It seems the mods have been cracking down a lot more with warnings recently. + Show Spoiler + Looking at the centaur nerf, I think it is fairly reasonable now. It used to give the team that had centaur a dominating presence for every teamfight after centaur had hit 6, especially due to the low cooldown and mana cost of the spell. Duration reduction and cooldown increase (especially for the lower ranks) were definitely needed. The damage nerf was pretty significant as well, but the spell just did so much damage before that I think it is reasonable. The spell still isn't "bad" or even "mediocre" by any stretch, but I think we will just have to see how this plays out. I suspect more people will complain about Drow's global aura now more than centaur's ultimate.

It is quite interesting to see the modern gaming community quick reacting into some massive changes in gaming balance patches. I dont know when did this started but in sc2, having a community using public stat system to complain about balance design is a TERRIBLE idea. I mean look at drow right now and compare her to lycan before TI2, they are pretty much the same with lycan being way more powerful and the game turned out just fine. People needs to start learning to adapt with a new gaming environment instead of whining/complaining so the game designer change the environment into their favor. I really hope icefrog wont be affected by the new public stat system in dota2 as well as the new pressure he will have to face in the next 1-2 years. When i read the chat log between him and maelk, it really did give me a lot of hope.

However, it should stem the crying for now while not really changing the ultimate. It is 120 seconds, lasts 3.75 seconds. Does anyone know if this new ultimate is not as strong in DotA considering the WC3 engine?

On another note I think the ulti has been over nerfed, all that needed to be changed IMO was the stun radius. I am pretty sure bat is unplayable verse centaur, He can stun you when you shackle them.

People are overreacting. Centaur ult is nuts, but it's definitely not the most nuts thing DotA has had to deal with. We got through all the other insane crazy bullshit, and we'll get through this too. It's just that all the people who either never played DotA 1 or forgot how DotA 1 was aren't used to an overtuned hero getting released straight into DotA 2. People should get used to this, as it's quite frequent for Icefrog to release remakes/new heroes on the OP side. Just take it as it is and be glad we only get new heroes every 6 months to a year, rather than once every few weeks like some other games. The biggest WTF for me about the Centaur thing is that he didn't leave the CM pool in Dota 1. Yeah, that should have been a given. Fortunately, he removed Centaur from -cm in 6.76c before any major DotA 1 tournaments started using it. Change of topic: Resume Delivery on courier most desired feature not yet ported from DotA 1. Yes/No? The thing with DotA 1 is that nobody is forcing tournaments to use the newest version, unlike Dota 2. It was not uncommon for DotA tournies to use a version or two outdated maps.

Chinese/SEA have been directly using the newest version for quite some time now. When a hero has over 65% winrate across the board that is a serious flaw, and even if it is just pubs (you know, the place where 99% of your player base plays in) it can be game ruining and people will just stop playing if something is retardedly broken. But he also knows what he wants, and that's why he ignored maelk's idea of removing the global since I'm guessing he wants to make the game more aggressive and kill based. Dota 2 also has better ways of collecting statistics. Personally I really like how icefrog is handling things. He doesn't try and force every hero to become part of competitive play, and he's doing well balancing pub play at the same time.

YOU DO NOT BALANCE BASED ON PUBLIC STATS. Using this logic, you could just the heroes with over 50% winrate in pubs and nerf those and then buff those with under 50% winrate. This is not how you do things, Dota is not balanced for pubs, it is balanced for competitive play, and because of that, public winrate stats are COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. It's been a day and he was already forced into changing it. That's in no way enough time for players to learn how to play with or against a completely new ability. Stuff like this is hindering the evolution of DotA, just because people can't handle losing to an imba hero.
