I like merlini stream because he constantly tries to teach you something. Even when you think you know a ton he will say something that makes you go, ah, yeah, makes sense. He's also very nice and enjoyable to watch and listen.

Agreed, I think it is because he speaks a lot of what he is doing which helps. At least from what I have seen, there is a heavy emphasis on the basis mechanics of Dota 2, but just as important are the little bits that make the difference. Like, his timing with stacking the creeps and using the courier to scout the group so he can attack and they would run all the way behind to him. It is just a small thing but it is habits like that for which can make a player exception over simply being good.

Yeah his positioning tips are really cool and I think could help a lot of people.

He was mirana some game vs axe, it was mid/late game so axe had blink etc. He was farming an empty lane and was talking about how and where you should position yourself to creep when an axe is on the enemy team. You have to be X distance from creep line because if he blinks and taunts you don't want him to get the creep agro to proc spins etc.

A good player will be aware of this but probably 90% of the people watching his stream learned a very smart thing to do. Good stuff, he does things like this all the time.

Undying isn't any more useless lategame than any other supportive 3rd/4th position team item-carrying hero.

So tired of Omniknight lately.. He's probably been in 4 of my last 5 CM games.. 2 losses in a row directly because of him.

Fuck you EG for starting to pick him in tournaments and starting this trend.

When you compare Undying to Shadow shaman, there's quite a difference. What matters with undying is his tombstones and the fact that he never dies. He's useful only with farm. He has no other cc than his tombstone and the slow on his ult is weak. So yes he's far more useless than any other supports lategame.

The fact that DK has repeatedly successfully played Undying not on a farming role, but as a 4th/5th position support over the past month says otherwise.

Their game against tf was stupid and the one against n9 lasted 21min. They had Chen/Shadow/Luna. I can't find the games against iG. Was it in the G-1 ?

It is better than AP/SD if you have infinite time for queues.

I thought merlini stream is entertaining after all the posts about him, finally i decided to tune in for a bit: i dont like it. From beginning to end, its just a group of stacked players rapping pub on Match making, nothing fun from that. If you have a stack, go scrim and try your best to win, i hate that half half shit. There is pretty much no justify on wasting time playing pub games if you know you are just gona win. Same goes to pretty much every single NA dota streams out there: draskyl, fear, root, even demon time to time.... This is why im so glad when i find singsing stream: im glad that I am not the only person who have this point of view after years playing dota.

So you like watching singsing because he might lose when he plays with terribles? How is that entertaining? Thats like the equivalent of angrytestie from hon.(all he does is play low tier games so he can stomp... sometimes he loses but that really is even worse than stacking.) I guess the penis' on sings stream give you the entertainment factor but at that point there is no reason to keep watching. You could just watch EternalEnvy or something. He is probably more skilled than singsing and doesn't stack. Don't just come up with some bullshit hypocritical answer to defend your savior. You could just say you like singsing better than playerx, no one will think any less of you... especially on the internet.

Any tips for a player who is completely new to dota?

About to play my first game and I want to improve as fast as possible although I only plan to play for fun. I normally play sc2 at grandmaster (top 200 in europe) level. How should I approach dota to understand it very fast? Should I read guides, watch vods/streams or just mass game?

Thanks in advance

a combinatino of all 3 read the guide for new players on this forum, read a bit about last hitting, wards, which items you should get for which heroes and just start playing.

I think this is generally considered a good starting point:

I still think it's one of the worst guides you can link to someone new. Not so much because of the content, but because of the attitude it conveys.

The attitude isn't one tenth of what new players face in-game when they're trying to learn.
