Yes, fresh meat was global and went through fog just like it does in dota2.

You can't just pack up and move to some other country. You also have to consider travel expenses when you're moving. You can't just move to the place with the cheapest cost of living. It's going to cost you more to travel from Ukraine to US than it is to travel from Sweden for the US. It is likely still favorable, but if you're going to spend all the money you save from cost of living on additional travel expenses then why bother moving at all?

Different topic; Did pudge ulti play the sound globally in Dota 1? The reason I ask is because I played as silencer last night vs pudge and it was trivially easy to stop him ulting my allies from across the map, even though I have no map awareness to speak of. As soon as I hear "FRESH MEAT" I can take 1 quick look at the minimap and press R. The value of using my ulti like that is a different discussion, but it sure screwed over the pudge.

Yes it was always global

All of this I could've told EE before he ever tried to go pro (oh, and I did in some respects on previous threads, but people were like don't be a dream killer). The only people who probably makes over 10k in NA are some of the EG players, and the popular streamers. If EE cared more about the financials of dota, he'd work on becoming a better streamer, since Merlini is probably making more without a team than EE is with a very good one.
I liked Dota before it was Mainstream.

Don't know about Na'Vi, but iG are definitely absolutely fine for the rest of their lives. If they are at least a little smart and inves their money, or whatever.

Yes, pudge ult is global sound in WC3 DotA.

EE thinks you have to clown around on stream to get a high amount of viewers.

And some get a ton of viewers while playing very serious dota.
People enjoy both things.

@Above, sing is getting a fuck ton of viewers whilst playing serious dota and not fucking around. You do not need to go mask of madness and clown around to get viewers. You just have to provide entertainment.

Synd also used to get a lot of viewers from scrimming with old mTw.

Sure, they are set if their only ambition is to live in a small apartment and play dota or the rest of their lives. Forget starting a family or having any real stability in their lives. That money will dry up fast if they aren't extremely smart with savings and investments.

Moving to a poorer country is not an issue whatsoever. And if we're talking about USA to Ukraine travel expenses, you can get a one way air ticket for under $800. (that's what I found on googl now, anyway) You would literally save that much money in 2 months.

To be fair to EE

SingSing already has a sizeable fanbase from before, he has build it up due to his stream antics. However now he is getting both his fans plus people interested in scrims(which is hard to get by for some people, I don't watch Sing very often but now I am always interested if he does stream his scrims.)
CIS players always get high numbers, this is just CIS people giving love to CIS people(funn1k, dread, pgg all get 2k while dendi can get over 10k).Merlini is a legend, everyone knows him, thus he has a sizeable fanbase. He is one of the older and most respected players out there.
EG is a controversial team that everyone knows, they will get numbers. Demon also has some stream antics that can be entertaining to some.
NoTail has a sizeable fan base from HoN where he gets a lot of people from.

Oh and Chuan is,well, Chuan.

Also, a small thing that might play a role is that EE plays the 5th. they are not often that much in the spotlight and may obtain less attention then the other members while being very important.

No I'm talking about when you want to go to a LAN tournament. If you're living in Ukraine you're gonna have to fly there and back. I'm not gonna google flight costs because that isn't the point. There are other opportunity costs to living in a cheap country to consider than just saying go live in X because the cost of living is cheap. Travel expenses are just one of the many. I'm sure you could find a favorable situation, but it has to be favorable enough that it is worth moving.

I do enjoy EE's stream a lot but he's never really going to pull big viewer numbers for the following reason:

1) Music (I personally don't mind it at all and think its pretty much some of the most inoffensive music I've ever heard but some people really have an issue with it)

2) Limited amount of heroes played on stream (EE loves his BH, AM, Sylla and TA. These 4 heroes account for a huge portion of the games I've watched him played. Whether or not the numbers actually confirm this I'm not sure but it sure as hell feels like they make up 95% of the heroes played on stream)

3) Flaming (Ok I don't think EE actually flames that hard. Loda seems to flame just as much as EE on his stream but its more understated, snarky flame rather than the more overt "ur awful" flame from EE. He's super opinionated as well which I really like but some peeps just don't dig that)

Thats it really. Sing has a following based on personality and being a relatively skilled player and definitely has a story behind him. As 2GD said, by watching the scrims on his stream you are watching a team and SIng grow. Its fantastic organic storytelling. Dendi gets viewers because of his personality and name. CIS streamers get viewers because they are the largest player base outside of China. Merlini gets viewers because of his different approach to commentary and again, name, along with a dearth of flame. Yes people do get viewers for clowning around and being funny but only if it appears to be natural behavior.

EDIT: Look at whats happening on Sings stream now, 2GD offering money for wins ahahah
