I have to agree. They were very unprofessional in game 2 of coL vs WE - making fun of that Broodmother a whole lot. Yes they made mistakes and yes those mistakes should be pointed out but not in the manner they did.

In my opinion, Luminous is actually a very, very good caster, but when he does dual casts he tends to forget how to cast, and focuses on their relationship, inside jokes, etc. I prefer 10 to 1 Luminous' solo commentaries to Tobi's. Luminous, in solos, gives good insight into the game, focuses both on specifics and on impacts on the game as a whole, talks about timings, etc, and doesn't make my ears bleed.
Also, I don't like Nebula (his co-caster today). He only ever says anything obvious, makes irrelevant jokes, and when he does solo casts he turns the camera on himself, so you can't see the game, while he drinks some beer and makes some idiotic comment.

I just wish they shut up about TC already. It's like they have a constant boner about him and has to talk about him all game long. Gets especially annoying to listen to when he's on his "world famous, always ward trapping" shadow shaman.
It has happened in every complexity game so far.

I don't really like Luminous his casting voice, but thats just personal preference, I think he has more game knowledge then Tobi though(alot of casters do), I still prefer Tobi over him in a solo cast simply because Tobi brings more hype and excitement, he makes the cast fun and exciting even when there is nothing going on.

Recently I've noticed in some highlight videos (Diesmiling666 and pcfcesports) that alot of DK's have been getting lothars as their first or 2nd item after boots? Why the hell is this ?

Same for me. Can't explain it so just preference I guess. On the other hand. One of the It's gosu guys... I think it's ayesee has a brilliant voice that I can listen to for hours. I can't talk about their knowledge because basically everybody has a better understanding of the game than I do, but through his voice he seems professional from the first moment I heard him.

I always ask if anyone knows his name during the casts and no-one does =P He's almost as bad as PhilTheThrill, contributes next to nothing and is super condescending. CoL got three kills for 0 deaths and then a tower in a teamfight and he goes "They left the broodmother so it wasn't a perfect teamfight" as his summary. It's like having an insecure captain hindsight as a commentator.

The problem i have with Luminous is that his English just seems really bad. Find it hard to understand what he's trying to say most of the time

i think tobi spoiled us all with his amazing casting talent bc in sc2 when can see these type of cast all the time -_-
the communities casters often just talk in monotones and try to be analytical bc they cant do play by play... the worst part is their analytical casting is often inaccurate.

lots of people forget how bad tobi's casts were over the years. sure his recent dota 2 casts are actually good, but for the majority of his career most people disliked his casts because of his lack of insight. luminous' solo commentaries ( not solo live casts mind you) are much much better than any other current dota 1 caster. he provides lots of insight into the game and how generally has an opinion on alot of aspects of the game( not saying their all right or anything). his dual casts are horrible though so every time he casts TPL its just downright bad. nebu1a's casts are usually much more laid back, when hes the solo caster he lets his personality shine out ( again, agree with it or not, thats his style, which lots of people actually like). Nebu1a's casts tend to be much more strategic when he does a "hero daily" where he basically goes indepth and explains things rather than being excited and basically blurting out whats on the screen (the majority of his casts) then again he still provides much more insight than tobi. tobi is notorious for saying nothing of substance and basically screaming at the top of his lungs things you can see right there, he is a play-by-play caster though so its to be expected. i actually think that ayesee ( ive only seen like 4 of his casts) is the only one doing the co-casting thing right, he talks his mind and continuously prods his co-commentator for insight, asking how the game stands, what their ideas are etc. i think thats the style most casters should emulate.

when i watch TPL i just turn on the russian stream. much better to listen to than the english one even if i cant understand it at all
also the best commentary for dota2 that is usually on, even though not that exciting, is usually on the itsgosu streams

For me when i listen to sc2 casters, its just dumb listening to their wrong analysis if they are no where near GM level. It happens to DJwheat, happened to Husky, itmeJP and so on... All those people has finally moving on to mainly focus on play by play casting which, to them, literally means reading food of 2 side on the unit tab. SC2 is boring at hell and i remember those guy the first time watching OGN casting sc2 for WCG was asking themselves: How could the Korean casts be so emotional?
To be fair if you watch BW now a day after you listen to sc2 casts, all you see is all-in 1 into all-in 2... nothing exciting yet the Korean caster made all the different. Tobi is, by far, the only english esports caster that could emulate what the korean did in BW which result the growth of esports in their culture for the past 10 years. Beside, if you want a good co-caster for him, just fill in a pro player such as maelk or synderen to provide more game insight.... Thats also how it worked in BW: retired ProGamers trasition into casters.

Pretty much, insight provided by even high level pub players is rather worthless to listen to and yet still often lacks flavor and excitment. Without somebody like Maelk or 2009 casting, any "insight" tend to be half hearted guesses that may or may not work correctly.
However, for live casts especially, players/ex-players who primarily provide insight can often be dry to listen to, which is why good casting combinations require a flavor guy who's screaming at the top of their lungs, sentiments like PLAGUUUUUUUUUU transcend the very game itself to etch moments into our memories.

Just learn to play Huskar in pub using sing_sing stream... this guy is fucking hilarious xD reminds me of Kiwikaki

My wife and three friends each got a Dota 2 invite yesterday, after I've been in the beta for months; is the Beta open now?

Just started playing dota2.. ran into problems right away: First off the UI is MASSIVE and takes up like half of my screen, im running in 1280x1024. The graphic bar above the ability section is also cut off and the inventory is like stacked on top of it on the right side.
screenshot below: + Show Spoiler +
Any idea how to decrease the UI or fix this issue? Looked in options and couldn't find anything.
