Once again watching replays of selected matches can be extremely helpful in detecting mistakes. You'll be surprised by how many small things you will notice that you didn't recognize during the game.

I haven't learned anything from a close loss years. close losses when you are playing your hardest aren't learning experiences at all.

Er, I respectfully completely disagree. There's always something you could have done better to turn that close loss into a close win.

I have more to learn from getting stomped than from a close loss.

If you're getting stomped it's often also because of many other matters outside your main control, all of which cloud the things you could've done to change it to a win. If it's a close game you can focus on a few small things which you aim to change in the next games, which is a much better way to work on your own skill.

I think this really depends on the hero you're on (and skill build for that matter - if you went aura max Rylai you might not be as influential as a nuke maxing build, and CM in general might be less influential than the mid NS).

You have 5 people to learn and 5 people to study in a stomp. when you get stomped you can see what everyone should have done the whole game, even when losing. and learning to turn around a losing game is significantly more valuable than learning to play a little safer/more aggressive in lane, like you "learn" in a close game. you don't learn anything from a close game you didn't know right after you did it.

But here's the thing about a stomp. After a certain point there is literally nothing you can do. You can have perfect team fights and you're still going to lose. You don't learn anything from that other than you should've farmed more or stayed closer to the tower. Where as in close games if you engage in a fight and lose you can look at why you lost the fight instead of it being "well they had a fuckin 10k gold advantage." More so true in close games because if it's close each hero has more weight in the fight. If the game is a stomp then maybe only one hero can actually do something in the team fight and the rest are cannon fodder. Huge difference between getting stomped as say a Gondar and having a close game in terms of what to do better.

How do you learn when your teammate is the reason the enemy team stomped you? If top lane feeds 10 kills what do you learn? Nothing.

There is NEVER a game that is more than 5-10% unwinnable. you can learn from 90% of the game. no game is unwinnable starting from minute 10 or whatever. its only in the last 2-3 minutes that a game becomes unwinnable.

While this is true, the conditions of winning stard to depend further and further on the enemy team doing (or not doing) certain things, until at some point, you're extrapolating too much for any evaluation to be practical anymore.

God, I really want the compendium MM to change over already, the Rox vs EG game just sucks so hard for the Rox side, you basically have no chance unless the other team is terrible

THERE CAN NEVER BE TOO MUCH SACRIFICE! New huskar is hella funny to play. Sometimes I wish this game were as competitive as HoN/LoL in higher level of public matchmaking. It's like you can be super casual and still be in the 99,9th percentile :/

I'm super thankful that there is no visible rating or pressured Matchmaking. Pubs should be pubs. no one should care about their pub ranking. I think there should be some more incentive or in client tournaments or whatever for teams though.
