I cant see it going any differently even though Tobi is really good at rotating in other casters. There is just something that is gained when a pair has experience with each other. way i see it, Tobi is like burning of casting.... he just need some filler support so he could shine late game teamfight play by play casting. Any support will do as long as they dont feed ask the stream "what are you doing with your life?".

anyone using netgraph on a 1920x1080 monitor know the values for the commands to shrink the graph a little and tuck it into the little bar on the top?

I wonder if the frog will ever change e-blade so it can be built with reaver/mystic staff too.
|
what is the current best way to play invoker ? anyone have an updated guide ?
also what would need to happen to see him in competitive play again ?
|
I doubt it, especially since mystic staff based eblade would most likely be too strong with int heroes. E-blade already considers the primary attribute for strength and intel heroes for the damage. Aside from Morphling no other agi heroes seem to use eblade remotely effective.

I could totally see "a Mystic Staff eblade" turning the enemy into the same state as Medusa's ult - you take zero magic damage and have incoming physical damage amplified.
Then he just has to come up with a third "state" like ethereal form and this "reverse ethereal". The third one will be used by the item that combines with a Reaver.
Just give it a couple years and I'm going to look like a genius.

Just a rebuff to his damage.
What killed Invoker was his damage nerf.
Frankly speaking,Invoker is a fun hero to watch and he takes a higher skill set to play compared to other mid int heroes. Icefrog should buff him back. And make EMP hit target while they are on air.
Then Invoker will be back.

I'm not very skilled, but I think the best option is going exort quas with one point in wex to ghost walk since invisibility = invincibility. Exort first because your damage is shitty and you can't last hit without it, quas because coldsnap OP
I usually go ex ult ex quas ex wex ult ex quas quas quas (or something like that) to get 2 spirit, cold snap and rightclick to death.

Necro should be buying enough armor to make you fairly resilient against physical damage even without the Ghost Scepter. Ghost Scepter is obviously a good choice against certain teamcomps but you shouldn't be getting it that often unless you're having a hard time farming your way into Shiva's. Shiva's just does most of the work of crushing physical damage output, especially if you're against multi-core teamcomps because the -AS aura does a lot more work when there are 2-3 enemies getting their damage output reduced by it.
Honestly if there's an item that's really the "big timing" for Necro, it's not Mek, Sheep, or Agha. It's Shiva's. Mek is essentially interchangeable with a whole ton of other early +Stats items you can buy for basic buffer (Drums, Hood, casual Point Booster or Ultimate Orb, etc.). A first item Mek can actualy be pretty awkward because at 12-15 minutes your mana might not be enough to support Mek + Death Pulse spam + Scythe unless you get a kill early on in a fight.
Shiva's is really the defining item for Necro's power because it gets you over that hump where your low armor restricts your ability to eat front-line damage, while also giving you a big enough mana buffer to stay in the fight if you don't actually get an immediate opportunity to get a kill (e.g. you are saving Scythe for a valuable kill on someone who is not the first to die).

I still can't quite believe that invoker was driven out of the metagame just by -4 damage. Thats was literally the only straight nerf in the post TI2 patch. Others were hit much much harder.
Naga Siren
Base damage decreased by 12. Cast animation time increased from 0.5 to 0.65. Morphling
Cast animation time increased from 0.3 to 0.45. Morph manacost increased from 20 to 30 mana per second. Base damage decreased by 6. Waveform AoE decreased from 255 to 200. Waveform no longer allows you to start attacking/casting before it is completed.
Lycanthrope
Summon Wolves manacost increased from 125 to 145. Spirit Wolves HP decreased from 400/450/500/550 to 200/240/280/320. Spirit Wolves now have 50% magic resistance. Those were nerfs. Invoker just got a little slap on the wrist.

all 3 of those were buffed back a little bit eventually

The other thing is that Invoker's overall power growth is quite slow, and for quite a while now there have been a lot of heroes that Invoker really doesn't like to go against. Particularly facerush heroes that he has no real outs against (e.g. NA, TA).

The slight dmg nerf was enough to dip below the borderline of what is possible to get in the mid lane at early levels. And as we all know, Invoker needs those levels badly. So to lasthit properly you need to have lvl1 exort. Otherwise every mid will out-deny you and you basicly dont get any XP. Its also the meta shifts, where high mobility early is more important than ever.

Drums and force staff, both staples on Invoker, both received additional damage nerfs. It was more than a simple -4 damage. Plus everything everyone else said.
I wrote a guide on Invoker in the strategy section that is still almost completely relevant.

does anyone play coop bot games regularly? i do it for the last hit pratice and just to have a relaxing game of dota but after the last patch the queue times have increased dramatically. what used to be almost instant queues are now 11-14 minutes. was there something changed this patch that i didn't see?
|
i thought the reason people stopped playing invoker was the popularity of nonstop bottle crow your reasons sound hella legit tho
