Don't expect it to change, Totalbiscuit just posted a video of him as slark going for max pounce first build too. :p Its not about maxing pounce LOL, its about having no points in dark pact. (Whether one should max dp or pounce first depends on the matchup, i prefer pounce in the most cases) Well, maxing pounce doesn't really make sense either, but way better than taking multiple levels of Shift Why would maxing pounce not make sense ? Mobility is king and the cd reduction is pretty huge which allows you to kill people and still escape with pounce (not possible with a 20 seconds cd). edit: not to ignore the fact that in most cases, you wont have enough RAW HP to use dp level 4 on lvl 7 in most cases I've never been in a position before mid game that i need to pounce quicker than the lvl 1 CD
I think this is a flat out lie, if i hadn't limited time i would check your replays and find approximately over 9000 situations where a shorter cd on pounce would have given u a kill or safed u a death.
Beeing able to jungle faster when maxing dp is also a really weak argument, slark isnt the hero to farm the jungle and also doesnt really have the mana unless you build manaitems which are besides Drum/Vlads pretty subpar. (Although Orchid is a valid option) Even if Slark didnt have manaproblems while jungling with dp, why would u play slark, i dont know why u would pick this hero to farm the jungle "and be a looming threat". This hero is not about farming, he's about killing really early to snowball out of control, because else he will be totally useless when teamfights break out. (Farming the jungle ultrafast with your dp first build for the big items doesnt change that)

It's not jungling. You go gank a hero then you vanish into the jungle. They don't know what lane you are in, they have no idea where you are. Then you go kill another lane. It's about vision control. If the enemy can't predict your movements you are able to be more effective.
You can't just make up numbers. I've had times where I haven't been limited by pounce cooldown and times where I have been. There have been times where I was limited by pact and times I haven't been. Just claiming facts that you can't back up are pointless.

So do you just do nothing after you gang a lane in order to be out of vision?

And where is maxing dp over pounce changing anything in that procedure (besides you beeing less mobile and beeing unable to get a kill when missing pounce once ) ? well maxing DP gives you less mana issues (since it reduces in cost), as well as giving you far more money than running around with pounce. if you don't have maxed DP you can't really be efficient in clearing camps from gank to gank. you end up behind in levels if they have any tp support at all and then you become squishy mcuseless
Also who misses pounces?

you can just push lanes or jungle if you max dp first if you max pounce first you have to go gank or farm slowly i'm pretty sure dp is the way to go, at least in pubs since there's so much farm that isn't farmed and you can just take a bunch of it

I dont know whether you have like a blink hack or smth like that, but it takes time to run from lane to lane and just scouting wards + that takes away most of the time. (All of these arguments are even ignoring the fact that you will have SOMEONE on your team who gets a lot more out of farming the jungle than you and is faster too)
edit:
you end up behind in levels if they have any tp support at all and then you become squishy mcuseless
thats a really interesting fact, i thought slark is rediculously op and an unstoppable killing machine i would like to quote myself

I think you are confused. You think we mean a slark is going to go sit in the jungle and just farm it for awhile. Which is not at all what we are saying. It's about maximizing your time efficiently. In between killing you should be farming and it's just better to do that with maxing pact.
Also if you have vision you can often times tell where the enemy team has planted their vision by just noting inventory of supports. I highly down any supports in pubs smoke to ward.

I don't see why anyone would not want to have a point in each spell by lvl 6 with slark. Unless there are some very special circumstances. The "self-purge" with dark pact has saved me a lot of times with slark, though leveling it higher can cause you to take too much damage early. But the possibility to remove dust/track/slows/stuns etc. for 25 hp is just invaluable, especially when comboed with your ult. For me, this clearly beats the +15 duration for lvl 2 essence shift.

slark is one of the fastest farmers in the game

(Farming the jungle ultrafast with your dp first build for the big items doesnt change that) Gank opportunities are not instant. You can't just be at a lane and expect there to be instantly a kill opportunity. If that's the case, then you're playing terrible pubs that overextend 100% of the time.
Being able to jungle means that you can farm the jungle in the vicinity of a lane, wait for an opportunity to appear, and then go on it. As opposed to having to sit off to the side doing nothing until the opportunity appears.

If you aren't farming between killing you just fall behind. That's the whole idea behind pact max builds. You aren't a bounty hunter that can farm evenly by just waiting for track kills

slark's faster than am naked it's honestly pretty close, it depends what slark buys edit: yes it's awful but bfury slark does farm faster than bfury am

Yeah until the Bfury slark waaaay outfarms him. once he gets it they are pretty identical at least when comparing the 3 camps clustered on radiant, am wins in general because blinking is faster than 522 movespeed.but they clear camps in roughly the same amount of time between befury am and slark. not many people clear faster than those two.
