Riki isn't very effective when just farming IMO, gotta get active and grab the midgame where your power lies. Also although everyone is this thread will detest me for saying this, grab an Orb of venom while in lane. It will help you early on before you get diffusal, sell when you get your diffusal though. EDIT: Sorry double post. What's with all the hate for Orb of Venom? I've seen this before and can't figure it out. It's such a cheap item, can it really be that bad?

Takes up an item slot for no stats, that's really it. It's not bad per se, but i personally have other items i'd like in those slots, especially items i don't have to sell when i get my first real item which i will be utilizing to kill people, aka diffusal. I mean with the cost reduction it's not directly bad to pick it up, but i'd rather have a poor man's shield and 3 branches in the laning phase + my consumables then i'd like to pick up boots, then a magic stick and eventually upgrade it to magic wand and them drums, I like to just not buy an item for the laning phase which i'll get rid of quickly again, and i don't feel that the slow is needed on riki if you have the chance to kill whoever is in the lane if you have a semi-decent support with you.

So he decides to be in SC community? which is month by month is getting more ridiculous and ugly, except few exceptions. Of course Dota's general community is even worse (in-game especially), but still.

Meh, don't really think the dota 2 community is bad at all. Sure you get assholes once in a while ingame (what can you do? It's internet afterall), but I have gotten so much more shit ingame in sc2 (Terran sup) than in dota 2. It's also nothing compared to how bad HoN and LoL can be. I also think r/dota2 and TL dota have much higher standard than the sc2 subreddit and forum. I guess you could argue that dota 2 is just beta but it's not like the game and community is lacking players. dota 2 + steam will make it so the ingame level will never be as bad as in HoN and wc3 DotA either, which is good of course.

I agree with you. I was terran too since the beginning of SC2 ( late beta ) and I got so much shit just because I liked playing that race. Also how many of the GGs that you get at the end of a SC2 game are real gg ? Just because you write GG it doesn't mean that you are good mannered. It seems a common misconception of the SC2 community.

Well maybe you are right. But what i have experienced, Dota's in-game is pretty fucking ugly (at least at my MMR). I haven't experienced much in SC2 since i haven't really played after Beta. You are totally right about the r/dota2 and TL's Dota section compared to SC2 (especially r/Starcraft).

The difference being that in DotA you rely on others to win, you don't generally in SC2, so people will be more vocal ingame. When i was playing 4v4 and 2v2 in SC2 i got flamed the exact same way i did in DotA2, i also often got insulted in 1v1 if i won or caught my opponent off guard. I believe that gaming communities are generally equally horrible/good. There are good and bad members of any community is what i'm trying to get to i guess. I mean, even /vg/ DotA2 threads on 4chan aren't bad at all when you consider that it's mostly people from /v/ in those threads.

On top of that, the community in dota is a lot more noxious in-game, so the standard for good manners is reduced to very basic acts of compassion--such as not assuming that everyone else playing is a fucking moron, not being horribly racist, and trying to be constructively critical rather than just harsh. These should all be basic things that everyone does all the time, but they are largely absent or overshadowed by the bad apples in dota.
