Also, I used to see this guy playing all the damn time. If he is in high school I dunno where he find the time.
Given that they're probably not even one of the top 20 teams in the world right now, thinking about EG going "deep" in TI4 seems rather extreme at this point.
Edit: Basically, MSS would almost certainly improve their line up, so he seems a good pick up if they can get him.

Regardless, fear + just about any 4 is a big step up for this EG squad. Young is not good. A high-schooler can not commit the same amount of time and there are always issues with travel.

Family, high school clubs/groups/friends, homework, job and video games. it was a lot for me in High School and even though I loved and still do love video games they got majorly sidelined until second year of post-secondary. I guess I feel High School students do not have a lot of time but if you wanna cut everything that's great about being 16-19 out of your life, maybe being a pro gamer is the right move.
I dunno if arteezy is gonna hop back on a team right away, but I gotta say I like the way he seems to be playing it. Haven't watched his stream/tweets or anything but taking 10 months to really enjoy high school seems like a smart move.
Hopefully EG can find a way to manage this minor's time constraints and he does help them a lot. I have played this guy many times and he certainly can control heroes and play a pubstack, and I've never seen him go into real ugly flaming.

young is good for skill development potential. Look up and you will see I agree with you about the high school thing. 17 years olds can be out of high school, this 16-19 year old isn't.

If you ask any pro sports team what their objective is, for practical and psychological reason they will say this year's championship. If EG wanted a marketing team they could of grabbed someone older, or maybe MSS really does have an EG personality?
But, I think them picking up young prospects is more of a 2 year plan, although if you asked a coach he would always say they are thinking about this season. Will be interesting to hear EG's manager come out and talk about their personnel strategy and its time scope.

EG this summer was on the same level as Dignitas/TL.
If you don't think EG is top 20...

a years is long time in esports. but if they want to go for a younger less experienced sqaud, they need to be picked up asap, so they have enough time to play and grow as a team but its really risky. i dont think many consider how tough it have to be to play as a pro. cant just skip because youre not feeling like it or skip tourny friday night becuase you want to hang out with friends.

I hate the term esports. A year has been a long time in professional gaming, but DotA is an old game, with old players and has been revitalized with a new client and a godsend patron like Valve (I never though dota would survive, praise be to volvo.) DotA is gonna be around for years, this is certain. Teams have the time to take in young talent and see who turns into a pro.
DotA teams can think in 2-4 year plans right now and be safe. And I definitely believe DotA will be strong in 4 years, it just a long time to plan. 2 years seems like an ideal number because it gives you a chance to fail to qualify, or fail in the Ti4, cut the fat and come in to 2015 looking to hit your stride.

If you don't think EG is top 20... I don't think they are better than anyone who was at TI3 and I'd put VG, Kaipi and Rising Stars as probably better than them as well.
Of course, it's very hard to judge with lack of LANs and cross-server play. It's heavily up for debate. The point I was trying to make was that I don't think they should be deciding a player isn't good enough for them if they don't think they're clearcut TI4 champion material.

When in reality they lose because they aren't very good but that's too hard to admit. Um well, matchmaking just depends on your MMR. So there's no way what you said could be true. A lot of times games just come down to picks and team comps so AP/RD/SD can have a wide variety of outcomes and stomps. the matchmaker has to expand to find players in lesser played modes. this is why compendium games were by and large much lower skill than your normal matchmaking experience.
less people play sd/rd/ar so it's less likely (not impossible obviously) to give you as balanced a match-up.

I also do AP only mode, but do you also put on solo queue mode option on? I'm really hung up on this, if it affects my games heavily.

what the hell were compendium games? Games played during TI3 was active?

They reenacted TI3 Qualifier games by giving each team five heroes to choose from that were the draft of one of the games.

Has there been any word on when the compendiums will be "corrected"?

Bubble butt, bubble bubble bubble butt. Paj knows where to throw the hook.

Is brewmaster ulty still bugged? Played it now and earth aspect is never selected first, its a pain to stun sometimes.

Part of what made this TI3 so interesting was that there were 2 teams who could remotely claim to be "better" than anyone, 4 teams that couldn't seem to beat anyone, and 10 teams who were all in the middle-of-the-pack with no guaranteed wins against each other.
Judging by performances in the prior 2 months, I think most of the teams that weren't attending were quite capable of being in that middle-of-the-pack.

People that think EG would somehow be worse than MUFC just because they weren't at TI... Please, I'm the anti-EG guy here and I think they would get a solid record. Because they always perform well on Lan, they always perform well against American teams (implying in more 'fair grounds' than against EU teams)
