But the hero curves out much earlier now because as a farming skill, Blood lost a LOT of potency in exchange for an early-game focused combat stat. If you're expecting to play the hero as an early teamfighter on 1-2 major items, then putting a HoD into those early items instead of something with more combat stats isn't all that good.

You know roughly the range of say a 600 range hero then yous hould be able to double that in your head. Shouldn't rely on a circle to show you where you can go. The thing is that everyone had it. Maybe not everyone was aware.. that's different. Valve could put it into options. Not everybody knows SD says "sa nith ika gluth" when he casts disruption either. Am I having an innate advantage by knowing that if I cast split earth at the same time as 'ika' that it'll autostun everybody? Others have to guess the duration, after all. On a side note I played a pudge game today and realized how much I miss this for placing hooks. I kept hovering my mouse over the skill, which worked pretty well. I could get used to that. Maybe valve should add something like that for dagger and xp.

I don't think lifesteal is that compelling after the change because as a combat stat it's very weak early-midgame. Lifesteal items are primarily farming items when bought that early and the new Husk can't farm like the old one did.

If you're not going to abuse HoD farming power on Ancients or do Roshan, there was very little reason to buy ANY lifesteal until 3rd or 4th item because it's not all that good in fights early, and you don't need Lifesteal to control your HP amount if you're not doing Roshan or stacked Ancients (Helm of Iron Will/Armlet HP regen is enough).

So the upgrade from Mask to HoD gave you what you were actually wanting from the item in the first place, which was farming ability. You need some form of lifesteal imo if you want to use huskarr's main strength which is the ability to stay at low health and just stay static while doing damage. You get more magic resist which is really good if someone tries to burst you down and it's not so dangerous to not go BKB but you still have no answer for melee carries. You COULD go ghost sceptor but I just don't understand the point when you need to auto attack, and lifesteal is the same price with basically just as good stats.

It was good before because you would stay "static" from machine-gun autoattacking with a huge bonus to your attack damage. Getting lifesteal early now means you will still be machine-gun autoattacking at low hp except with like 70-80 base damage so you won't be getting much back at all.

Nearly all of those games are with a friend who pick Omniknight, a godly duo :D I personally don't like getting Lifesteal on Huskar anymore, now I just go treads, armlet, daedalus, BKB if needed, Cuirass and then go man mode the enemy to death!

also inner vitality is pretty good. it can be used as an out-of-combat heal, but it's better for regeneration in combat. if you drop below 40% hp it heals you for 3% of your hp per second + 8 regen if you're under 40%, which is pretty strong at all stages of the game

I always go mid with him. 2x gauntlets, 2x branches, salve, tango. 0/4/2/1 is my build. Then max BB and get heal. My build is brown boots, urn, wand, armlet, situational items like bkb, ghost scepter, HH, mkb, etc. Super late game you'll want daedalus or mkb with bkb and satanic but the game is usually decided before you get there. I've played 5 games so far and every single one of them I've won mid easily, no contest. Usually I just zone them out with spears, they ferry regen a few times because they can't afford a bottle and then I harass some more and go for the kill when I get my brown boots and they are at half health. 4-5 stacks of spears and they just run away and die past their tower. Huskar's biggest weaknesses are his poor scaling, poor farming, and pure/physical burst. Get ghost scepter vs like TA or Clinkz and BKB vs pure damage like Omniknight or Timbersaw.

Quick question for anyone: what hero would you suggest he play for the next few games we have so that he'll get used to those two things? I was thinking viper or drow but viper is a bit too easy with the ult and drow isn't a good pick for someone who doesn't know how to position his hero. Also, neither one has an escape mechanism that would be useful for new players. (personally I was thinking maybe weaver?)
