My 30 win smurf gets placed in very high against people ranging from 300-600 wins. And before I played people with the same amount of wins as me varying from high-very high +- 10 wins.
Basically, my conclusion is that they don't separate players based on amount of games in the solo queue like they do in normal. This is probably because they expected that less players would queue it, so it may be harder to find 10 people with very high mmr taht have 30 wins.
Edit: I've found an eric tams post on dev dota that states number of games played is a factor in mming. I think this factor is small, and matters less as your rating gets to the top levels. i feel like the solo queue doesn't use this factor.

I personally do not recommend that. Big icons tend to overlap which can be annoying and deceiving.

I recommend it. Works for me 100x better than the default size. A lot easier to track slight movements that pop up across wards.

I've been playing support for the past week now with my buddies and I'm usually the guy who takes charge w/ 1 or 2, being a 4 or 5 sucks. I get so bored so easy.. does anyone have an issue with that? I feel like supporting is so boring..

Personally I find playing 1 boring as shit. I'd much rather play 5 than 1 myself. IMO a good support can affect the game way more and call shots better since you get more of the big picture.

I dislike supporting as well but have friends who love it because they like to control the pace of the match early-mid game. Different roles suit different people etc.

depends really its different for everyone i personally find playing 1/2 boring as shit and would rather play support or offlane cuz theres more interesting things required of me instead of right clicking stuff for a while the 1a later
i would harbor a guess and say if you think supporting is boring you may not be doing all you could be in the lane phase

If you sit in the lane for 15 minutes doing nothing then it's probably boring. I suggest you should go roaming, gank someone, etc. Try to play Chen.

Playing purely laning supports can be boring, but it's also really unreliable in pubs because you're basically banking on your carry not sucking. If you're roaming and ganking, you only need one of the other 4 people on your team to be good to snowball the game (if one of the solos knows what they're doing you snowball their lane, and if the other support is good, the two of you just run around killing all 3 lanes over and over again).
EDIT: The same goes for playing 1 really. Something like AM or PL that spends half the game split-pushing can also be boring, and your team is likely to just lose the game without you. But there's a lot of good safe lane farmers that gank and teamfight just as much as the solos (CK, Tiny, Slardar, etc.) and those guys are generally more reliable for carrying pubs anyway.

chen is really fun for support, tower pushing, and constant ganking is pretty boss. i also like shadow demon, saving people with a good disruption is so satisfying.

Some people dislike the support role, nothing wrong with that, but maybe you're not playing it optimally?
Personally I love to play support since it's so dynamic. As a 1 or 2, the early game is ridiculously boring since you do NOTHING but last hit in lane, exactly the same every game. Some games you lose before you get fat, sometimes you win before you get fat, so you played a last hit bot for 20 minutes. Some other games, you finally get fat and get to destroy people, at which point it's often obvious if you will win or not.
As a support, you will sometimes do very little and spend the whole game as a weak ward bitch to be sure, but oftentimes, you get to try different things (this game I should pull a lot, this game I should focus on ganking top lane, this game I should be really aggressive in lane) and usually feel like you're affecting the game at a point where it's still up in the air and even. Playing babysit Lich is probably the most boring support role you can take... everything else is kind of awesome. Just make sure to pick supports which can make plays happen.

Roles discussion aside, anyone feeling that this year international will be even more lopsided than last years' one? All western teams look like they're worse than last year, while eastern look stronger (LGD is the same team as last year and i'd put VG, Zenith and Orange above them this year). I feel this TI will be so lopsided i won't enjoy it as much as last year's one (and even that was basically salvaged by Na'vi making the most amazing comeback of their life).

The western teams just look weaker because Na'Vi doesn't dominate like they used to. It kinda feels like the very top tier (aka Navi) just got cut off and now we're left with the rest.

People put Zenith above LGD last year too. They forgot how hard SEA teams choke on LAN.
LGD may look vulnerable now, but they are a very stably performing team on LAN. By contrast, VG has only one player who's even ever been to foreign LANs (ZSMJ), and Zenith and Orange both have players that have track records of heavily underperforming in major LANs.
There's just the matter of them GETTING to TI3. If they get there, they'll be fine.

Yeah Zenith Choked hard, but i think Yamateh> Loda and also they got quite a bit of experience from last year. If we get one non-sea/chinese team in Top5 i'll be surprised.
