Valve really implements what community wants in a timely manner, still can't believe that just because Fistful of Tangoes was on we got "mid only" mode.

I've been thinking of maybe running a ranged nuke trilane (for example WR + kotl + ES maybe), having a NS mid to completely dominate the lane of PL during night time, and maybe a syllabear (you know, assuming I get these picks, maybe a clinkz alternatively) on the solo safe lane... Doesn't help the people I've been playing with (including myself) just haven't been playing well. There's little room for error when playing against a PL :[. There is always the option of giving PL/KotL away and running a nuke heavy lane against them. Something along the lines of CK/Sven + Lina/Lesh + Lion/SK/SD/VS/Nyx/Rubick utterly annihilates that lane. Specifically Nyx is superstrong against KotL and SD can turn things against PL almost the entire game. Assuming you did opt to not try that and have a scenario where both your carry and the enemy PL freefarms it will entirely boil down to (usually rather fragile) timings. e.g. an AM going BF/Manta/Vit booster will have a few minutes where he's much stronger than PL, same for Aquila/Drums -> BKB Luna, Soulring/BKB DK, LD with Radiance, etc. etc. The important thing in this regard is to try and focus on which carry is how close to which timings. Can you force an engagement while you're stronger? Can you avoid engagements while you're weaker? Are there openings to disrupt the enemies timings? Can you counter enemy attempts at disrupting your carries development? A HUGE thing is also overfarming carries during their strong timings. A PL goes Aquila/Drums/Diffusal but they don't force fights? Great, the longer they don't force a fight the weaker the Aquila/Drums part becomes. Your bear finished Radiance? Force towers. Now. Not in 5 minutes unless some other crucial item is almost done (e.g. Mek). Ideally your team as a whole abuses timings that come together better than the opponent and you snowball from there.

https://dotabuff.com/matches/106598224 Actually, some of the other games were so unwinnable due to horrible picks, that I'm not going to bother with them. Do you feel like if you aren't almost all-in pushing around 15 minutes that you have to offensive trilane? Edit: Worth noting - this isn't a team or anything, I usually play with 2-3 of these people, and almost always have a random for the fifth slot, so I guess I'm reluctant about being too organized / serious about things.

And i feel like if invoker was still a popular pick then PL wouldnt be that 'OP'. One meteor can almost kill all illu without the help of any aoe from team.

And i feel like if invoker was still a popular pick then PL wouldnt be that 'OP'. One meteor can almost kill all illu without the help of any aoe from team. I wouldn't suggest those heroes purely because they tend to be trickier to play in a team composition. If you got experience with them then sure go for it but if not it's probably best to go with the safer picks. Invoker isn't really popular because his laning phase got gutted and he takes too long to "come online". He doesn't really offer your team anything until he gets a lot of levels and moderate farm if he goes exort. He's also more likely to require help in lane from your supports so forces movement when you don't really want forced movement. Feel like if they reverted the damage nerf he might be a good pick situationally.

If you think DotA2 will have a much better 2013 you are totally wrong. All hopes on DreamHack and Starladder once again (and of course Asian tournaments).

Illusions made by Disruption can spawn extra illusions if you copy PL or one of his illusions. You can make your own PL army in the middle of a teamfight given good timing and some luck. More importantly, Shadow Demon destroys PL early game, and requires zero farm late game.

A team game doesn't happen in a vaccuum(huehuehue). Looking at counters purely in that state only gives you part of the picture.

Tiny is a bit iffy, but if you have a good wisp player you can always go with that. The biggest key is shutting down PL early on, which can be hard against people who actually scout with illus etc. But if you don't you better have a farmed tiny/sven in your team.

About wisp - I have a really high winrate when I run wisps - i'm just trying to not be overly reliant on him, as eventually I'll hit skill brackets where people ban wisp. Agreed Numy - I think more than anything I'm looking for overall strategies and playstyles that are effective against PL, since he seems to be such a strong hero. Worst comes to worse, and I'll just ban the motherfucker.

PL is just super strong, and super nasty, i mean he carries crazy hard, and he can be an effective fighter midgame with a diffusal Honestly, he doesn't have super great counterpicks, Shadow demon is highly effective though, and Medusa can outcarry him, but you really have to rely on dragging the game out. I think the best way to fight him is really to exploit his weak earlygame, aggressive trilane against him and just shut him down. Its still rough though, dat 4.2 agi gain.

Can you time CK Reality Rift + Chen Test of Faith and thus send a hero back to the fountain with CK?

But if you wanna drag someone on the other team to the fountain, only one choice. Pudge hook + test of faith
