GOMTV recently updated with confirmation about Noah "moletrap" Kalb as new caster for Code A. It's been rumoured for quite some time, butnow we finally got a new confirmed caster.
A new commentator, Noah "moletrap" Kalb will be joining us for GSL May! Moletrap will be commentating with ‘doa’ for Code A matches.
Moletrap has casted many live events both online and offline and was selected as the official SC caster for WCG US Final 08. He has also casted a several VT Opens and some reddit events with the most recent event being CSL Invitational. Moletrap likes to play as Random or Zerg.
Don't forget to tune in at 6:10PM KST (+9 GMT) on April 18th to see the new casting duo in action.!
yay! I remember when casting meant moletrap, diggity and klaz (and later cholera). You guys were great then, best of luck as you usher in the next generation of starcrafters
I think it would be a pretty cool idea if they kept rotating casters.
The fact it provides the viewer variety. It gives alot of exposure for alot of lesser-known casters. It provides alot of good experience for these casters (live environment/co-casting with multiple people/cameras on casters/monies).
If it is intended I think GOM is contributing ALOT to the SC2 "esports" by doing this.
awsome to get moletrap. But i don't think the rotating caster thing is a good idea. I mean it took Tastosis at least one or two seasons to get as good as they are now. Give them time to become good!

omg i totally remember this! this is what really got me into watching sc :D
oh yeah... I'm so glad he made it... Moletrap, Klazart and Diggity got me into the whole starcraft-thing in the first place. Now I've got zero doubt in renewing my GOM TV subscription. hell yeah!

Regardless, huge grats to Moletrap, well deserved!
DoeTrap
Lol, laughing so hard. ^^
GL Moletrap! You're an awesome person & caster and so is Doa. I don't see how this team of you two could possibly not work out (is that what the word order is supposed to be? o_o ugly phrase x_x). At the same time I'm kind of worried for the moment GSL will rotate one of you out for the potential next candidate. I really think they should stick with the two of you.
Holy sweet, this is awesome :D As many others, I too was first drawn into SC about 2 years ago, thanks to Moletrap. And Klazart, Diggity, Cholera, Rise and Nuke.
He deserves this more than ANY other commentator does. Any. I have not heard of Doa before, but good luck to him as well! But Moletrap must be there. He is the greatest, and he's been there longer than almost everyone (except tasteless, artosis and Day9 I suppose). So good luck to Moletrap, and bury Kelly, she doesn't deserve it.

Big hearts to all of you, and good luck Moletrap!
Longer than 2 years, but this. That squad is legendary. Every one of them deserves to be there.
Doesn't surprise me. I always enjoyed his casting, he's a great guy and he gave some deep insight into BW. I know less about him in SC2, but I'm convinced he'll bring it.
Definitely a nice idea to rotate the casters like that.
He was the one who like first started saying "I'm curious to see", "I'm interested to see", etc.
He provides background on the players every single game at the beginning, going into their records and playstyles, and never says "um". Like, um, never. He's a freaking beast, best commentator I've ever heard with Day a close second due to his amazing improvisational skills (Blizzcon anyone?). That's always the part you can't judge by youtube casts: How will they do when it hits the fan?
Not hating on Moletrap, he's definitely part of the old guard. I'm curious to see how my man will do live under pressure if something goes haywire.
this post is both contentless and bagging on someone. Not a good combo.
A contradictory combo, in fact.
I don't go around starting anti-Moletrap threads, and I can agree that flames and negativity aren't generally very conducive to good discussion, but a thread filled with mindless praise is not much better, imo. I get that Moletrap has contributed a lot to the community by doing so many commentaries, and judging from this thread, a lot of people have enjoyed them. Nonetheless, I would like to respectfully register my disagreement with the above-quoted statement of Spekulatius.
wow I nostalgia'd hard, Moletrap is the first commentator I followed 3 years agoalong with Klaz Diggity Rise and Cholera... I wonder what happened to the rest of the crew...
Yaaaay! It's official! I'll have to make sure to check it out. I still haven't managed to catch any Code A games. But I will try extra hard to get up early for moletrap!
I mean, Congratulations to the new Caster!. But where did Kelly go?. Is this just normal rotation? Or is she gone?. I kinda liked her =( , she was cute and fun to watch. Especially when paired up with Artosis.

agreed. those 4 got me into starcraft years back, they were awesome and keep being awesome moletrap!
OMG YES! I'm so happy, I cannot verbally express my rapture over these incredible news! I won't have to listen to code A muted anymore. My skeptic mind still refuses to grasp this overoptimistic reality. Kelly drove me to the edge of nihilism and disbelief of any hope for humankind over her incredibly extensive stay as a code A commentator, which felt like eternity. I know TL staff likes to warn and ban for drastic expressions, but I don't care, I must emanate my overwhelming emotions, that I'm about to explode with!
Good luck to Moletrap! He's the one that got me back into SC and made me fall in love with the competitive scene. Used to love all the content he, cholera, klazart all put out back in the Broodwar era
Moletrap, I've been watching you since your first cast in broodwar. You have always been such a great guy and you deserve the best. Congratulations man, you did it.
Moletrap is so fun to hear that I actually started to watch Brood War because of him and never get used to listen to commentators in my native language.
If the YouTube video that sucuriju posted above is any indication, these casts should be good! Both Moletrap and Doa have clear casting voices and they will adapt well to the broadcast, I think. Good luck!
Just reminiscing about about all of those times Moletrap had to do whisper casts cause it was like 4 AM and he didn't wanna wake his roomies. Such gosu dedication.
Moletrap has come a long way from casting OSL finals from his car, and it's great to see the passion he's shown for Starcraft, Starcraft II, and E-SPORTS rewarded. I wish him the best.
Yes, congrats Moletrap!!! I'm so glad he's got a shot at doing something big now, after all this time... unfortunately I think this means he won't be doing any more BW commentaries for a long time. But it's okay, after his apparent struggling for a job (maybe not recently, but a while back iirc) has finally paid off, I'm so happy that Moletrap made it! Now if only Diggity wasn't married .
Congrats Moletrap, glad to see you getting the recognition you deserve. Your casts were what got me in to competitive Starcraft in the first place. I can't wait to watch you in the GSL. I might even have to watch some non-Z games now lol
YES! Moletrap <3 Been a fan since 08, and I've only watched your commantarys consistantly. So happy for you, and now I finally know your irl name Someone better get at WHERESCHOLERA name or question going Gratz Moletrap!
I always really enjoyed his BW casting when he wasn't going on some random long tangents. They were just a little too long and a little too frequent. That being said, when he was on his casting A game, it was really fun to watch. He's very informative and brings good energy to his casting. I think being on the big stage and having a co-caster we'll see a lot more of his A game.
Wow, I remember moletrap back from when he just started casting (he was sooo bad lol). He's really gotten better as a caster and worked so hard for this.
You deserve this buddy! Congrats! You better not slack off on your BW commentaries while you're over there! Take a video camera and show us what it's like inside a real BW match in a studio!
Moletrap is SOLID. In fact, I would argue that it is a perfect pick. He has game insight, has a keen eye for detail and uses informative as well as smooth camera panning (constantly watching mini map).
I love his BW casts but the last SC2 cast I saw of him (which was a long while ago) I wasn't very impressed. I sure hope he has improved because I'm really looking forward to his casting. Good luck, Moletrap!

They're just doing 1 season trials.
screw that kelly better be rejected. Moletrap and doa are way better and not annoying as hell.

I don't really like Moletrap's voice. Its kinda..... weak. But not fair to criticise what he can't change;think he's a great caster otherwise overall. Looking forward to this.
Too cool. Moletrap you're my favorite after Klazart... but he's retired so I guess I have to retract and say you're my favorite! Hope you get code S one day...

Well, Ranshin just resigned, but there's still Nuke and Dejavu.

Nuke the Stars is an Awesome commentator, he makes me Happy. Before him, there were not that many I would watch on youtube, I know he get his stuff out a bit later than nevake but its Always shiny and colourful.
Not so sure about moletrap, I don't dislike the guy but I find his commentaries a bit trying. I'll probably warm to him after seeing him cast code a though.
maybe it will be watchable again, i once tuned in to hear some korean girl cast and she was horrible, made by ears bleed, her english accent was so annoying, the voice was loud and squeaky and the things she said was mostly wrong. I didn't w8 to find out who it was and hasn't dared to tune in to check again xD
Moletrap was one of the first English commentators I listened to when I found the BW scene, before I understood enough to enjoy watching games without any commentary.
Really glad to see him finally seeing some payoff for all the work he's put in over the years.

Doa is a pretty great guy tbh, he definitely stepped up for the Code A qualifier updates this time too. Nice voice, and if Moletrap can provide deeper analysis, I think they'll be a great combo.
hmm.. Looking forward to Code A casting even though I don't pay attention to the cast, but I'm sure it'll be the best Code A so far since MVP,Boxer is in there .

me too she had great knowledge of the game and big enthusiasm, imo she was perfect for the job.
Please tell me you are joking. How can people can still miss the main points with the real issue at hand is beyond me. The only thing she had going was her enthusiasm.
As Rekrul said, what is the world coming to?
I cannot wait to find out what other candidates GOM has lined up for the job. It should be interesting nonetheless.
GJ Moletrap. Nice to see an old SC2GG caster getting the spotlight! Anyone know what happened to the other ones? I think I heard diggity had a pizza joint in California somewhere...

... except for the squeaky voice and pronounciation
you are right if you gotta complain about something it would be that, it was kind of hard the first time but then it didn't bother me one bit. Not enough to discard a great caster imo.
This is pretty cool. I wonder if Klazart follows the sc2 scene. Maybe he needs to return in order for a Savior to appear for the zerg race. But back to moletrap, I'm not gonna lie, I've always imagined him to like this:
Boy - oh - BOY! I'm SO happy with Moletrap! I mean, I liked Kelly and kinda like Doa, but that guy blows them straight out of the water... I'd love to see an Artosis - Moletrap duo cast ^^.
Moletrap gets really excited when nukes are entering the game. I see this as a pattern in his casting even through today. I noticed that his casting gets better each day, or he gets better during each cast. I bet GSL will have a hard time letting him or Doa go. One thing I noticed with GSL casters is that time is a large factor in their improvement. Not only do both teams get better, but I observe that they are paying attention to areas they want to work on. I would be sad if we lost this Code A duo. + Show Spoiler +
I was worried that Moletrap was temporary but during his interview with Artosis it seems he wants to stay in the GSL.
I hate MoleTrap, he sucks and has girly voice. If they want somebody who sounds like a girl they should take actual girl --> Kelly. Anyways, she is far better than that little girly voice shouting no starcraft knowledge MoleTrap....

:\ Not the biggest fan of his, but it's not really his fault...he obviously loves his job and tries really hard, I guess I'm just used to the perfection of Tasteosis.
Yeah, I actually thought Moletrap and Doa became a really good team. The first few days were a little awkward but once they got used to each other they became my second favorite casting pair, behind Tastosis but ahead of incontrol/gretorp or day9+anyone. I hope to see more of them sometime.
Moletrap was really good, but Wolf has been the best Code A caster they've had so far.
Wolf + QXC was amazing (maybe cuz they are both FXO and have tons of chemistry and work amazing together) as well as Wolf + Unstable I've been growing to like a lot as well.
