As far as I know the (dota1) max attack speed was max ias, not attack time. And pubs are so stupid at playing alchemist. Pick a hero that gives more gold the more creeps you kill, and buy an item which gives a constant gpm increase instead of an item which allows you to kill creeps faster. Pick a hero that is supposed to be a natural tank (with a little armor), and buy a shadow blade on him. The attack speed cap in wc3 is 400% increase. It's very rare you hit that in dota though although I haven't seen troll with this new global ult before. He used to just have self bloodlust ^_^ I think the cap was 387%, although there's a small chance they didn't account for base agility.

Alch doesn't hit attack speed cap faster than others. He attacks faster than others given the same attack speed. The cap is about how much IAS you can benefit from, not how fast you can attack.

Max attack speed in DotA and Dota 2 work the same. To get seconds per attack just use the formula: (BAT/5) And yes the max attack speed is 400 in both of them. It's just that in Dota 2 for heroes that don't have 1.7 BAT, getting an extra 1 IAS translates to a higher IAS but if you normalize it, it's just 400 in the end.

MMR for Teams. What doters think about it on TeamLiquid?
Personally it could be amazing if Valve implements this and even more awesome if Valve gives the teams a reason to fight for it. Maybe a spot in The International Wild Cards for example.

I'm all for a MMR for 5-man teams and a match-making specifically for 5man vs 5man.

Would be amazing. CM mode if you queue as 5 seems to match you up vs another 5 team so it's kinda in there. If they just made it a lot more detailed would be cool. There's also the team system in place so can tie everything together nicely.

I think if they tied the team matchmaking to the existing team system, that would be fantastic! Just 5man stack mm doesnt seem as cool.

Yea then you could get your sweet artwork popping up on the flags and ground. I think that's where they going to end up eventually anyway. Just having the team system as is seems like a huge waste of potential.

As long as you can still get 5 stacks going in normal mm. Otherwise the team roster capacity needs to go up

So guys, what do you recommend on playing against PL - i've lost a handful of CM games against him, and it seems really tough to deal with it. Any recommended picks / over strategies? Should I be picking Luna and 5-manning around 12 minutes given laning phase going okay?

There's a few options. Denying kotl from the enemy team is a must. Find he's actually a top 3 priority hero nowdays in draft. If you have kotl then you can aggressive trilane with something like a sven against him if you want. Aggressive trilanes are a bit risky though if you not used to them. Sven is still a good pick situationally, feel like people forget about him now just because of how strong he was before.
Another option is picking something that comes online sooner like a Luna 5 man as you said. That doesn't always work out too well if again they have a kotl on their side so seems like I'm repeating myself :<. Tiny/wisp combo is a nice way to deal with him aswell since Tiny tends to shit all over melee carries if he can get up farm which a PL team will most likely have to allow.
Really at the end of the day PL is rather weak until he gets some core items and even when it gets stuff like drums/diff he can still be beaten until he gets more items so denying turtle heroes to the enemy is a must.

I'm always first / second picking kotl these days - I just feel worried about running offensive trilanes against that hero because of how good lance is (I've run kotl + pl consistently in offensive trilanes). I've been thinking of maybe running a ranged nuke trilane (for example WR + kotl + ES maybe), having a NS mid to completely dominate the lane of PL during night time, and maybe a syllabear (you know, assuming I get these picks, maybe a clinkz alternatively) on the solo safe lane...
Doesn't help the people I've been playing with (including myself) just haven't been playing well. There's little room for error when playing against a PL :[.

Hell yeah i am all for Team MM (and visible Team MMR >_>). Would be nice if they let us to join multiple teams like maybe up to 5 teams.

That sounds perfectly reasonable. The thing to note about that trilane though is anything with a WR as core will be more focused on denying than actually killing. Even more so when you add in an ES as backup. It's more of a stalling trilane until your mid rotates which is also fine but is risky in it's own right. It's not as binary as say a kill trilane that if it doesn't go well it loses but it relies on your other lanes to win without help which doesn't always happen. I prefer a more aggressive trilane like kotl/sven/lesh or what we did the other day was luna/sven/kotl. These tend to be a bit more one sided but you can pressure enough to force their supports to stay and then later your own supports can help rotate once you won convincingly.
You know what I would love to watch the replays if you want to upload them. No chinese games lately so hard to get a grip on the pro scene and all the scrims we have played teams tend to get crushed by aggressive trilanes. The NS pick mid is smart though, Mag/Panda also provide similar benefit if you want to try something more teamfight orientated.
EDIT: I seem to have deleted a paragraph. Was meant to say PL lance is strong but it's high mana cost and he's still a squishy agi carry. His escape is also high mana cost so without a kotl on his lane he can't effectively harass and/or escape. You just need to get some good ward coverage so your supports don't get caught and deny their lane ward if you can. Supports should always have courier/obs/sents and maybe a smoke(If defensive tri) so you should be able to get vision control.
