other side can be bothered to actually finish or for the creeps to do it. And if most of the rax are still up that can take a very long time. In short: in SC2 its annoying but at least you got the satisfaction that if you just persist then you'll get awarded the win. In DOTA2 its annoying, you have no control over it and you're looking a loss in the face and would rather just move onto the next game. Sure you get the occassional one where a team thinks they've won, goes fountain diving and then screws up. I was watching some old Fails of the Week episodes the other day and there was one where a Lich got BoT and backdoored their base; they being so busy fountain camping they didn't realise they were about to lose. Another time was a game I was playing where my team had given up and the other team was messing about and their cocky-as-hell Bloodseeker fed me (as PA) a rapier. We didn't win but hell that could have gone badly for them. But by and large those are the exceptions and instead its anything up to twenty minutes of sitting there waiting for a game that is already over to actually finish.

I wonder if it's a result of them getting lucky their first few games and the smurf detection jumping their mmr up way too high.

I have smurfs that take the first 15 wins and they do not get matched with anything but other smurfs. I am 100 % positive there is a # of games played component in MM (though it seems to be completely phased out at 1k+ games played.)

I am pretty sure that if SC2 used Valve MMR then plat players would face GMs and silvers on the same day ._. http://dotabuff.com/matches/280994107 gg icefraud, at least his game was worse. I wonder if it's that guy from a few pages back commenting on how crystalys is the best damage item. Seriously though, looking at the items, the top 3 players of both teams were new. Are you sure he was queuing alone?

The issue is that singsing - who is probably top 100 on whatever hidden mmr this shit system uses - meets a 0 win player :p Unrelated: Oh my god sheever makes TERRIBLE decisions :D I think the old troll warlord branch trap guide would be succesful vs her. It happens all the time in the lower teir and I think that the MMR just has a rough time dealing with really varied stacks of players. I am pretty bad at Dota 2, but if I play with a friend that has been playing since Dota 1, we get thrown into some wild sets of players. We had a team where their SB and Jugg’s could farm or build items to save their lives, but they had the best Rubic I have ever seen in a game.

Singsing looks like he was in LP for that match though. Especially funny that his team won the game linked on dotabuff. Ok, I missed that part and that is really weird. I wouldn’t be shocked if it just the large number of new players with low numbers of games fucking with the MMR. The first month of Hots was the wild west when it game to MMR and I was matched against high masters players and then silver players in the next game.

In case you havent noticed, everytime somebody new enters the system it will get more inaccurate. The better the player is, the more inaccurate its going to be so every single one of you who played on a smurf, did his own part in making the MM system worse for everybody. Because you probably are not able to comprehend what i said i'm gonna give u an easy example. Lets imagine Dendi creates a new account and plays on it; he is probably gonna win 10 games or so in a row until he is put into a match he simply cannot win; on his way up there he gave new players a huge amount of probably undeserved wins, but is the System able to accurately tell that they did not deserve it ? Obviously not; although it is constantly beeing improved there is no chance for it to analyze who had which role in the game (besides gpm/xpm/kills etc., but those are apparently not enough to draw a precise picture) and therefore those new players are put into games which are far too hard for them. Just a personal anecdote, but i havent had a serious problem with the system in over 2000 games; although there were some obviously unfair matches I understand that this is simply the case in such a complex 5v5 game and it is virtually impossible to find an automatic system which is accurate.
