So, this reduces to the case of everyone picking one language, in which case, everyone will still play together anyways. The point of being able to pick multiple languages, is that if I speak English/French, then I can play in either English games, or French games, and the matchmaker can queue me into either of them. That's what I think Valve's aiming for, with the hope that people will be truthful in order to make the game experience better by not having language barriers. The language option will maybe help a little bit for some of the major languages, but there will still be a lot of crossover in my opinion, and people who speak smaller languages in terms of numbers of players will check off other languages for better queue times. They won't be truthful. People will just tick off whatever gets them to the game the fastest.

I don't see how no.

don't really feel like the language setting for matchmaking is gonna do anything.. :\ those russian/brazilian players are still gonna be queuing with english enabled 'cause otherwise their queue times are gonna be a nightmare

Apparently Bulba is SUPER excited that he doesn't have to spend a couple dollars to watch replays.

I think single selection would work.
We'll have to see though, there's no way to 'fix' the problem and still keep global play. But however this is implemented should reduce some of it. Well, it works the other way around too. If I get bad queue times queueing as English, I can just check Russian off, and away I go, haha. At Russian peak times, people will just click Russian. Otherwise, they'll just click whatever the peak language is.
Honestly, if Valve keeps server selection, I don't think it will do anything. I'll probably just check off every language, and then just queue for whatever servers I normally queue for.

His new last word silences regardless of if you cast a spell or not so you get get 3 seconds of curse anyway. It's possible I think. I mean they both rage inducing twats so it's all about whoever loses patience first. Main thing I would imagine is bat sets up ganks way better and has some form of creep clear. I haven't seen the matchup personally since hardly anyone is that big a douche to play bat/silencer

Weekdays I work 8-5 mountain time, drive home, gym, eat, and usually play games from ~6:30/7:00MST until 10:30-11:00pm MST. Weekends game allday!
So that would be from 8:30/9:00EST -> 12:30/1:00 EST. So, not bad. Maybe we can work something out, I have 1 friend who is pretty good, the rest of my friends are junk though. I'll talk to my friends after work to see what's up.

If you play around 10 CAT I don't mind but I can only really play on EU servers. Also uni starting up next week zzzz and might play with team dunno. Will see if they better than just finding scrims or not.

The reason bat crushes everybody mid is because he just napalms them 6 times and they either stand wayyyyy back and can't lasthit or they die to his little fire trail thingy.
Silencer has no convenient way to prevent this happening, so silencer loses to bat middle. Plus, silencer's Q is completely invalidated by sticky napalm, and silencer has no way to get ahead in lane. His attack modifier won't be enough to out-lasthit bat since A) bat will keep him away from the wave and B) sticky napalm provides him a ton of lasthit damage.

It's actually not that straightforward because of Last Word.
It's a hard matchup for Silencer, but it's not unwinnable, as long as he starts with Stick and doesn't play stupid.

Sidenote: Can silencer beat bat mid? If you're asking if it is likely, no. Silencer's strengths really don't play against bat. A 150 damage level 1 nuke won't do enough even with a disarm against a hero with higher hp and damage output, you're stuck using the nuke to disable him from napalming you to death but then there's a 25 second window where he can still stack you, then just firefly you to death. Bat can't even attack during his ult, the disarm is somewhat meaningless.
Silencer could do well at higher levels but I just think he would get crushed by level 3.

You have 600 range and a silence. What competent will let himself get 6 stacks let alone 4 stacks.

Silence duration is 3, means when you dont have anythign to cast when you're silenced anyway

You stop him from getting another sticky stack so he can't dive you as easily. I mean I don't think silencer wins but don't think it's not doable. Majority of mid matchups vs bat are hard, doesn't mean you can't survive a lot of them by just playing safe and setting up for supports ganks
|
I didn't say anywhere silencer wins or something, it's just there's so much discussion and theorycrafting and very little practical shit going on. Sure there's the problem of different skill-levels, but a lot of stuff could be tested.
But better to type words. :1

So who here knew you could click on the hero name in your hero performance window and it auto searches for your games with that hero? pretty neat.

On February 07 2013 08:11 Numy wrote: You stop him from getting another sticky stack so he can't dive you as easily The silence doesn't last long enough for that. Sticky napalm stays on for 8 seconds at all levels, last word doesn't even silence for 4 until silencer is level 4 (it goes 3/4/5/6 silence).
edit - Also, note that batrider likely* received a shadow buff in this patch with the removal of his backswing (I would need to download the test client to see this)

SL and TPL couriers in the test client from cyborgmatt's stream. They both look pretty damn good. SL one is totally badass.
