Chinese style got influenced by SEA style because they have to play on SEA server for a year now. If you watch replays/streams of high level players from US/EU and SEA, you'll see there're big difference in teamplay and stuff. Team like iG has big advantage because they have Malaysian Chuan as the captain who understands SEA style better than anyone else.

What is this bullshit? Chinese playstyle changed because the patch changed their playstyle. For example, MUFC brought Weaver to G-League and failed with it? Kunkka dont even see that much play in the league. The Chinese brought back AM and Lonedruide to top picks.

The only non-China team that actually influenced Chinese playstyle is Mith.Trust from Thailand. They are the first team that introduced mid Batrider to competitive scene.

This implies they haven't been learning from SEA the whole way through since DotA 1, which they have, evidenced by the ubiquity of bottle-crowing after LGD lost to Mineski's double-bottle-crow at SMM 2011, and DK and Slardar entering Chinese play as well.

Chuan is also not iG's captain.

SEA played dk, slardar, panda, and qop before it became bigger in china.

I also wouldn't say batrider mid was solely a SEA thing, there was a chinese (I think) team that would leave Invoker unbanned, so they could counterpick it with bat.

I had a game with Pseudoku and some other TL channel lurkers, funniest game ever.

We were losing pretty much the whole game until the last 10 minutes, and for some reason turned it around. We had the worse early and mid game but still won.

Aura stacking FTW.

Here's the match: https://dotabuff.com/matches/105131925, and also note that Sylla's bear also shows items now. Pretty neat.

Oh cool, that bear thing is really nifty.

How did Invoker have so little farm? And needs a beastmaster instead of sven imo ^_^

Chinese teams have been leading the dota world since SMM 2009, that SMM symbolized the rising of chinese doto (after chinese getting serious on dota since 2005 iirc). They get serious sponsors to provide a stable training environment for teams while SEA teams have been lacking that kind of environment. However you still find pinoys/sea teams caught chinese teams off guard from time to time by using innovative strategies (i call them the 'monkey playstyles') but there is always some strong chinese teams come ahead on top due to their steady and solid playstyles.

This is why i believe that Chuan played a big part for making iG such an unstoppable team atm. The man's selfless playstyle and his opinion on ban/pick etc surely helps the team alot.

You can even find some vods where 820/2009 commenting about their old (famous) games talking about how bad they were back then but still those were the top class games at that era for sure. Is just that current chinese teams have far better understanding of the game compared to the old times.

Go SEA? :D

I personally agree with the assessment. Yes Chinese teams are currently on top of the world in DOTA, but they do get influenced more by SEA dota than European/NA styles...mainly because of them playing on SEA. I personally believe if SEA has the same support system as China teams, SEA will be the 3rd DOTA powerhouse, alongside NA/EU & China teams. There's so much talent in SEA region that its mindboggling to be honest.

Say what you may, but SEA dota is pretty much awesome, yet unstable, with a lot of new possibilities evolving from here. There's plenty of innovation going on even in the small clans that aren't international. There's a recent small online compy in SG, in which my friend joined and played. Pretty good stuff going on there. Now i feel like joining a small clan and going for skirmishes

a lot of places would benefit from china support systems. but that means there is as much interest and money in dota, which is not the case.

Winter and Ice3 stack played against YYF stack.
Losing first game.
They then proceed to cheese 5 man necrobooks.

LOL.. pwned them so hard it's not even funny. YYF stack can't stop the raxes from going down.

Any recent games that has 5 book cheese? If any I d assume some EU teams will try this out and just fuck others up so hard when they are not prepared for it.

I think tournaments ban more than a certain number of necro books per team. Or at least they did. Not sure about the new rules.

there's no limit on items in any tournaments nowadays
mass necros is too slow, it's hard to get more than two necro3s in a reasonable amount of time

My friends and I got 3 necrobooks on the same team once when we were desperately losing. Mix rax -> throne on our like second push after getting them.

All my favorite moments in DotA involve some guy fighting the melee necro creep with low health and then exploding.

Mine is when i'm attacking it and thus killing my teammates. Sometimes i don't know the difference and i'll just attack whatever.
