Thoughts on advancing from the prelims?
I felt like it was the most basic goal I had to accomplish. I want to quickly enter the MSL; I'm very eager. After advancing happily from prelims, I'll play well in MST as well, because getting into the MSL is the most important.
You won by defeating two protosses.
Actually, aside from Dante's Peak SE, all of the maps were playable for both sides. Recently, I've been practicing TvP a lot, and I've collected some wins in SPL. I have plenty of confidence, so there's no problem.
Recently, your team has been underperforming in SPL.
I'm avid about the team's success, and I've demonstrated that eagnerness in WL, but the results are still lacking. The team's recently been weighed down, but we have a strong fighting spirit. I think our results will steadily improve, and I've maintained my winning percentage. We'll work hard to accomplish the results that everyone has been longing for.
Who do you hope to face in MST?
I hope to see P or T; TvZ is tough for me, and I wouldn't be confident about winning.
Anything else?
Good luck to all my teammates who are still playing! As the SWL and individual leagues continue, I'll work hard to perform well in both.

You've already announced your advancement via Twitter. It's nice, eh?
It's awesome. Having people read my words is nice. eSports fans react really fast.
Light changed teams to Woongjin.
We can't do anything about it. All of our remaining players need to pick up the pace. Even though our SPL performance is tanking, it wasn't because Light was leaving. Our momentum from before came to a halt. Now, with Light's departure, our team will continue to drop in the ranks. But I hope everyone works hard together to find that dominance again.
Anything else?
It seems like our younger players mostly failed to advance, which is regrettable. Even though the team's having tough times, I hope we can pull it together and get good results anyway. Han fighting!

[/b]The Ro4 in your group was a struggle.[/b]
I was toppled without even putting up a fight, which made me feel weak. I felt like my rookie opponent was incredible. I thought I might lose, but I also knew I had the upper hand in experience, so I went all out to grab the victory.
Compared to the start in SPL, you're performance seems to have cooled down.
I've been working hard the whole time, but bad things keep happening, so I've suffered setbacks in my momentum. It's tough. But I'll play better from now on, and I'll shoulder some of the responsibility for our ace Sea.
Your team need to fill the gap left by Light's transfer.
We'll work hard together to do so. Or maybe I myself can become the next pillar of MBC (haha).
Anything else?
I hope today's win can dispel some of the bad things that have befallen me. I want to make it into the MSL and end my losing streak in SPL. I also heard that Pusan was regrettably eliminated. In practice, he played really well, so it's a pity he didn't make it. Our team only has two players in the MST, and it's really sad.
Pure
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/FN3vT.jpg)
We rarely see you in SPL now.
I'm still not good enough, so I can't bear the responsibility of playing in SPL regularly. But as I play more, I'll show everyone some outstanding games.
Is it a drop in skill level that has led to your decreased playtime?
I don't feel that way. But my momentum has been completely stopped, so I need to get the gears turning again and crank up the practice time.
The MST is a chance for you to recover some of that strength.
I'll show it with results, not words. I've been working hard, so I should be able to perform well. From now on, I'll work even harder and aim higher.
Anything else?
Recently, even while playing very little, I've still accumulated a losing streak, but fans are nevertheless continuing to cheer me on, and I'm extremely thankful. Today, I fought my way into the MST, and I'll definitely repay everyone.
Sharp
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/MTUpy.jpg)
Thoughts on making your first MST?
I'm happy to the point of floating. I'm unbelievably glad to reach the grander stage I hoped for.
How did you practice?
After the prelims brackets came out, I practiced until 5 AM. I cut my sleep time, doing all I could do get more practice time in.
Has the sudden renaissance of your team's terran line been a motivational force?
Recently, even Reality got a 3kill, and I'm a bit envious. Against ACE, I was also the vanguard player, but I performed poorly. Turn also played with flying colors in SPL. Seeing these two terrans doing so well has imbued me with willpower.
Is your goal to get to the MSL?
If I can get to the group selection stage, I'll devote my life to eSports without hesitation. I don't want anyone to see me in a bad light; I hope they view me with a good spirit. I don't want to be “FBH 2.0”, I want to be “Sharp 1.0”.

Your thoughts on advancing from the preliminaries?
My opponent in the finals was
Bogus who is doing quite well recently, but since I’ve also been doing well in our team, he was an opponent where I could show my true potential to, so it was even better that I faced off against him. But since I’ve not been doing that well in Proleague lately, I heard
Anytime say to
YellOw hyung a little while ago, “Is HoeJJa still playing games these days?” That’s why I thought that I definitely had to show something in the preliminaries today.
It’s quite amazing how much
Action and
Perfective have been playing active roles for your team nowadays.
Our team’s atmosphere is really great. It’s because it seems that we’ve finally gotten rid of the image that we’re KTFlash. On one hand, I should be playing an active role as them, but after thinking it over a bit, I’ve received a lot of motivation from them and will definitely have to pass the preliminaries this time.
You achieved a 2:0 win against
Nbs in the Round of 4.
Since ZvP is one of my favorite matchups, I had confidence in myself.
Your last game against
Bogus was a drawn-out one. [T/N: Drawn-out, but so bad, so gooood. A must watch if you're a huge fan of epic fail, unorthodox strategies used, and another hilarious shenanigans.]
I was in an advantageous position, so I hurled many forces on him, but in the blink of an eye, he made a reversal with his mechanic army. But since it was a game where I held the advantage from the start, in the end I was able to win.
We hear a lot of comments that your momentum is really good in your team.
I do have pride that I show off my true strength as it is in our team. I also have confidence that I’ll do well if I get sent out in Proleague, but after seeing that the other teammates are doing well, it’s hard to grab opportunities to participate. It would be great if I could show the strength I display in practice also in broadcasted matches.
You have a record with many losses in Proleague. Compared to your true potential, it’s your worst record so far.
I don’t really know the reason why I’ve been losing so much. After seeing that I have been accumulating losses up to a 0 wins 7 losses record,
Reach hyung and
YellOw hyung who have experienced being in a slump before gave me lots of advice regarding that matter, so thanks to them I’ve been able to cheer up. At times like this, I feel that having seniors on your team is really a true help.
By taking advantage of your victory, how about you make a request to be sent out more in Winners’ League?
I do want to tell our manager to send me out as the first player in Winners’ League, but since we have so many good players on our team, I just want to tell him to use me to snipe Protosses. If my chance comes, then I want to have a huge success like
Perfective had. [T/N: Literally, “I want to have a daebak like Perfective”]
Any last words you want to say?
It has been such a long time since the last time I gave an interview, so I will have to try harder so that I will do them frequently in the future. Before my match today,
Violet hyung told me that if I was able to play my games just the same way like in practice, then I would be able to pass the preliminaries, so hearing that was a huge help to me. Even though he’s sick, he always fusses over and worries about me, so I’m really thankful to him. [T/N: Yay Violet, helping out and cheering on his team as always! :D]

We heard that this is the very first time you ever passed a Survivor Tournament.
It is the first time that I’ve passed it with my own hands. It’s been a long time since the last time I passed one in my entire gaming career, which is for some reason a bit troubling. But since I do have experience in the MSL, so that should keep me afloat and help me to survive (laughs).
How were your games today?
Since I didn’t know that
Kop had taken a secret expansion, I had to give up one game. The Zerg player also did an all-in against me; I passed the preliminaries, but because my performance wasn’t that good, I have some reflection to do.
Did you think that the preliminaries wouldn’t be that hard once you saw the name of your opponents?
When I came to the place of the preliminaries today, I had a huge burden on my shoulders and felt embarrassed. But after seeing that a lot of senior players had also came, it didn’t seem like something to be embarrassed about anymore.
Do you have confidence that you’ll go far in the MSL?
I thought that I would have confidence in myself if I passed the preliminaries, but now I’m starting to worry about it. But since it’s been a while since the last time I was in an individual league, I’ll do it for the sake of my fans and will really do my best to go far.
It seems that there is a weak atmosphere hanging around your team. [T/N: Who the hell is this interviewer, is it the Fantasy one again?]
Our team has kept on losing lately, but for the first time, I get the feeling that something is thrown off. There have been many unexpected defeats recently, but since everyone on our team has been doing well, we must win all of our remaining matches so that we can maintain our first place position. [T/N: *Insert Twilight Zone music here*] When I was sent out as the first player and wasn’t able to make even 1 kill and lost, I became really depressed, so it was really regrettable. If I get knocked out in the preliminaries as well, I think I’ll become even more depressed.

Since I was concentrating more on my Proleague games, I wasn’t able to practice for the preliminaries even once. I thought that I wouldn’t care if I won or lost, and by playing without worrying that much, I was able to have good results. Seeing that I was able to advance, I’m happy about it.
Did you expect
Pusan to advance to the finals?
I knew that
Pusan is good at beating Terrans but I thought that the Zerg player would advance from the Round of 4, so I mainly practiced for TvZ.
You lost your first match against him.
After I lost the first game, I received quite a shock. He hasn’t really been sent out recently, so I thought “Possibly” to myself, but he doesn’t seem to be that different from other good Protoss players out there.
You have been doing well in Winners’ League lately.
It seems like that, but my winning rate hasn’t really been that great. But since my condition has been good and my games have been going well recently, it’s a relief. In order to restore the same winning rate I had in the past, since I still have a long way to go before I achieve that kind of record again, I’ll do my best to keep on practicing solidly.
You had advanced in both the OSL and MSL to the Round of 8.
It would be great if I were able to show good results in both the Proleague and the individual leagues by working hard and doing my best.

At first when I learned that I had advanced, I was bewildered, but I’m happy about it. I will do my best to work even harder from now on.
How did you advance the finals?
I was too nervous, so I played too safely and lost a game in the beginning. That’s why I thought that even though I lost, I would play confidently in the next game, and after playing with confidence my games went well.
You defeated
BaBy in the finals.
PvT is my favorite matchup, and since I usually have confidence in PvT, I wasn’t nervous about it.
You won with a 2:0 record, but even in your games did you have a complete victory? [T/N: Implying one-sidedness]
The 1st set was a little intense, but I was able to win the 2nd game relatively easily.
It seems that the feelings of you actually advancing from the finals hasn’t sunken in yet.
I’ve been sent out in Proleague 2 times before, but I still haven’t been able to get any wins yet. But still, if I prepare for those kind of experiences, then I think that I’ll be able to do better next time.
What kind of style are you comfortable playing with?
I play in a style similar to
BeSt’s where macro is the key to my play. I have confidence that I am able to macro up as much as
BeSt does. [T/N: BeSt: *Reading this* *Jaw drops in shock* “Wat?!?? This guy sure is ballsy!!”]
Who do you want to meet in the finals?
Since I’m most comfortable with PvT, it would be great if I met a Terran player in the next round. I also have confidence with PvZ, but since I still don’t really have the gist of PvP, I want to avoid facing off against a Protoss player.

My games weren’t that hard in the Round of 4. However, my games in the finals were close. I had wanted to play a macro game, but my opponent forced me to do an all-in move. I don’t like to receive harassment, and my opponent kept on harassing me, so I couldn’t stand it any longer and had to do an all-in. [T/N: “You harass me? I end game nao.”]
We hear that your results are very good in friendly team matches.
My results in the team seem to be getting a lot better. I usually have confidence against Protosses, and recently I’ve been sharing strategies with
Bisu, so I’ve been learning a lot from him.
Your force in Proleague hasn’t been that good recently.
Even though I haven’t been getting many chances to participate in Proleague, if I find my momentum in the individual leagues again, then I’ll probably be able to grab another opportunity in Proleague.
You’ve even had the experience of going through the experience of getting teamkilled and showing a regrettable performance before.
I’ve been set back countless times because of
Fantasy. It happened to me before in the past, and last time’s Starleague as well; I used to have confidence that I would be able to rise someday, but losing to our team’s Terran
Fantasy has made my strength quickly deteriorate (laughs). [T/N: Lmfaooo, Jung Laden League Terrorist indeed~]

Thoughts on entering the MST?
I've been a progamer for 5 years, but in the individual leagues I'm always stuck in prelims; it's really regrettable. Today, I hoped to work exceptionally hard, but as a result I played a lot of tough games consecutively [T/N unsure]
You had some long games.
The third and final game of my group's finals took a whole 52 minutes. Dante's Peak SE's minerals were completely mined out. The start of the game was good, but it turned into a long game, so I thought my opponent had turned the tables on me. In both series, I lost one game, so I think luck was definitely not on my side. Still, I advanced, so I think someone was looking out for me.
Your best MSL performance so far is Ro16.
The Ro16 players in the MSL are always incredible, and I can't really match up to them. But this time I must play well so I can advance even further.
Recently in SPL, your opponents have been coming back to win.
In SPL, we were 3-killed by KT's rookie Perfective. We worked hard in practice, but to be toppled by a rookie was a severe blow. We thought we had the series for sure after beating the final boss, but we encountered unexpected trouble.
You're also in a slump recently.
I'm working hard to break out, but it seems I'm still not ready yet. I had already steadied myself to play against ACE, but I lost, and it feels like I'm blowing everything. My hopes and dreams are being extinguished, which is devastating.
Do you have confidence in the MST?
Before, I didn't have experience, but I found it easier to enter the MSL. Once I gained experience, I became really cautious, but that also blocked me from playing freely. I need to recover my confidence and perform well at MST.
Anything else?
I really hope to enter the finals of an individual league. Seeing other players participate in the finals makes me feel like it's a tough task, but I have faith in myself. I'll aim toward the finals.

Thoughts on advancing from the prelims?
It's the first time in my career that I managed to advance. But whether I get good news or bad news, my face will always flush red. Today, it's the red of happiness.
What did it feel like in the moment you advanced?
I thought I should feel deeply moved, but strangely enough I felt reserved. I beat former teammate Frozen, and there's no way I could feel very happy about that. In fact, I feel apologetic. Frozen and I have a history. When I had just entered Samsung, Frozen was one of the team's terran aces. When he moved to STX, he had already talked about the next time he'd face us. This time, we ended up meeting, and I won. Frozen's face seemed red as well. My face was red because I won, but his because he lost.
Anything else?
I have friends who are practice partners at Samsung, and it seems their life is really harsh. I want to cheer them on. I'm also going to make fun of Jangbi a bit. Even if Jangbi comes to ACE, he must still play well. I hope ACE can end their losing streak quickly.

Thoughts on advancing from the prelims?
This is my third time advancing since I joined ACE. I haven't really participated in games lately, and my skill level is low, and I feel like an inferior player. With this individual league, I need to fix that mood.
ACE has four players advancing already.
Lately, we've been doing badly in Proleague. But this time in the prelims, our players had an explosion of power, so I hope we can use this to adjust our team atmosphere.
You tend to do badly in MST.
I truly have confidence, but I always fall in the MST somewhere. But this will be my last MST wearing the Air Force uniform, so I have to go all out.
You're bandaged up due to being injured.
I fixed up my cast after getting plaster. I was resting for about two weeks as I recovered and watched the other players win. However, with this break, my strategies have undergone a transformation.
Ggaemo
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/OBaNh.jpg)
This is your first time making it into an individual league since entering ACE.
When I was on Hwaseung, I thought that if I could just get past prelims it would be pretty good. Now, though, I consider getting into the league a must. I hope to ascend to greater heights.
Recently, out of the ACE members, your performance is the best.
Not many people took note of me before I entered ACE, but that actually gave me motivation. I gritted my teeth and practiced.
What's the reason for the Air Force flopping completely in SWL?
Our team doesn't have an outstanding Ace player [T/N ironically enough]. We lack a player who can go out and guarantee a lot of kills, so we're weak in SWL. I'm working toward becoming that multi-kill player, but I still haven't gotten the results, which is discouraging. If we can just win one match in SWL, we can rid ourselves of this atmosphere, but we still haven't done that yet.
Goal for the MSL?
I hope to get into the Ro16. I'll achieve this goal before setting another one. I want to be ACE's first Ro16 player.
You've been called the Jaedong of ACE. [T/N holy shit this is the same question from my 1k post]
With this nickname, I know that people are taking notice of me, which is good. But I'd rather Jaedong be called the “Ggaemo of Hwaseung.” So I need to work very hard.

Thoughts on fighting your way into the MST?
Yesterday I watched the drama Dream High, and Song Sam-Dong sang a song. He said that “The applause from below the stage was my meal.” Today, I felt the same way during the games.
You still haven't played in R4.
I asked January to let me rest for a bit in R4. I want to reflect on my past games so I can find my command of strategy from scratch. The end result was my advancement in the prelims.
What's your mindset going into the MSL?
When I made it out of the prelims for the first time after my debut, I was incredibly glad. I want to return to the mindset I had back then. I'll work hard, and this time I'll definitely win the championship. I need to win a gold medal before I retire.
Who do you hope to face?
I want to have a group full of terrans. Recently, my games against terrans have been going smoothly. M18M just advanced too, so if I have the chance, I want to face him. (haha)
Anything else?
Today's results were heartening. Recently, it's been nothing but bad news, but hopefully this win will turn that around.

Thoughts on advancing from the prelims?
Last time, I GG'd out of both individual leagues so early, and it was really regrettable. This time, I'll need to go all out.
A word about today's games?
I played well in two games [T/N unsure], but Anytime was so good, I nearly lost.
Zerg seems to be weak in this prelims.
The maps are pretty bad for zerg. Also, a lot of the good zergs are already seeded into the MSL directly, so that explains it.
How have you changed since entering the OSL Ro4? [T/N Batoo 08-09]
In practice, I feel like I've changed. Last time in the Ro4, I typed out quickly, so I didn't really experience it at all. This time, I want to advance step by step, so I have time to really taste the OSL.
Anything else?
I haven't really talked to my parents very often recently, so I feel apologetic about that. Today, though, I performed well, so I'll go contact them with high spirits. Mom, Dad, I love you!

This is your third time entering the MST.
I'm really eager to enter the MSL proper, so I'm happy I advanced from prelims.[/b]
Why do you have such an ambition toward entering the MSL?
Recently, I've lost a lot in SPL, and in order to amend those losses, I have to do well in the individual leagues. I hope I have a chance to display my true strength.
You've been in a slump in SPL.
I don't know why either. I guess I've just been playing badly.
Anything else?
Fantasy lent me his glasses lens-cleaning cloth, and that helped me advance. So in my interview, I had to mention him for sure (haha).

This is your first time making it to an individual league since entering the Air Force.
I'm incredibly happy. It feels just like my first MST ever.
You're on a losing streak in SPL.
With situations like this, by the time I understand how I'm playing badly, it's tough to break the slump. I've seen players rack up huge losing streaks and wondered how they could lose like that, but now I'm going through it myself. In the end, it comes down to skill. I've finally understood, I've fallen far behind others in skill level.
Soon, new players will enter ACE.
Iris and Peace entered ACE after me as well, and I actually don't feel like we need additional players. But with more players on the team, I can be more relaxed, so I eagerly await their arrival.
Your mindset for the MST?
There's only one path I can take. I'm aiming to participate in the Group Selection, but I don't have a lot of time, so I'll cut sleep and rest to practice.
Anything else?
Yesterday was my birthday, and fans hoped I would win, but I didn't get to play. Even though it's a day belated, I've brought everyone good results. Also, we had players who worked very hard this time but were still eliminated. I hope they don't take it too hard and continue putting in the effort.

Supposedly, January said Samsung's players would play till dawn.
Nope, I slept at 10 PM last night (haha)
What's your goal for the MSL?
At the least, I want to make it to the Ro32. This time, the prelims were tiring, so I don't want to have to play them again.
What kind of group do you want to be in for the MST?
I'm not picky about my matchups, but I do want to get good maps. Only one of the prelims maps was good for protoss, so I felt a lot of pressure.
After moving to Samsung, you've participated in your second prelims. How is it different?
There are monumental differences. For one, the food they provide is much better, so lately I've been feeling very full after eating (haha). Also, Stork and Jangbi have given me a lot of help, and even Brave who sits next to me has assisted me. Having all these outstanding veteran protosses competing has raised my skill level a lot.

You were drafted in the second half of 2010.
I've learned a lot from the combined protoss forces of Entus and Sparkyz. I've especially learned macro from Horang. Movie and Snow have taught me a lot too.
This time, you made it out of the prelims. It seems that you'll start getting opportunities in SPL too.
It seems like the coaches don't have high expectations for me, so chances are they won't let me play. I'll work hard to perform even better, and only then will they give me play time in SPL.
We still haven't seen your PvZ or PvT.
I'm most confident in my PvT and PvP. Our team has a lot of very strong players, so my confidence is a little low. Regarding PvZ, it comes down to the opponent's condition.

Thoughts on making your first MST?
Although I made it, I've been doing horrendously in SPL lately, so my feelings right now are mixed.
Did Paralyze's OSL run give you inspiration?
At that time, I was also doing badly in SPL. I thought, maybe I've fallen far behind Paralyze.
Any thoughts on the reason behind your SPL losing streak?
I'm just not anxious enough, so I'm losing. I think there's an appropriate level of anxiousness that I need to keep in order to win.
Anything else?
I apologize to everyone for the recent SPL losing streak. Doctor.K puts a lot of faith in me, so in order to repay that I have to improve my performance. Thanks also to the fans who've supported me.

Thoughts on making your second MST?
Today, my group was very hard, so advancing was an uphill struggle.
Why was it tough?
The group was full of players who have been doing well in SPL. When I first saw the brackets, I felt good about my chances, but recently everyone is doing so well in Proleague, and that worried me.
Against SKT, you got a 3kill.
That 3kill gave me immense confidence. I focused on practicing TvZ today; after I won my TvZ, I could ride the momentum to play good TvP.
As the school year starts, has your practice been insufficient?
My school has made very special considerations for me, so practicing has been easier.

Thoughts on entering the MST?
I'm glad, since I was the first to advance. I usually don't wake up early, but I somehow managed to do so today. Looks like the early bird gets the worm after all.
Thoughts on the season?
Getting past the prelims is a real struggle. Next season I have to do well, so I don't have to get stuck here.
Anything else?
Even though Movie [T/N unsure] lost, he first talked to me about his troubles. I want to thank him. I hope that in the OSL, we can advance together.

It's your last MSL prelim before going to the military.
To tell the truth, I wasn't very eager today. As a progamer, I just wanted to experience one more MSL prelim, enter the MSL again. If I could do that, my spirit would feel renewed.
Was it depressing being eliminated from MST last time?
The nickname “King of Prelims” really isn't a nice one. Right now, the true “King of Prelims” is Sea. As he's the second-generation King, I'll cheer him on (haha).
How did you prepare?
I didn't practice too much. After going home, I didn't have much time to practice, and Coach Park even asked me if I wanted to return for some practice, but I declined. In the past, I was always very anxious about the prelims, but this time I wanted to relax. Recently, the members of ACE said they wanted to practice vT, so I helped them, and I guess that helped me today. SKT's 1st place in Proleague, so I think they can do it without my help (haha).
It feels like your heart's already with the Air Force.
My arrival in the military is less than a month away, so I can't really practice well. The weird thing is, whenever I practice with ACE, I always play very well (haha). I'll give it my all before entering the military.
You'll also play the MST before going to the military.
I'll figure out the schedule later, but I know I will go all out in the MST. If I have to miss it thanks to the military, then there will just be a “Canata Wild Card” I guess (haha).

It's your first time in the MSL in your career.
I'm extremely happy. Fortunately, I managed to get up by myself this morning, so it looks like I've taken good care of my condition. I'm the type of person who can't fall asleep again if he wakes up, so if I were playing in the afternoon or evening groups, my condition would be worse.
You beat Skyhigh to advance.
My opponent had a lot of troops, so if he cut off my econ, I would have been done for. But I checked his advance, and I ended up winning.
Anything else?
Last time, after we played KT, my family ate dinner together. I received encouragement from all my family members, which was a big reason I was able to advance today. A hearty thanks!

I've heard that you've been sent to the b-team.
In order to help out my future teammates who are participating in Courage, I've moved to the b-team practice house for now. Coach Park said it's not because I'm playing badly, and it's only to help them out. I don't feel pressured thanks to that.
Even though you've already been in the OSL Ro16, entering the MSL is a first for you.
Actually, getting into the OSL proper made me thirst even more for an MSL run. I hope I do well in the MSL and that I can win in SPL. My teammate Sun has been showing off his potential, so I can't let myself look weak. I hope our team can someday do a 4-protoss victory.
What special preparation did you do before today's games?
Before playing, I returned to the practice house. After returning from Gwangju, Canata asked me to bring his uniform, but I forgot. I didn't realize until after getting on the car, so I had to turn around and go back immediately. I've never gone so fast in car before, it's really tiring.
