Another random question...

What do you guys like to go with on Batrider after the typical upgraded boots + Blink + Force staff + Maybe urn

I never know what to get after that. :/ Like Pipe? Shivas? Sheep? Even Dagon?

Is there anything that is considered "core" on bat after blink + force?

bkb hex shivas mek are all good options situationally

You can't force staff yourself if you're bkb'd anymore, which is annoying.

Force staff allows you to really move around your lasso'd target to an ideal location (often in an escapable position in the trees). In fact, I've been preferring force staff before blink if the enemies don't 5 man really early. It's cheaper than blink if you break down your tranquils, the 10 int is very significant, and you have the flexibility of either initiating farther or repositioning better.

So what items do you go for on Timbersaw? Bloodstone seems obvious but what else?

That is actually a very good idea O_O how can i never think of it????

O_O you mean i won't get the shadow blade first snipers who go shadow before claymore and don't get shrapnel until lvl 22?

No, you'll still get those guys, you just won't get 3 teammates that agree with him and call you a noob.

Unless you queue into some shitty 4-stack, that is.

Interesting thought: people who buy stupid items are able to achieve (approx) the same mmr as other people in their team even though they are handicapped by crappy item choices. Seriously, they must be doing something right.

I competely agree. I don't want an -em mode in Dota 2.

When in doubt, get Shadowblade! But in all seriousness, I am not sure. When going against the computer, been trying with and without quelling blade and I just find it to be quite difficult to last hit without one. Can go like quelling blade, tango, 2 branches, clarity and a salve. With the branches and blade, it makes last hitting much easier but argh, so difficult.

I do love the low cost of whirling blade, can use it several times without being depleted.

Oh and I did find something neat with Shadowblade. You use your ult and than go invis to stay alive and hopefully avoid dying!

But yeah, here is a question. since blood stone gives mana regen, should we disassemble arcane boots and go to treads or go for bot for pushing lanes?

Oh and final thought, what of initiation items for him. Been just thinking of getting blink or something with him, but not sure why I keep thinking of getting him an item like that (since has chain).

It obviously needs to be separate, which isn't something hard to do for a game the size of Dota 2. That way your EM MMR won't really affect your regular MMR.

So with the avg dota game being about 20-40 minutes or w.e (just ballparking the number here), how short will em games be now? LOL

I've found that maxing chain is the best route on Timbersaw, with at least 1 point in the armor during laning. The CD is incredibly low, as is the mana cost and it can still be used for farming. (Whirling death has double the CD, the 15% reduction of primary attribute makes it good vs strength heroes in lane but the longer range on chain seems a way higher priority to me).

Sometimes I wonder if I like the direction DotA is headed in. I feel that Ice intentionally aimed games right now and competitive games being around 30 minutes or so (something that Ice was vocal about) but the average competitive games right now seems to be what maelk feared, the game is becoming too snowbally imo.

So, I think your average game length right now is intentional on Ice's part but the "way" he did it was by promoting the amount of bounty you gain for killing heroes but there was something that was beautiful or at the very least appreciative of farming in DotA that the Chinese teams did so well that became a bit more muted now. Whether people liked it or not, the Chinese style almost proved superior in everyway as shown in TI2 with the exception of Na'vi and to be frank, Na'vi had a signature style of their own to focus solely on the midgame (dendi quoted something similar to the lines or "why go late game when you can win earlier") that was fun to spectate. Im not a Navi fanboy but they played their style BEST during TI + TI2 whereas right now, like I watch recent games and can't help but feel that every single team is playing the way na'vi used to play because even having a late game almost seems nonexistent. I guess the point I'm ultimately trying to make here is that the recent changes I feel really shows us the same sort of games stylistically of being aggressive (even Chinese teams) 24/7.

We still have impressive 1 hour epics, it's just that I feel we're seeing less of them.

Most games are one-sided anyway... Kinda hard to fix that issue.

The snowball effect that the game is headed towards with the length of the avg game being shorter and the gold differential between the teams being over 10k now in half a hour is indicative that it's intentional rather than being an issue to have more one sides games IMO.

I don't think blink is a good idea. He doesn't have any AOE stun, has a pretty powerful initiation with chakram to begin with, and you would probably prefer a more prolonged teamfight (i.e. his passive doesn't do much if you get nuked down in 3 seconds). More important than blink for teamfights is just positioning yourself so you can get that pure damage nuke and latch on to trees.
