Only because the western scene doesn't have a long-time dominating team, it doesn't mean that the scene is looking weaker.

I dare say this, I expect Fnatic to place top-6 this tournament if they play everything right.

I think it's too early to call it. Western teams may have a shot but I'm really hoping for a new region ie non-CIS non-Chinese team to win it this time.

I think Alliance can beat anyone except iG. *Can* but they really need to learn how to play Chinese style and conservative. Western dota right now is too pubby. If they can minimize mistakes they're definitely one of the top teams. Everyone else needs to get lucky. They don't have the skill to back it up even with conservative playstyles.

I think na'vi has the individual skill, they just need more practice getting to a 1mind-level as a team

Fnatic took 40 minutes to realize that n0tail's Prophet was supposed to be the 1st position carry in their lineup when a retired Chinese commentator had it figured out at picks (and was subsequently yelling at him the entire game about his item choices).

W/E, can't complain about a Liquid win.

Roles discussion aside, anyone feeling that this year international will be even more lopsided than last years' one? All western teams look like they're worse than last year, while eastern look stronger (LGD is the same team as last year and i'd put VG, Zenith and Orange above them this year). I feel this TI will be so lopsided i won't enjoy it as much as last year's one (and even that was basically salvaged by Na'vi making the most amazing comeback of their life).

lets wait for g1-league before we give up on all the western teams.

last year there was a lot of dead weight like darer, m5 or mtw in it as well as a non trained mouz. this year all 8 teams that are invited do very well and the skill difference between an alliance (strongest team right now) and the other invited teams are not that big.
if nothing happens, the western lineup is stronger than last year i would say. if they closed the gap the eastern teams is unclear of course, but thats why we have g1-league soon (next week?)

I disagree

Why would you play the Chinese style? All the chinese teams can play against the chinese style

You may say that the western scene's dota style is too 'pubby', but i prefer to use the words versatile, experimental, aggressive, and unexpected

And those values are just as important as being conservative, farming ect.

If western teams try to play the Chinese style, they'll fail, they're not going to be able to beat the chinese at their own style because the chinese have been playing it for much longer.

Western teams should play their own dota, with its outside of the box style, they'll be more effective.

No one cares about how "versatile" or "experimental" you are when you can't show the results to back it up. If those aren't there you are plain and simply bad in comparison to others who can do so.

So far I haven't seen those results, I guess I'll be proven wrong when western teams take top #3 at TI3.

You were just comparing "western" and "eastern" styles, in that context results against people from the same side so to speak are rather irrelevant.

they are big fishes in a small pond
it's like korea vs the rest of the world in stacraft,no one gives a shit that you are the best in NA because a korean B teamer will rape you any day 9/10 times.
Until liquid and alliance meet asians at a lan it's kinda pointless to talk about how good they are
fyi I want liquid to do good and wish them all the best but personally I think TI3 and G1 will be a disgusting beat down for every team from the west lol

I think everyone underrates the western scene by a ton. -.-

vg plays a style similiar to the europeans (hey they pick wisp!) and just demolished lgd.cn in the super league. that said, i dont think there is that huge of a difference in playstyles.

Predictions on Empire v DD? Empire 59 % bets on the lounge. I've betted against them ever since their redraft, aren't these odds pretty obscure for a team consistently fucking everything up?

Western teams do mistakes, Chinese don't. Also western seems one level below of top SEA and chinese teams and even 2 level below of IG. Navi is definitely weaker now so I don't expect any solid results from western teams in TI3. Also Alliance and Liquid hype will end when solid Chinese play appears. Results probably will be IG> Chinese & SEA > West. I'd be surprised if any west team drags beyond quarter.

I think Fnatic, TL and Alliance have a shot at placing at least top4.

havent seen DD yet but their new roster looks pretty good.
Empire did not perform at all in the last few games i saw. (i think they lost every single game, but i dont think i watched all their games in the last 2 or 3 weeks)
