It's part of the game. There are ways to react in the appropriate manner to avoid this sort of thing happening.

In Dota, gold is much harder to get, and so if you do not last hit properly from the very start of the game it is very easy to find yourself in a position where you have no items by the middle part or end of the game and so you can be killed very very quickly by a large number of heroes who are properly farmed. In LoL, this is counteracted by each player getting much more gold over time then players do in Dota, meaning they can buy survivability items much more easily.
This is also part of why dota is often considered "harder" then LoL. In addition, you lose gold upon death, which contributes to a strong "snowball" effect for some heroes.
basically its all part of the learning curve, if you keep at it you will soon enough find yourself on the other end of the 1-shotting.

What are some really nice pro games to watch if I want to watch some really good play of a late game carry? Void especially, if there's any like that. I want to get more into playing hard carries, but I want to see a prime example of how it should be done in the most ideal fashion.

And then you can go check out Burning's void in the grand finals of G-1, but for learning about 'what shouldn't you have done when you play a carry'.

Also, in regards to this LoL discussion or whatever. As someone who started with LoL and moved to DotA, the #1 problem I had was positioning and I'm about 100% positive it's the same problem for every other converting LoL player. Positioning just isn't nearly as important in that game, and you don't think about it. It's truly what's fucking you over, but you don't know it's fucking you over since positioning was never really a concept you put much thought into before. So when people are complaining about being instagibbed and the like, they're probably pushed way too out early on and get wrecked, or are too aggressive when two teams are preparing for a teamfight and get 5v1'd.
That's just my opinion though. It may be really easy to think heroes are way too powerful when you keep unintentionally putting yourself in unwinnable situations.

Just buy the defense ticket and look at the great carry play by top teams like RATR, HWA and EG.

There's a lot more than that - QoP, Lina, Lion, Tiny, Tinker with a dagon, etc. all can instagib people who have <1000 hp very easily if they have even a small advantage. (TA to a lesser degree).
