No man, you have to play lich for 50 games, then play lycan for like 200. No other heroes

There was a bit of veno and enchantress in there somewhere...

Lich does have too easy mana management, no?

I don't understand that some people say a new player shouldn't get an easy-to-escape hero, because then you don't learn [not overextending], but in the same breath say Lich is a good hero für beginners, when he has deceptive [laning ability] and [mana management].
If you want to go by easy to use, let new guys play Tide. Spells are easy, he is hard to burst down but can't excape, and if everything goes wrong just write or say "tide ulti" and the player instantly feels useful.

TBH, if you have any form of voice communication(skype, teamspeak etc.) I would play Sven/Lina or Skeleking/Leschrac or something similar with new guys. For laning there are crazy many details to learn, but a doublestun lane can always just try to kill the enemies.

Same with Lich. I know he's a popular newbie friendly hero but thats just it...Lich is way different to most heroes because he has an extremely easy time with mana right from the word go. Which teaches extremely bad habits about spell usage, one of the most important things to learn. Not to mention he basically has no teamfight utility after casting his ultimate (at least Tide has slow and is hard to kill so provides a distraction, Lich just gets gibbed) which means there's no real "experiencing teamfights".

the idea with lich is not to let a newbie play him 50 times in a row. its an easy hero for the very first few games (like 2). meele heroes like tide are always a bit more difficult because they tend to get harrassed a lot and due to his low mana pool and the inability of new players to use clarities correctly leads to 2 gushs at level 1 and oom until level 12.
the first games are to get the players used to the core mechanics like the shop. courier, turn rates / cast animations (they do feel like lag for a lot of players who come frome lol or other more modern games), unit selections and so on.
after those introductionary couple of games, we always recommend randoming until they are good enough to understand every hero (which means they should play random for the next couple of years :D ). in the first 50 games or so we suggest repicking heroes like chen, meepo or invoker but new players should play a variety of heroes.

i think the reason to start with lich is that you learn the basics while u dont have to focus on the hero itself as its absurdly easy
you have to learn where u go how on lane, that u dont auto attack etc. how to harrass etc.

Anyone know of a really comprehensive Ench jungling guide? Preferably one that goes in depth on jungle mechanics as well as control tips.

What do you need to know? Jungle enchant is pretty self explanatory.

If you get a wildkin or satyr, you farm (or push).
If you get a stomper or a troll you gank. Wait until the offlaner gets too far up then use the creeps spell and block him with the creep. If hes afk at tower smoke gank mid.
If they're running a dual lane get a double kill.
I'f theyre running an agressive tri you should be in their jungle and dive their solo short lane and kill that tower.
If they're saccing the lane push the t1 and t2 towers with the siege creep and use your enchanted creeps to keep their wave behind the tower.

Control groups are preference, keep your hero really far the fuck back because she has like 100 max hp and will die to any burst.

If they're running an aggressive tri and you have a defensive dual lane you should be able to use 1-2 enchanted creeps to defeat that trilane.

Also, I wouldn't recommend lich to a LoL player. They will have a sort of game sense, but they need to adjust it. Engagement ranges are much larger in DotA, so I recommend that they use a blink dagger hero like tide to kind of learn that. They also need to learn mana management (because spamming spells has been hammered into them), so playing someone other than lich is good.

I think lich is fine for lol players IF they mained support in Lol, because lich is very similar in the sense that lich is pretty much always played as a babysit support, you can play him more or less just like a LoL support and it works out.

For players who played more carryish roles in LoL, I think lich is a bad idea. They will not do good with him, they will feel like he is ridiculously weak and boring to play. When I had my friend try dota from lol, he did terribly as lich... next game he played sand king solo suicide lane and owned it hard, simply because it fit better with Top in LoL which he has played a lot. It's very different and lots to learn, but the gamesense was there... he even got a double kill when the duo lane he was up against tried to dive him just as he got level 6.

Lich still doesn't teach mana management, which is one of the main things you have to change from LoL --> DotA. With complete newbies there are more important things initially than mana management, but you aren't doing a LoL player any favours by making them play lich.
The only barrier to truth is the presumption that you already have it. It's through our pane (pain) we window (win though).

Anyone tried jungling lycan since 6.78? I know he only got a 1 armour buff, but its these little incremental buffs that might see him come back. Only starting with 1 set of obs could perhaps help.

The first time i saw lich in dota and that his ult is the OG brand ult I was so happy because I realized I'll get more moments like these
