Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've seen in the past Chinese teams take heroes and put them in innovative roles/positions. We've already seen gyro in the west as a 4 slot support, a hard carry, and a solo mid role. Only way we haven't seen him is as an offlane hero, which I'm kind of doubting China will try. Off-lane gyro has already been done. Granted they knew it'd be against a solo dark seer.

Damn o.o I didn't realize Gyro was so versatile, I guess I'm just used to seeing him as a carry. Can't wait for G-League....................... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

rocket barrage only deals a billion damage if your opponent is stupid enough to be the only thing next to you. his ult is easiest dodgable unless ppl are held in place by something else.
flak cannon is about his only good reliable skill

But who drafts teams with stuns or slows these days!

Okay, that is a little bit far fetched. Gyro should really be credited to the West, whether China uses him or not.

How good is 5v5 all mid Only Techies?

Well, Calldown has a ridiculously low CD, you can even use it just to defend against bigger creepwaves. Similar to a level16 QoP with Aghs.

Again, it's not exactly a secret that China takes elements of play from other parts of the world. What's rarer in China than the West is a wholesale upheaval of playstyle based on goings-on elsewhere, similar to what happened in the West after G-1 finals. You could call it being adaptive, or you could call it being obstinate.

I'm not doubting that the West borrows heavily from China. They do. However, since Gleague has ended, the West still develops - it hasn't been completely stagnant since the break. Gyro is one of those changes, and he's pretty independent from China.

So I started playing dota yesterday.
Spend most of the day playing supports. I have marginal success as far as supports go (2-4-8 kind of games), but lose most of the games. Next game someone slams sven (the guy I was going to try next) so I say "fuck it" and random slark. End up going 22-2-15. The game after I random riki and go 21-1-5 (the 1 came when I tower dove on a full health drow/luna/void to see if I could. Got 2 of them.)
Why are these assassin heroes in the game? I'm sure my opponents weren't having fun, and it was so easy it was hardly fun for me. Even if my opponents were doing the right things with wards and gems, it really doesn't fix much. I would be completely stonewalled (not fun) and my opponents are forced into defensive actions akin to busy work. I just don't understand the point of slark/riki/bh from a design perspective.

Nobody's saying that Western DotA doesn't develop without Chinese DotA.

The design behind slark/riki is that they are crap and don't work as good when the game is filled "more advanced" people.
