(And who can resist an interview featuring BW's celebrity Frotoss?) Last year, B-team pro gamers took the center stage of the Dream League and created a “KimJangLimPark” line that was along the lines of “TaekBangLeeSsang”. [T/N: “KimJangLimPark” are the last names compiled of the 4 star rookies in 2010.] Woongjin’s Zerg player who made an all-kill
Neo.G_Soulkey, chosen as “Best Rookie of 2010” Hite’s Snow, and leading their team Samsung’s Brave and 
TurN were the ones that made up that line.However, after a year, interest has faded in the “KimJangLimPark” line and new interest has been shifted to SK Telecom’s performance in this year’s Proleague 10-11 season. Soon,
Paralyze’s broccoli-like hairstyle became a hot topic, along with fellow newcomer by.Sun who gathered growing interest through his excellent debut games.This season, by.Sun participated in a total of 11 games in Proleague and displayed a 6 win 5 loss record, while Paralyze in the 2010 Bacchus Starleague defeated both “Miracle Boy”
Leta (Hite Entus) and great (Samsung KHAN) in one blow; advancing to the Round of 16 and making his name be known to the world.The two have secured positions in SK Telecom with other imposing Protosses such as the “Revolutionist”
Bisu and the “Monster” BeSt, but there is no mistaking that they are happy as rookies to be introduced as key players that support their team from behind.In order to create more self-confidence in 2011 for the same age Protosses by.Sun and Paralyze who were both born in 1992 and jumpstart the new year, we listened to the stories of the two rookies who seem similar to each other at first glance, but greatly differ from each other once you get to know them more.

- Please give a simple self-introduction for the fans that still aren’t too familiar with you yet.
▲ Paralyze: My name is Paralyze of SK Telecom T1’s Protoss line. Since my hairstyle is quite unique, my fans call me “Crazy Presence Paralyze” (laughs). [T/N: What the fans mean by “Crazy Presence” is one’s presence felt by others… Sort of like an aura. So when Paralyze stands around in a room, you bet his hair’s presence is felt by everyone. By “crazy”, they mean that a ton of force is felt by everyone because of his hair.]
▲ Sun: Hello. I’m Sun of SK Telecom T1’s Protoss line. I’m 20 years old [T/N: 18 years old in Western age], and my hometown is Shinrim. [T/N: Located in Seoul] I don’t really have anything else to add (laughs).
- What are your thoughts of being invited together to an interview as new faces?
▲ Paralyze: For the time being, I appreciate everything that Sun has accomplished so far. However, I only got a brief moment of fame when I advanced to the Round of 16 in the Starleague, then got quickly eliminated with 3 losses. I still don’t have any wins in Proleague, which is really disheartening.
▲ Sun: These are all lies (laughs).
▲ Paralyze: No they’re not. It’s just meaningless talk I’ve been hearing about lately (laughs). Up to the point where I talked about my hairstyle, it was all meaningless talk.
▲ Sun: I’m happy that we were able to get an interview together, but since I don’t really have any popularity at all, I feel buried by Paralyze’s mass popularity. Paralyze really has a lot of popularity.
▲ Paralyze: It looks like I have a lot of popularity on the surface, but it’s really not like that.
▲ Sun: Paralyze seems to be hiding the fact that he actually has fans. But I really don’t have any popularity at all.
- Does it feel like you’re slowly gaining more fans?
▲ Paralyze: I feel that Sun is gaining more fans for himself.
▲ Sun: When a match ends, fans always come over with lots of presents in their hands and give them all to Paralyze. Paralyze has more popularity than me. [T/N: Aww, poor Sun! Someone go give this poor guy a present
]- Were both of you enrolled into teams at the same time period?
▲ Paralyze: In the beginning, I entered the team (SKT) as a practice partner. It was around October 2008, I think? After being a practice partner for a while, I passed the draft the next year and became an official member of the team.
▲ Sun: I was a practice partner for another team. At the time Paralyze was enrolled into SK Telecom, I was enrolled into MBC Game.
- Before you were both put together into one team, did you know each other?
▲ Paralyze: We were both active in the NsP clan, so we knew a little about each other.
▲ Sun: We weren’t that close to each other though (laughs). We only knew each other’s names, so just greeting each other was the only amount of contact we had. Paralyze didn’t really like me that much online. He would only return my greetings once in a while (laughs).
▲ Paralyze: That is so not true at all. Don’t believe him.
- Do you remember your first impression of each other?
▲ Sun: I was just amazed. His hair was so poofy (laughs). But since I already knew that he was a kind and friendly person, I was comfortable with him.
▲ Paralyze: At that time, Sun wasn’t as tall as he is now, so he didn’t really stand out to me. Since I didn’t have many opportunities to talk to him, I don’t really remember what my first impression of him was like.
- Even though you didn’t really talk with each other in the past, does it seem like you were able to get close to each other since you both played the same race?
▲ Paralyze: We’re close now. Sun teases me a lot. Even though
BeSt is a hyung [T/N: “Hyung” in Korean means older brother and is used as a respectful/affectionate term and does not mean blood relation] and is older, he joins in and teases me as well.▲ Sun: Everyone on the team teases Paralyze. That’s why I join in with their teasing.
▲ Paralyze: Whatever I do, everyone makes fun of me for it. For about 2 years I’ve put up with
BeSt hyung’s bullying, but now I’m used to it (laughs).- Do
Bisu and BeSt as Protoss hyungs bully you a lot?▲ Paralyze:
BeSt hyung always teases me, and since we often hang out together, he stays by my side and teases me all day long. That’s why I’m having such a hard time. Bisu hyung also teases me, but recently, a younger newcomer has entered our Protoss line, so I finally got liberated.▲ Sun: I’m not really the type of person that gets bullied by others very often.
▲ Paralyze: Including

Paralyze who first received interest through his unique hairstyle
- Both of you suddenly gathered interest from fans at the same time.
▲ Paralyze: That seems so. However, before he got any attention at all, Sun was already doing well in friendly matches within our team. For me, my results weren’t really that great, but since I was able to avoid Zergs, my least confident matchup, I was able to pass through the preliminaries. I got a bit lucky. If I had met a Zerg, then I wouldn’t have advanced at all.
▲ Sun: Why did we both gather interest at the same time (laughs)? It seems that both of us getting interest at the same time is too coincidental. However, I personally think that I haven’t gathered any interest yet. People out there still don’t know me that well, so I don’t think that I have any interest yet.
▲ Paralyze: It seems that I’ve made more progress in gathering direct awareness from people. [T/N: That hair of yours works miracles, Frotoss!]
- The reasons why you gathered interest are so different from each other.
▲ Paralyze: I have no hard feelings about it. Of course I know that my hairstyle is quite unique. Since I’m gathering interest through it, I’m thankful that I have such a unique feature that people are curious about.
▲ Sun: Since results are more important to me, I’m not envious of not having a unique hairstyle (laughs).
- (To Paralyze) At that time you advanced to the Round of 16 in Starleague with difficulties; you suffered from getting a team kill and got eliminated with 3 losses.
▲ Paralyze: It was really regretful. Even though I had a chance to come back in the end, I let that chance slip away from me.
- (To Paralyze) You stirred up interest by being in the same group as
Flash.▲ Paralyze: I didn’t think that I’d really advance that far in the first place. That’s why I wanted to try having a match against a good player. And since he was a KT player, I really wanted to win against him. After we lost to KT in Round 2 of Proleague, our condition was a little strained, which made me want to win even more, but in the end, I disappointingly lost.
▲ Sun: It doesn’t seem that embarrassing since you lost as an unknown player.
▲ Paralyze: No, it is embarrassing (laughs). Anyhow, he drew me in the lottery and won against me. Still, it’s better for a nameless player to stir up interest rather than staying unknown forever.
- (To Sun) On the other hand, you couldn’t continue the winning streak you had at the beginning of the season and had it broken around the same time Paralyze started getting losses.
▲ Sun: I didn’t really think that I did that well in the beginning of the season though (laughs). I used to dwell a lot over why I had my winning streak broken at that time, but now I’m fine. If I get at least more than 5 wins in Proleague, then that will be alright with me.

On the other hand, Sun got his name known through his active participation in Proleague
- Which race are you most confident in playing against?
▲ Paralyze: I have confidence against Terrans. However, it seems that my strong points in facing off against them have disappeared now (laughs). Even if I practice within my head, it seems that I cannot win these days.
▲ Sun: Except for PvP, I have confidence against all races. I really hate losing to build order losses.
- Do you think that Zerg is a hard race to play against?
▲ Paralyze: Facing off against Zerg is the most hardest in any situation.
▲ Sun: For me, I think that facing off against Protoss is the hardest. It’s stressful because there’s a 50-50 chance that you’ll lose because you picked the wrong build.
- Out of
Bisu and BeSt as your seniors on the same team as you, whose style do you think is close to yours?▲ Paralyze: It seems that whoever sits next to me is important, since they can impact me. It seems that I have a lot of similarities with
BeSt hyung, and the coach thinks so as well.▲ Sun: I don’t think that either of their styles are close to mine. But if I had to pick, I guess that
Bisu hyung’s style is kind of close to mine, but I just go with my own style when I play.- In the future, if there’s anything that you want to learn from those two hyungs, what do you want to learn from them?
▲ Paralyze: I usually hear that BeSt hyung is good versus Terran, and that Bisu hyung is good versus Zerg, and it seems that those sayings are right. Frankly, because facing off against Zerg is my worst matchup, I want to learn a lot from Bisu hyung. He teaches me a lot of things at my side, and gives me a lot of advice for Protoss. I’m really trying my best to improve against Zergs. Sun is really good against Zergs though. Since no one really has to teach him anything, he always does really well against Zergs (laughs).
▲ Sun: I just want to learn from Bisu hyung good multitasking skills along with how to prepare seriously for matches and the like, but since BeSt hyung doesn’t sit next to me, I don’t really know what I want to learn from him. Paralyze sits next to BeSt hyung, and I sit next to Bisu hyung, you see. But since BeSt hyung is good against Terrans, I want to learn from him as well.
- On the contrary, have you ever helped your hyungs out before?
▲ Paralyze: If they have a match coming up, I do my best to help them out with practice. Since the hyungs have more experience and go far in matches, rather than us helping them, it seems that we’re learning more from them than them learning from us.
▲ Sun: But Paralyze always doesn’t really help them out. Whenever the hyungs go ask him for advice, he always sits still with this expressionless look on his face.
▲ Paralyze: That’s not true. Because I only have what Coach
Doctor.K has taught me, I’m not exactly the most reliable person to ask advice from.▲ Sun: He’s not an expert on giving advice.
▲ Paralyze: Whenever Sun says, “He’s hiding again,” and

- What are the reasons why you became a pro gamer?
▲ Paralyze: Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved playing games. When I was 8 years old, that was when game programs began appearing on TV, and that time was exactly when
BoxeR hyung became prosperous and popular. After watching Starcraft on TV, I abandoned playing other games and started to play only Starcraft. Playing only Starcraft made me the best player at my school, and as a result I became a pro gamer.▲ Sun: I also started watching Starcraft back then when it was on Tooniverse, and at that time when I saw the pro gamers, I thought that being a pro gamer was a dream job, since you could earn money for playing the games that I loved. I vaguely remember thinking, “I want to be a pro gamer” when I was a 1st grade elementary school student, but didn’t know the process of how to be a pro gamer. So I went on living life as usual, but when I was a freshman in high school, I entered the Courage tournament by chance and unexpectedly advanced to the finals in one go. It seemed that if I tried again I could make it, so I prepared for my next chance and became a semi-pro, and from there I thought that I should become a pro gamer.
- When you look at your friends that are the same age as you, do you start worrying about academic studies?
▲ Paralyze: As for me, I’m still in the middle of continuing my studies, so it’s possible for me to graduate high school. Sun dropped out of school, but since it’s possible for me to graduate, I don’t have any regrets about continuing my studies, and I think that if I do well here (as a pro gamer), then things will be fine.
▲ Sun: I dropped out of school in order to become a pro gamer, but since I didn’t do that well with academic studies in the past, I don’t have any regrets regarding schoolwork. I had attended school until my 2nd year of high school, but since I didn’t worry at all about grades and school and such and didn’t really care about it, I stopped going to school. It was really regrettable though. But recently I’ve been looking into transferring to another school.
- Talk about the benefits of SK Telecom T1 for the fans that don’t know your team that well.
▲ Paralyze: No matter who looks at our team, it seems that there are all good points to go around. Our players are layered with many merits along with faults, and if you do well, then you’ll receive good treatment, which I like a lot.
▲ Sun: Please support us a lot in various ways.
▲ Paralyze: If we do well, then we will be able to get even better support from others, so we are trying our best.
▲ Sun: Everyone is very kind, and has points that are only to be proud of. The coaching staff is also like that, so please treat all of us well.
- When you have any free time or on vacations, what do you usually do, and do you have any particular hobbies?
▲ Paralyze: I like listening to music and watching movies. However, I don’t have any time to go to the movie theater. Ah, I also like the manga “One Piece” as well.
▲ Sun: I really don’t have any special hobbies.
▲ Paralyze: Sun likes watching “Secret Garden”. [T/N: “Secret Garden” is a mega-popular Korean drama that ended recently. It was a biiiiig hit in Korea, almost everyone in Korea knows of it, and there are countless parodies of it. My mom had to tune in every week to watch it, and if she missed an episode, she would raise hell.]
▲ Sun: Paralyze doesn’t watch the super-popular “Secret Garden”. During the time when it airs, he watches the One Piece anime instead (laughs).
- Do you look up articles about yourself, or comments or feedback about you in the community?
▲ Paralyze: I’ve taken extra care to look at all the comments about me after I got some wins in the OSL (laughs). I even looked up stuff after I had gotten 3 losses, but then I thought, “I better not look at any more comments,” so I didn’t look up any more stuff about me after that time.
▲ Sun: I look at everything that’s about me (laughs). I’ve even looked up my name on Naver before. [T/N: Naver is one of the top search engines in Korea.]
▲ Paralyze: I also look up my name often.
- Do you have any memories of the most funny or interesting comments left about you?
▲ Paralyze: At first, I got happy when I saw comments that said I was doing well. But then, I started to see the “meaningless talk” that I mentioned earlier (laughs). [T/N: Paralyze’s answer to the 2nd interview question when Sun was accusing him of lying] To say that I only did 8 official matches that were all meaningless… [T/N: Ooh, Paralyze is definitely bitter here. He isn’t too happy that netizens said his wins were worth nothing.]
▲ Sun: If I win, I don’t get any praise, and even if I lose, I don’t get any insults either. Getting not that much praise when I won was really disappointing. [T/N: Invisible Terran Light, meet Invisible Protoss Sun. Haw haw haw sunlight~ Oh, that was just baaaaad.]

Remembering a comment that said, “Even his ability, just like his hairstyle, is meaningless”
- (To Paralyze) Have you ever had an episode that was related to your unique hairstyle?
▲ Paralyze: When I was little, I always had a short hairstyle that was called “Sports Hair”. But when I became a middle school student, since I was a teenager, I was at an age where I wanted to look cool to everyone. I had wanted to grow my hair long, and when I was at the height of being sensitive to what I looked like to others, I always went directly to this qualified hairdresser lady every single day. Other than that, I never straightened my hair before. I also was never really made fun of for my hair, not even once. [T/N: Paralyze uses the word “magic straight”, which is basically just straightening your hair with chemical hair product. Since he’s never done “magic straight” before, his afro is 100% all natural! :D Also, I looked up “Sports Hair”, and it basically looks like your regular Air Force ACE player hairstyle…]
- Honestly, before you debuted, tell us which player you were a fan of.
▲ Paralyze: My role model was
BoxeR hyung. Because I liked BoxeR hyung, I also liked T1 as a team itself. I originally played Terran, but then I switched my race to Protoss. I used to think that commentator Kingdom when he was still a pro gamer was really impressive, but after he retired, there wasn’t a Protoss player that really stuck out in T1 until Bisu hyung, the Protoss player that was doing the most well at that time, came to T1. Since then, I’ve also come to like Bisu hyung a lot.▲ Sun: I liked
YellOw a lot in the past. My original race used to be Zerg. But then the game programs stopped showing at my house, so after not watching them for a long time, I started to watch them again when I was in the 2nd year of middle school, and Stork was doing well at that time. - Is there anything that you’re envious about with each other?
▲ Paralyze: I’m jealous of Sun’s skill. Because I’m still unsatisfied with my plays and still lacking in a lot of areas, I’m jealous of Sun’s skill.
▲ Sun: I’m also jealous of Paralyze’s skill. He’s too good. He’s “God Kyung Doo”, you know (laughs). [T/N: Kyung Doo is Paralyze’s real name, and “God Kyung Doo” is a play on Flash’s nickname “God Young Ho”.]
▲ Paralyze: But when we play friendly matches within our team, Sun almost always plays better than me and is ranked higher than me.
- If you gave away your ability and received another one, which one would you get?
▲ Paralyze: I want to have more confidence in myself. Since I always get treated badly by others, all of my self-confidence has disappeared. If I form more confidence in myself, then things will probably turn out for the better. Because of the hyungs [bullying me], even their voices keep on repeating over and over again in my head (laughs).
▲ Sun: Since I like myself, I don’t want to change anything about myself at all (laughs).
- The new year has started; what kind of internal and external goals have you set up for gaming?
▲ Paralyze: Because I’m a gamer, I want to be good at games. I still don’t have any wins in Proleague, so getting 1 win there is the first thing I must do. Since I’ve been to the OSL, I also want to go to the MSL, and wish that I can go a little farther in the OSL next time. I want to become a player that is able to contribute to their team.
▲ Sun: Right now, my goal is to get at least 18 wins in Proleague. I want to make 3 wins every round. My goal is also passing both individual leagues’ preliminaries. And of course, making sure that our team wins the overall championship.
- Of course it’s natural that you would want to win the Proleague or the individual leagues’ championships, but are there any personal goals that you have set for yourself?
▲ Paralyze: I want to lose a little weight. I’m a little chubbier than I really look, so I think I should lose some weight.
▲ Sun: I want to have better relationships with other people. I thought over it, and it seems that I don’t have any friends that I’m really close with. I think that I should improve my relationships with others.

▲ Paralyze: I think that Sun will be able to achieve his goals that he mentioned. I don’t know if we both think the same way, but Sun gives a lot of motivation to me. I used to think that we were rivals at first, but now I no longer have those kinds of thoughts. I’ve formed the mindset of wanting the two of us as friends to improve ourselves, and since I now have the mindset of wanting to do my best to catch up and overtake him, I really like the friendly competition between us. It would be great if the both of us would do well together.
▲ Sun: I better say something nice as well (laughs)? It would be nice if Paralyze would lose some weight. And it would be nice if he could achieve his first win in Proleague as well; it would be great if everything worked out well. [T/N: Talking about Paralyze’s weight is not a warm wish to him for the new year, Sun. Sun’s just joking around as friends, it’s a light-hearted joke~]
- Any last words you want to say before we come to a close?
▲ Paralyze: Since it’s New Year’s, I hope that everyone receives a lot of good fortune, and will do my best in the new year to become a player that is able to gather interest not from their outward appearance, but from their plays in games.
▲ Sun: I hope that everyone has a happy new year, and I want to tell the fans that have been supporting me that I am always thankful to them. Our team has continuously stayed in 1st place, but our force that we had in Round 1 seems to have disappeared. If we all work hard and try our best together to be able to go to Gwangahnri [T/N: the place where the Proleague finals are held] this time as well, that would be great.
