TBH it's pretty funny to play Razor with maxed Unstable Current against Skywrath Mage.

Unfortunately, then the problem is you're playing a Razor with maxed Unstable Current.

You should do a private lobby where you select the hero then quit. So when you queue the hero selection will be on the hero in question by default.

you can also have your fingers on the "s, k, and y" keys, and immediately type "sky" which will bring you to him just as fast. idk, your way is faster probably.

Our Front Page Preview is going out tomorrow. We generally release those 1-2 days before an event. At some point either a staff member or a community member will add it on the calendar as well.

Didn't get to try out Skywrath before, is this a hero that will be mass picked every game?

Like how Drow/BH is?

Probally won't be the next Drow/Pudge. At first, yeah, just like any new hero, but I don't think it will be anything that out of ordinary in pubs.

Sorry if it's already been discussed before, but for the longest time I was curious as to why Huskar wasn't - and isn't - picked competitively, even in pocket strats. The way I see it, he's a perfect carry/semi-carry in team-fight based drafts. First of all, his spear makes him a strong laner with support, since he can harass the enemy melee carry (if melee of course). His passive is perfect for 3v3 (and later, 5v5) situations because early bonus damage rocks in early clashes. His heal is amazing at early levels, and if you go for just 1 lvl spear and get stats it gets even better. His ult starts you off at an advantage vs at least one enemy hero. And then the items: Armlet seems built for him (in the same way I felt that Armlet was also perfect for Skeleton King when he and naix were the flavor of the month carries in WC3 dota). Helm of Dominator into Satanic is perfect for him. BKB is perfect for him when he initiates. Then you can easily improvise the rest of your items depending on the team's needs. And at the end of the day, he's a strength carry so you have that staying power with his HP. He also synergizes with aura teams. He can solo Rosh almost as early as Lycan/Ursa can.

Just really wondering why he hasn't been explored all that often as a carry.

Extremely weak in the laning phase because terrible attack range, unable to split push or push anything on his own, no form of control other than his ulti, no escape mechanisms and no aoe nukes, and is easily kitable. Definitely not carry material on his own, and his heal is really terrible early on if you have to compare it to juggernaut's healing ward anyway. Surely you can't be basing your game plan off solo-ing roshan.

People dont like to rely on a skill set that based on your HARD carry losing life in order to deal damage and win teamfight. Plus right now drafting involve BKB disablers like Mag, Bane which will completely shut down huskar in any sort or form. In a sense, if you could win a game with huskar, you should be able to get the same win with any other common carry pick.

I kinda feel the same way, but here's my line of thinking:

All those items you said are really good on him, while that's true, another way of thinking is that he really NEEDS those items.

He absolutely needs bkb, otherwise ulting in is suicide against a coordinated team. Even then, there are so many strong heroes with bkb-piercing ults that can still help take him down.

On top of that, he really needs treads, helm, armlet, etc. But he doesn't have any special farming tool aside from right-clicking creeps one at a time. On top of that, while his skill set is cool, I can't say that it's as strong as the skill set of other strength carries like Naix or CK who don't suffer from the absolute need for core items before he's a complete liability, or at least not as much cost to their core before they come online.

Essentially, the same problem as so many carries seem to have and why they're never played: there are a few heroes (Naix, CK, Gyro, PL, AM, Luna, probably a couple others I'm forgetting) that just trump them in very meaningful ways in most common situations. The latter 4 I mentioned can farm much faster than Huskar, without even discussing the strength of their abilities. Naix and CK farm equally fast, but come online quicker and/or have better skill sets. CK has an incredible stun, displacement, and ult and a passive crit which adds considerable, relatively reliable damage in conjunction with his ult and reality rift. Naix has the all-important bkb built-in, as well as a %-based damage and life gain, and 2 escape/gank abilities.

Of course, I don't think Huskar is bad. I just think that the way things are played now, he's gotta be played carefully. I consider him a strong snowball hero in the case where the opponent's lineup isn't prepared for such an unexpected pick, similar to Ursa. And at that point, Huskar has to compete with pretty much every other carry in the game. Why not Ursa?

The attack range isn't that big a deal to be honest, and I agree he can't split push to save his life. He's really a hero-killing type of carry though, like drow. I do think he scales well into the late game with items, and if Spectre is a viable hero (with more team fighting but less laning/1v1ing), I don't see why Huskar can't be an alternative.

In my opinion, he is easy to counter-pick and other carries can do what he does but better with less risk. You only would pick him for mid-game carry potential but you have flavor carries like Gyro and Luna that fill that role but much better (they also have fantastic pushing abilites, something huskar does not have). Also, being able to solo rosh is not really a thing in pro games. A 4 or 5 will constantly keep the rosh pit warded and will actively check when you are mia.

Attack range is a pretty big deal when you're facing an aggressive tri-lane, and you're lacking a form of disable/nuke yourself, meaning that you're bound to get jumped on way too easily while having 0 cs the whole time. Spectre actually has dagger which is both a slow and an escape tool, and his ulti actually deals a disproportionate amount of damage the later the game goes, not to mention that she's dealing aoe dmg consistently with dispersion.

Huskar is a pocket pick but only in the form of Dazzle + Huskar (it's been banned by a few times and tried a few times a long time ago). Also now that burning spear is actually 450 instead of 425 range (his base) he does better in lane

if you disable and burst huskar he literally does nothing. In fact it's easier to disable and burst him since if he ults you he drops to half health. His heal is his only utility and he's forced generally to use it on himself.

Look at other popular midgame fighting carries: gyro, luna, sylla, naix, juggernaut, lycan, ursa (KP I'm looking at you). They all offer more in all ways. Gyro and luna do a lot of AoE damage. They share some early game weaknesses with huskar because of range and squishiness, but they make up for it with better scaling and utility. They both do more magical damage, they both push better, and they both carry harder. Sylla is a much better laner, is more versatile, pushes harder, is harder to shut down, is tankier, and carries harder. Naix has a free BKB, has more utility in fights with teammates, is much more elusive, and simply does more damage at all stages of the game. Juggernaut operates similarly to naix, though to a lesser extent and with more emphasis on pushing. Lycan is a much better pusher and shares some early weaknesses but has much more utility and can capitalize on weakness more easily. Ursa simply offers the most physical damage possible in a short time frame and punishes mistakes probably harder than any of the other carries on this list. He does what Huskar seems like he's supposed to do but better.

Then look at the other carries that are picked: the ones like AM, void, alchemist, PL, spectre, and clinkz. All of these are better suited for free farm lanes because they carry harder and push harder than huskar. They utilize the farm better and are more worthy of the protection they usually need.

Also almost all of these carries have some sort of reliable survivability mechanic that exceeds huskar's. The only real exceptions are those carries that either push or carry harder than huskar, which means that they can be protected and will have a bigger impact anyway.
