Spend most of the day playing supports. I have marginal success as far as supports go (2-4-8 kind of games), but lose most of the games. Next game someone slams sven (the guy I was going to try next) so I say "fuck it" and random slark. End up going 22-2-15. The game after I random riki and go 21-1-5 (the 1 came when I tower dove on a full health drow/luna/void to see if I could. Got 2 of them.)
Why are these assassin heroes in the game? I'm sure my opponents weren't having fun, and it was so easy it was hardly fun for me. Even if my opponents were doing the right things with wards and gems, it really doesn't fix much. I would be completely stonewalled (not fun) and my opponents are forced into defensive actions akin to busy work. I just don't understand the point of slark/riki/bh from a design perspective. Both heroes you mentioned(Well slark anyway) are utter shit, riki has his uses but isn't that great of a hero. Bounty hunters invisibility isn't even his best ability. If you're stomping people with those heroes, the people you are against have no clue as to what they're doing, especially vs slark.

Gyro should really be credited to the West, whether China uses him or not. Just like Dragon Knight is properly credited to SEA even though he was huge in Chinese DotA for the better part of a year. Again, it's not exactly a secret that China takes elements of play from other parts of the world. What's rarer in China than the West is a wholesale upheaval of playstyle based on goings-on elsewhere, similar to what happened in the West after G-1 finals. I'm not doubting that the West borrows heavily from China. They do. However, since Gleague has ended, the West still develops - it hasn't been completely stagnant since the break. Gyro is one of those changes, and he's pretty independent from China. I feel like we're not on the same page because I never contested that point. Nobody's saying that Western DotA doesn't develop without Chinese DotA. NO YOUR MOTHER IS BAD AT LAST HITTING

Slark and Riki are both good pub heroes.
I don't mean this in the sense that they're good against players who don't play correctly--I mean this based on the fact that solo-killing ability and the suffocating presence of an invisible hero are inherently stronger in pubs due to the individualistic nature of pubs.

Well, obviously, but neither of them are impossible to deal with at all. They're both leagues better in pub than they are in competitive settings. For obvious reasons.
|
you can buy a gem of invisibility and it auto reveals the invis heroes near to you
|
Common mis-conception: Gem and true sight doesn't render heroes with invisbility useless(Well it handicaps slark heavily) but riki can still kill and fight quite well in the mid-game. Riki and shadow demon is an amazing(and fun) combo against anti-mage in pubs.

People are averse to gems often, it drives me crazy.

Seems like i'm only getting decent games on -AR when my teams gets support heroes only and the enemy team gets whatever. Getting these kind of line-up seem to motivate people to gank/play with team/push faster.

Right, but my point is "bad against more advanced players" and "bad against organized teams" are not the same thing.
Neither hero is invalidated just because your opponents are good. They're invalidated by coordination and strong 5-man play, which isn't a given even when the individual skill of the game is high. Slark is still considered a strong pub pick even in high level Chinese pubs (Riki isn't but that has largely to due with other weaknesses of the hero rather than "invisibility sucks against players who aren't retarded").

the point wasn't that assassins are stupidly strong. The point was that they are either stupidly strong (not fun for those playing), or complete shit (not fun for those playing). When are they fun?

And I am pretty sure that a low level riki is better in low level pubs than a mid/high level riki in mid/high level pubs

I agree entirely on this. But i personally find riki to be stronger than slark overall, might be due to how different(From what i have seen) pubs in chinese dota is compared to eu. But to me slark is just meh and i find him quite easy to handle. I generally stack with friends which might affect how i see these heroes, but yea.
'Assasins' as you call it are heroes that rely on snowballing, they have to do well repeatedly to do well and stopping them early handicaps them heavily(Like how shutting down a blood seeker in his laning phase somehow will cripple the hero heavily.)
@Above, that's hilarious.

If a Gyro has a MKB with activated true strike and activates flak cannon: Will he only have truestrike on his maintarget or also on all the other targets being hit by flak cannon?

You should never miss the flak cannon shots regardless of evasion unless your main hit misses (which it can't with MKB).
