just level march whenever you feel like you can't get kills with laser/rocket
even if you have laser maxed and two into rocket if it isn't working just level march and go farm
alternately if you really like farming you can max march first but it makes you a lot weaker mid

When playing Tinker you need to focus on map awareness. Knowing where the enemy team is located is information you need to know where you can TP safely. Stay safe, don't TP somewhere if you even have the slightest idea you might be ganked. Go farm neutrals/stack stuff/gank stuff instead. This is after you get your BoTs though. Before you have BoTs you should be focusing on getting your BoTs. If you go Laser/Rockets build, ganking ought to be a source of income coupled with last hits. If you're going March, you'll usually play more passive, stick to your lane and focus on getting every last hit.

Use March to push and antipush. Keep in mind that March deals a LOT of damage early game, so use it in team fights. Also, remember that Laser puts a 100% miss buff on your target, so use this to disable enemy right-clickers for 3 sec.

Never underestimate the miss chance on laser, on some carries you can literally laser them to the face and then rearm while they miss all their attacks.

The miss duration doesn't change per level that's why you almost always skill up laser level 1 even if you don't put any more points into it. It's great at every stage of the game. In lane you can almost always get the last hits with it if you time it properly and lane positioning is right.

Well, it's supposed to be available on Mac, but that's "soon" in Valve time, so... In the meantime, my brother made it work on his MacBook by doing this:

Anyone else listen to Eternal Envy's talk on the status of progaming yet?

Er sure - kind of boils down to this:

-Progamers make little to no money - minimum wage level of income for almost every player, and even if you win every tournament barring TI, you'll make in the 10-30k range. ixmike made ~4-5k last year, and col was one of the best teams. As of right now, its not really sustainable to be a progamer and live on your own / make a living unless you win TI.

-League of legends has a larger income base, and moneywise, it makes more sense to go there right now. Because of the influx of gaming houses in LoL, LoL will be more competitive than dota in the future (competitive in the sense of amount of practice and closeness in teams).

-Its really difficult for anyone to get into the prodota scene and be considered "good" - breaking in is almost impossible unless you are lucky and have good contacts, and obviously are out of control good.

-Being a progamer versus having a job / studying well is nearly impossible (mainly in the US) because of the timezone differences. Unless you have a way to practice with EU teams, you can't be on a serious team.

-touched on the role of sponsors - sending teams to EU (col's first lan was TI, didn't participate in EU tourneys), their role on taking money from streams / prize money. He doesn't have as much knowledge about this though.

He might have talked about some other things, but I can't really remember. He just paints the dota scene as not being very pretty atm (said along the lines of "if i was smart, I would have chosen LoL. I dont regret my decision of going to dota2 and wouldn't have went to LoL if I could choose again, but LoL has the more sustainable (for money for gamers) base").

So he says absolutely nothing anyone in the scene doesn't already know? You don't go into progaming and expect to be wealthy or even decent. You do it because you love it and then eventually if enough people that love it go into it the money will come. That's how Chinese scene did it, that's how korean scene did it. That's just the hard truth.

If he was smart he wouldn't have gone into any gaming and made way more money finishing his degree and getting a job. So talking about money is really strange.

Well - I think he wasn't talking to people that are already in the scene (why would he on a stream like that?) He was more trying to dispel any sort of outward image that sometimes progaming gives off that there isn't too much in terms of money for living off of. I mean, a lot of us may know this, but I guess he puts a little more behind it.

The biggest points he makes is about being a progamer in NA/EU/China
If you are in NA you are basically fucked. The living expenses are high,so let's say you get 10k$ a year,it's nothing.
Also practice in NA is dodgy so you have to scrim with EU or Asia but that's also fucked up because of timezones and ping.
Basically best case scenario, you get by with being the best in NA.
EU,depends where you live,if you are like in eastern Europe living expenses are easier to handle than in the west.
China is by far the best place because food is so cheap,1$ will basically get you a mcdonalds menu.
I mean nothing he says really is anything new, what he says can basically be applied to any other competitive game apart from LoL I guess.

I was going to touch on this - but I suppose its been talked about in the past moreso than some of the other points, but its really relevant.

Also, just to spark discussion - I know most of us despise Riot and a lot of their actions, and that a lot of their decisions feels like they are creating a bubble in their scene (which we are waiting for to pop) - but is there something to be learned from their practices? Is it so bad for them to assist tourneys financially, and give progamers salaries (i'm assuming they do - not 100% sure about this)? Will growth happen naturally in dota2, or do we need more assistance from valve? Where does the money come from - are sponsors enough? How do teams survive / not bankrupt themselves? Is there any lessons to be learned from starcraft 2?

To be honest, if I were a progamer, I would move to some really cheap to live in countries and live a comfortable life there. It doesn't really matter if you live in Ukraine or Sweden as a progamer, you still make the same amount of money but the living expenses are VASTLY different. According to google, the average salary in Ukraine is $319, while in Sweden it's $2,910. There's a big difference how far the $10-30k Envy calls unsustainable gets you in geographically relatively close places.

Different topic; Did pudge ulti play the sound globally in Dota 1? The reason I ask is because I played as silencer last night vs pudge and it was trivially easy to stop him ulting my allies from across the map, even though I have no map awareness to speak of. As soon as I hear "FRESH MEAT" I can take 1 quick look at the minimap and press R. The value of using my ulti like that is a different discussion, but it sure screwed over the pudge.
