This is going to be very interesting to hear, to say the least. Kinda wished they just got TorcH to stay in Korea and do commentary instead.

Wonder why they need 4 casters to replace 2.

But I am quite sure Idra will be a decent Co-Caster. He can behave very professionaly when he isnt trolling the community

I'm sure Grack's casting will not be biased in anyway...
I don't think he rages outside the game, haven't seen him spaz out yet outside the game.

His life is Starcraft 2, and it's in his best interest to help promote it as much as possible.

So if he does cast, it's going to be super professional I bet. He won't say anything bad about the players if he is not allowed (artosis and tasteless already cannot do so..)

I actually think Gregs commentating will be less Z biased than Artosis. I am really looking forward to him commentating. I immagine he could be a great co-caster... the more calm and reflected type, which fits well together with for example day[9] who is alot more enthusiastic.

I predict he will do really well, partly depending on who he's paired with, of course. I certainly expect fewer irrelevant comments about map critters. That shit gets old really quickly.

So exciting. Idra may be one of the most knowledgeable players in terms of sc2 bo's and balancein the world- having him commentate will probably be really incredible, as well as informative.

After Torch casted for artosis' games in season 1 I've been hoping for this.

*Idra is casting the GSL*
*Boxer walks up to booth*
Boxer: Hi Grack!
Idra: Hi
Idra: Its Greg
Boxer: Oh sorry

EDIT: Okay honestly, I'm sure IdrA will be very professional during his casts. Its obviously in his best interest to not be BM during a professional cast where he is probably paid.

Jørgen Johannessen waiting

Funny, my first name as his surname.

Also, please note that Johannessen in danish translates to Johnson since John is english for Johannes. And I cant wait for someone trying to pronounce Jørgen, danish letters ftw

IdrA must still be pissed he wasn't invited to Blizzcon. I know I'd be if I were him.

Hopefully that anger/resentment doesn't carry over into his casting, or maybe it should, who knows.

Regardless, I'm super looking forward to seeing him cast.

edit - How does TLO get an invite but not IdrA? Seriously, wtf?

I'm getting this sneaking impression that IdrA's past actions/attitudes may have contributed to Blizzard not inviting him.

Haha, IdrA commentating would be neat to watch. If you've listened to his interviews, he's pretty succinct with his game analysis — quick short cause-effect, etc. If paired with the right co-caster and allow IdrA to speak more freely, it could be awesome.

IdrA is playing on Ro64 Day 4a, 3rd game, against "ChickenCombo". So it's not surprising they'd have more than two substitutes, probably a 4th just to be safe. Good luck to the guest commentators. Looking forward to the casts.

PS: The "grack" poke is pretty funny the first few days and I cracked up like everyone else. I'm sure IdrA got a kick out it too. Sadly, its repetition is starting to make this place sound like an elementary schoolyard full of impotent bullies.

I wouldn't want to translate a guys name dude, his name is Jørgen Johannessen in Norway as well, "ø" is not a strictly danish letter.

Idra on TvT: Guys we have a garbage match coming up next, if the stream crashes, be thankful.

Lol, but I'm actually looking forward to Idra cast, I think his style will be more of the day9 analytical style.
They probably will have him casting zerg match ups mostly..dont know much about the other guys.

IdrA will obviously bring very strong analysis to the commentating table. How entertaining he'll be is a bit more up in the air, but the dry humour he brings to things like State of the Game gives me some confidence that his commentary can be all-around good whether he's bashing on people or not. Will be interesting to see!

Sounds great. And I think Jason Lee did a good job in the BW GSL. He didn't have the most knowledge, but he brought a lot of emotions into the commentating, just like the korean casters do

Maybe he'll make the same comment he made about PvP in BW: that they sit there hurling imbalanced shit at each other.

Sure Idra has not raged or been bm to anyone recently but if something like that(any player not specifically idra) were to happen it could put a black mark on blizzcon, as well take focus away from the rest of the event.

(Not trying to belittle idra in anyway, i am just trying to look at this from blizzard points of view)

Terran and Protoss players better apologize for playing that race, and all other Zerg players should apologize for playing his race.

Doesn't IdrA need to practice for his match though?

No doubt Idra's analysis will be top notch, but his speaking voice and tone is quite similar to mine, which is to say dull and monotonous.

Sounds good. I am not an Idra fan at all, but he will have better insights into the game then 99.9% of commentators out there and he usually behaves pretty well in these high-profile situations.

I was going to skip GSL during BlizzCon for the same reason as Tastosis, I'll be there. However, hearing this, I sure hope my hotel's connection is good enough to watch it. I'd stay up until 5 AM on a convention day to see IdrA cast GSL.

I'm getting this sneaking impression that IdrA's past actions/attitudes may have contributed to Blizzard not inviting him.

I do think that idra's attitude has a little bit to do with it, but I think it's mostly because he rarely plays on US at all anymore. He only plays in Korea these days, and a lot of his games even over there are customs. Seeing as Blizzcon invites are based on the ladder, it doesn't work out well for him.

TLO isn't high on any ladder at the moment, but that's because he's playing on a different ladder so his EU rank has dropped and he isn't caught up on KR yet. He was high on the EU ladder at one point, though, and that's probably blizzard's justification for inviting him. Of course, I'm sure the fact that the entire community adores him (including everyone at blizzard since they invite him to participate in every showmatch they host) played a part as well.

Idra probably knows that, as he has a much more prominent position in the starcraft 2 community than he had in brood war, and you can tell he's trying to behave himself more. i'm sure he sees the gsl casting as a way of really improving his reputation so he can be known as not only a great player, but also a role model like TLO. Because of that, I get the feeling Idra's casting will be really top-notch. He knows, whether he likes it or not, that in order to be really successful he has to be popular with the community.

I think he is pretty popular, not as popular as TLO, but definitely in the top 5 most popular foreigners (for the right or wrong reasons i don't know) along with guys like Huk and WhiteRa.

However, based on skill alone, he should be invited, since he is the best foreigner atm.

Oh man, I'm stoked for Jason Lee coming back, he was shit first time he commentated SC1, but he went away and did homework and came back was much better.

Tartosis is nice, but they repeat a lot and get me bored, so i am happy about a change.
On top of it, this cast seems legendary!

They said the casters will rotate, so probably different pairs everytime. Someone like Idra probably doesn't have the time to cast for hours stright, since he needs to practise for the GSL. The others probably got stuff to do too

XeqtR was always a very smart guy when playing ,and im sure he wouldn't get anywhere near this if it wasn't for the fact he knew what he was doing.

Oh and also, hes so obsessed about his fucking orange juice. Always with the orange juice when I met him at Lans in Norway.

It's just a big shame he can't make it to blizzcon. Their prize pool dwarfs the mlg's (which was tiny. Some beta tournaments had a larger prize for first). And idra wouldve been guaranteed a spot in the finals.

Has anyone in this thread that is worrying about Idra BM'ing - as a CASTER - even heard him lately in interviews and on things like State of the Game? He's really well mannered, whether he always has been and chose not to be, or whether he's shaped up lately. Either way, he's a great speaker and still has his opinions but is totally reasonable and mannered, and HELLA smart enough to really discuss things and why he believes them instead of just shit-talking. Also smart enough not to bring stupid shit like balance into play during games when he's CASTING. Even Tastosis talked about balance between games. Come on. This hate train is so old.

He's going to be a great caster. Pretty excited.

I'm very exited about Idra commentating, not because of BM (which imho the sc/sc2 community seems to be obsessed with way too much anyway ), but beause it will give us potential insight as to how one of the greatest Sc2 zergs at the moment thinks and how he sees the game.

Xeqtr had some unique views on CS at times that I completely agreed with.

A lot of people play games like that and they just have good aim and a very basic understanding of strategy that they regurgitate, but with Xeqtr you could tell he was one of those really smart players that understood the game on many different levels.

And I am sure he had that deeper understanding of rts as well.

Actually this is a good point.

I haven't seen much Idra rage since Silver/Drewbie and that is starting to be awhile back. In all his more recent appearances he has been relatively insightful and definitely well mannered.

Will be nice to have him commentating Zerg games and getting his take on the play.

The name Grack has to stick though because the Emperor said so.

Everyone's saying Idra will bash the players
I disagree, I don't really think Idra will be negative at all.
If he wants to be a good caster, which I'm sure he does in this case, he'll probably be pretty respectful.

Hopefully he brings a bit more personality to the table. Strategic analysis is nice, but I like the way that Artosis and Tasteless make it fun and sometimes hilarious.

WHOA... XeqtR?! He was an awesome tactician and a great overall player back in CS. After quitting CS, he moved on to DotA and played for Mouz, but I dunno how well the team did. I am curious to know how much knowledge he has in the SC series. I am sure he knows a good amount considering how he goes to Korea quite often for CS tournaments.

IdrA commentating will definitely be interesting and I can already see the bashing he will do. Kinda like the Simon Cowell of American Idol lol.

WHOA...

Kinda like the Simon Cowell of American Idol lol.

xeqtr was playing SC2 Beta quiet extensively, not sure if he still does, i'd say he was probably 1700-1800 Z by today's ranking standards.

I expect to hear Idra give very good, solid straight to the point commentary. All you zerg players, this is a priceless learning experience to hear from one of the best zerg's around.

Idra: So spawning in the top right on xelnaga caverns we have the zerg player and in the bottom left position we have the imbalanced terran player. Wonder what he will open with? Reapers?... no they got nerfed to hell, ohh ok hellions, yes definitely hellions. Oh and the zerg has zergling speed already so I guess those hellions wont do any damage. Looks like we have a baneling nest coming up along with a lair, guess that Terran is doomed now!

WOW now that's an interesting news.

@ Idra if you read this: imho this is your chance to show to your simple-minded fans that you are not a whiny drama king; and that you actually got maturity as well as the ability to think objectively.

what does blizzard have to do with GSL, they support GOM but the GOM cast is controlled by GOM... doesn't mean GOM won't tell him to stop criticizing blizzard though, I doubt it's going to come to that

Oh god, seriously?? Hahahahahahahaha

Anyway, I'm disturbed by this trend of calling IdrA a "badass" with a straight face these days. I'd love it if it were a community-wide tongue-in-cheek thing, but I'm not sure it is. You guys are aware he is a temperamental kid who flips out over a video game, right?

Alot of the bashing Idra does is done jokingly. I can't believe so many people on TL still thinks he is dead serious all the time. I bet his commentary will be very professional and well done. God that came off fanboyish. Ret>Idra There, much better.

I wonder how good Grack will be as a commentator; since he has deep understanding of the game I think he will be good, although I was hoping for superdanielman

I bet they will do a great job. I can't imagine idra commentating, but with his knowledge of the game I'm pretty sure he will do well. But I just can't imagine idra not being very biased, but hell, barely any commentators aren't biased nowadays and sometimes it just makes it more interesting

Good to see Idra commentating. People always talk about him raging etc, but when he answers a question in an interview you begin to realise how smart the guy is. He'll be very insightful i'm sure.

wooow!! intresting... will be cool to see and hear IdrA cast!
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

Is it me or is it extremely unprofessional for Artosis and Tasteless to ditch the GSL to participate in a novelty event.

Not sure if it worked like that. Blizzcon prolly invited them over and said that it would help boost the sc2 a LOT if they just could come for a few days.. Besides, GSL is sponsored by blizzard, so not much that gom can do to stop them

One thing that interests/bothers me is that commentators still playing in the tournament (idrA, artosis last season) get a 100% observer view of how their future opponents are playing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the players don't get to look at replays of the other players. idrA gets an indepth look at the exact timings and tendencies of his opponents that you don't see in a VoD.

I'm pretty sure all players can watch GSL games on TV, or on the main screen in the event's auditorium.

Nice to have a skilled player in the casting team, but are any of them actually good at commentating? You can be a great player, but a shitty commentator if you're not experienced at it.

I'm afraid in the end IdrA's going to be very dry and professional, with that monotone voice of his.
I hope not, but that's what my gut tells me.

So one of the the commentators for GSL is the nearest possible white guy regardless of personality or experience or even if they are completely devoid of personality. I don't even mind IdrA these days but cmon. Good to know Blizzard is really ontop of this whole international eSports thing.

One thing I don't quite like about IdrA is how dismissive he is of potential strategies. All I can see him doing in the GSL is pointing out mistakes people make (not necessarily rudely or anything, but you know.). We'll have to see how this goes.

I am looking forward to seeing Idra in action though. I would like to hear his opinions on the balance of the game after this latest patch. Also, I expect he'll be quite professional. I wouldn't mind a little bit of rage though. :D

It would be fitting if Assem casted in complete silence.
After all, i've been following him before he was famous and all i know of him is he rocks the fat chick.

Can't wait to hear Assem. He was a fine terran back in SC1 and i'm excited to see him back at the wheel. It's going to be interesting to see how much knowledge he has garnered in Starcraft 2!

Btw. Xeqtr is a pretty interesting person to have as a commentator. His carrier spans several games and he is a pretty experienced caster of cs 1.6.

Overall a very exciting crew they have gathered!

I don't care if Artosis or Tasteless ever comes back to Korea. I'm too excited to see IdrA cast. It will be way too epic for me to handle. Gomtv knows how to give their viewers a good show.

After reading all 18 pages of these comments, theres a summary :

· Idra getting bashed over the other commentators for his past mistakes.

· Every commentator is better than Idra, even counter strike player, but i will watch it any ways, cause i hate him and i want to see how he will do.

· Let's bash Idra, cause it seems fun, and seems every one else is doing it too.

Well to be perfectly honest, don't even bull*hit yourself. Like you never raged over a lost game, like you never slapped your head or monitor cause you lost. Welcome to the club. We all do that. Called emotions.

In my opinion, Idra is arrogant. That might get in the way of commentating, and he doesn't seem much of thinking what he's saying. But i'm quite sure he will come prepared - he will pick his words, and try to do it professionally, cause let's face it - if he will pull it off, he will wipe the smiles of all his hatters, and increase his fan club x2.

So, Idra casting?
That is many tank? yes?

im all for Idra casting. It would be good to hear about his game insights. Maybe we will learn what he thinks about each strategy.

On the side note (not completely SC2 related).

Looks like Gretech signed exactly the same deal with Blizzard that Kespa and even TL community found ridiculous.
Blizzard: Hey i need players for Blizzcon. Send some over from GSL. Remember we had a deal...
Gretech: Ehmmmm sure.
Blizzard: By the way throw us some English commentators while you are at it. We know you dont really need them ...
Gretech: Eeee you know you asked us to make GSL accessible for western viewers....
Blizzard: Screw them. We had a deal that all people who participate in GSL (players casters) are enforced to take part in any of our event if we wish so... Get some random dudes to commentate.
Gretech: Ok Ok.

Gretech runs around to get some random commentators. Finds Idra.

SC2 western community goes: FUCK YEAH

I must say it's nice to hear to a "professional" casting and commentating. Now SC2 seems like a real sport. Tastless and Artosis act like 2 friends having fun infront of a camera instead of doing their job.

Wow Idra is actually quite a good caster, you can here his exact thoughts and how he knows the opponent from ingame, and the zerg counter abilities and what he expects terran to go after what he's scouted.

Idra, why are you so sexy

I would like Idra as a common caster, but Jørgen should be swapped with Artosis, or even Tasteless, he's way too aggressive in his casting leaving way too little to Idra.

I mean, Idra is the caster, Jørgen has the map/view spot yet he talks about what happends constantly

I like both of the new Casters,
Idra is a bit fast, but perfectly understandable.

Idra's good at the casting, this other person in the series (first one) is TERRIBLE. Makes me cry.

ARTOSIS. TASTELESS. I MISS YOU. (much better, actually know what they're talking about unlike this other person.. not Idra)

Yeah the other caster is like "OH HE IS BUILDING A BARRACKS, WHAT IS HIS PLAN? Oh he's planning on building marines and marauders".

Noooo I was hoping for more IdrA. Him and Lee actually make a great combo, Lee with a good sense of professionalism and flow, IdrA with very insightful comments on the current and possible future states of the game.

Might be a little thin on knowledge with a CS player casting but can only wait to find out.

Jason Lee is talking and talking, but nothing is being said..

Honestly IdrA solo casting would be much, much better. I don't need a narrator taking thirty seconds to tell me Tester's 18, or that the scouting scv's death is the price to pay for the information it scouts.

What are you talking about, Jørgen hasnt casted a single game?

Also, jason has camera control, and is constantly on the wrong part of the game. When someone was being proxy raxed, he was focused on the scouting probe, instead of the SCV scouting that spotted it. T_T.

At least I get to watch... Idra solo casting would have been much better.

Is anyone else finding it extremely hilarious that Jason Lee is talking about a need for a villain, someone everyone loves to hate, someone who's not afraid to talk smack... TO IDRA. IdrA must be freaking beaming inside.

Idra solo casting would be great, or him sitting in for Artosis or Tasteless sometime while the other one is there. That would be awesome.

Yeah well too bad the camera control is actually from the korean obs so your comments are kind of pointless.

Jason Lee is missing so much information :/ He is also just casting whatever is in front of him. I prefer tastosis because of the fact that they will discuss what might be going on in the future of the game and keep up with the action better.

XeqtR is pretty good. I was aware he played a fair bit of SC1 so it's no surprise really.

Also, c'mon, Jason Lee isn't that bad. He would be an excellent caster for newer players, we're just a bit elitist :p

It feels like Jason was given a crash course in SC2, and is valiantly attempting to ally it, but simply doesn't have enough experience with SC2 to cast it well. As a result, it feels kind of grating to listen to. Then again I've been spoiled by tastotis and day9 commentary.

And yes, I was laughing my head off at the villian to idra XD

LOL. He doesn't know about salvaging bunkers XD XD XD XD XD He said it got destroyed when it got salvaged. Then insisted it got destroyed.

Idra is to SC2 commentary as James Hunt was to F1 commentary.

He might not have a broad vocal range, but his dry persona works. He needs a hyperactive foil to lighten it up and do the play by play. I think him and Artosis or (god forbid) a Husky would work damn well.

Actually an Idra/Husky pairing would remind me of Martin Brundle / James Allen. The dry experience of Brundle with the over-the-top enthusiasm and less than keen intellect of Allen. For some reason that sort of contrast works so well.

Idra solo casting would probably be a disaster given his lack of experience. He was superb today, because he had a professional next to him who knew exactly how to play the game. Jason would constantly ask Idra's opinion on certain situations and everytime Idra wanted to butt in, he would immideatly shut and let Idra talk. Then when Idra was done talking, he'd just fill the gap with some basic play-by-play and keep the commentating going. It's 10x easier for a guy like Idra to cast in that setup, because all he has to do is answer questions and just say whenever he sees something interesting. C

Seriously, what makes you think IdrA would even consider to "bm" at any LAN tournament or GSL? Have you seen him do that at a LAN tournament or GSL (SC2..)? NO. . .

I doubt that's the reason why he wasn't invited, really.

I thought Jason lee did a great job. He is obviously experienced and has a great commentary voice as well. I loved his interviews too, and please fire all these translators and hire someone who can competently translate... He fills the necesarry time slots that Idra cannnot and maintains the excitement. Idra comes in for the important points and answers high level (YEAH) questions I think it was a good substitute till tastosis return.

Good job imo.

Hugely impressed with Lee + IdrA. It's probably the closest we've come to a "normal" casting duo with a play-by-play guy and a color commentator and they both filled their roles extremely well. For not knowing the game, Lee covered it very well and still asked IdrA great questions.

I don't think XeqtR was that bad and his solo casts won't be as bad as people think. He casted CS for a while and he didn't have the same issues with volume or "disappearing" then, so I don't expect those to be an issue in the future. Even though CS and SC are completely different, he was one of the top 3 smartest players in the entire world and when combined with dedication, I have to imagine he'll be pretty damn knowledgeable about SC2 as well.

Even though CS and SC are completely different, he was one of the top 3 smartest players in the entire world and when combined with dedication, I have to imagine he'll be pretty damn knowledgeable about SC2 as well.

I agree with you on IdrA and Jason, they had their cooperation nailed down. I think IdrA deserves some credit for also not correcting Jason Lee when he was getting abit ahead of himself, he just kept the ball rolling - Props for both Jason and IdrA there.

I didn't think XeqtR did that well though. When he was on screen, he didn't look at his co-host and he didn't look into the camera, his eyes kept wandering off from side to side, while he was making weird gestures with his hands that were distracting. Also, and more importantly, he didn't really grab those openings that Jason openly offered him during the game to add some insight.

Neither (IdrA and XeqtR) are doing this for a living though, so I was still quite satisfied with the level of commentary though

Lee+IdrA was awesome, reminded me a lot of professional sports commentators. You got the "Expert" and the "Caster", the caster is there to increase excitement and hype everything (Lee) while the "Expert" appeals to the more veteran audience while trying to explain the advance stuff to newbs.

Imho, they seemed more professional than tastosis. Although I like tastosis more for the comic relief.

Lee+Idra was great.

At first I kinda expected Lee to be a bit of a loud obnoxious noob, but he didn't overstep his knowledge boundaries and asked enough questions and complemented Idra's strategic commentary quite well.

Idra is actually pretty well-spoken. He just doesn't have the added charisma and experience that makes Artosis so awesome.

GJ, hope to see more Idra commentary in the future

I loved hearing IdrA talk about the timings. A lot of players (myself included) don't really think about the game in such precise terms, so it was really enlightening to hear stuff like that. I don't get the sense that either member of the casting archon plays enough to know those timings that well.

I said this on the gom forums, but I think a casting team of IdrA/Tasteless/Artosis would be ideal. Tasteless likes to commentate the action/host, IdrA is an unequaled expert, and Artosis is somewhere in the middle.

The koreans get 3 commentators, so should we!

Loved IdrA's casting! They should really ask him to do some more games in the future together with Tasteless/Artosis.

I was really impressed with IdrA's casting. Just seeing how knowledgable and thoughtful about the game he is made me like him more as a player.

Yeah, that's something XeqtR has always done. I'm curious how he'll do, I just don't think it'll be as bad as most people expect.

How is Idra going to cast and play at the same time?!? lol seems a bit...unorthodox to have a player in the tournament casting that tournament.

I totally agree - all in all, it was very enjoyable and something 'different' than what we have been used to so far.

Obviosly, he won't be casting and playing in the tournament at the same time.

Both Artosis and Tasteless signed up for both GSL 1 and 2, Artosis made it to the round of 64 in GSL1. They bring in another caster if they have a game to play.

oh I didn't realize artosis even made it to the round of 64. Alright, just seems unorthodox to me haha. Thats like a professional football player commentating then being like, "Oh it's offense again, brb." lol That's how it feels to me though.

One could even say that this could have been the reason Artosis didn't perform too well in GSL.
Who knows how well he could have done if he had all his time to invest in practicing rather than casting..
He's a damn clever player and strategist, and mostly just lacks that perfect execution.
Not many zergs made it far in GSL1 anyhow, so I guess you can't hold him to too high of a standard.

It was funny watching Idra and Jason cast together. Jason was very good with the casting aspect and the flow but knew little about the game while Idra was completely opposite.

Idra surprised me when he assessed the reasoning for Bless to go Hellions was due to Templar play resulting in heavy zealot armies. Just goes to show that with extensive understanding of the game you can figure that stuff out on the fly without really playing either race.

Idra + Jason casting was absolutely amazing. Jason was asking all the right questions, and getting excited when expected.

Jason's getting a lot of stuff wrong, and the other caster is totally just like.. yeah sorry but you're wrong. It's pretty awkward, he should be a little more subtle..

YES STEPPES IS A WORD

Also why does the other guy not look at Jason ever? Is he checking his texts or something?

EDIT:// Didn't IdrA say it's pronounced "id-druh"? The voice girl and Jason are both saying eye-druh..

I commend these two for not at least cracking a smile when saying "ChickenCombo."

jason lee is excellent. a professional sports commentator. it makes e-sports watching so much less nerdy and so much more professional. idra on the other hand has a terrible voice and doesn't sound like a commentator at all. he should stick to playing the game. idra's a horrible commentator.

Idra knows he isn't a social butterfly. That's why he said he doesn't like casting. He is a pure competitor. Doesn't even like other games. He is just doing this to compete and win.

I like him as a caster because he gives some good insight... but I really wish we could see him show a little more personality.

This is so bad. Go look at the first game that Idra played versus Chickencombo. There is a *big strategical move that chickencombo makes. The commentators see it. They had the screen on it, clicked on it, everything. They fail to comment on it until it is actually done. WTF.

I much prefer the casting archon, but I guess things haven't been going too badly. I would put Jason Lee and IdrA doing quite well, Jason and Jorgen at not bad, and Jason and Assem as less than entertaining.

IdrA offers great insight on timings, builds, and just basically what should work and what won't. Jorgen seems to be a very aggressive player, because I've caught him in several situations saying over and over "he has to attack right now" when maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea, but overall I think he knows a lot about the game as well. Assem and Jason honestly don't add a ridiculous amount of insight to the game though, and they tend to just say what's happening with very little analysis. Although I prefer that to just making shit up as filler though.

I think a lot of that has to do with them not actually controlling the camera though, which means they are pretty much part of the audience with no way to check on things that they are saying. This isn't to say that I haven't enjoyed the past few games, because I definitely have. These are just my opinions on where there are some flaws.

I can't wait to have my Tastosis back though.

I like Jason just for his professionalism. It is a nice change from the Tastosis never ending bromance. He is admittedly not very familiar with StarCraft 2 but seems to care enough to put in the effort to get things right and be professional, unlike Tastosis attempting to cast War3/CS and just not giving a fuck and talking about god knows what. Jason is a very good host, very good at asking the analytical person the right questions, and good at calling the action packed parts. Much respect to Jason.

Grack did great, I'd like him even more if he threw in some of his epic quotes. ^^

Assem is an Artosis Jr. "ROFLstomped" "wiggly and jiggly" and similar phrases are something that I personally don't like and don't feel like they belong when broadcasting a professional sports tournament. Even if it is ESPORTS.

Jorgen had good things to say, but speaks a bit too softly and isn't the best English speaker.

I have to agree with this post. When I heard the ROFLstomped yesterday I didn't know what to think. I don't think even Artosis would say that one and if he said it he would be laughing about it with Tasteless. Assem said it pretty much entirely seriously which makes me think it's actually a part of his vocabulary.

Other than that though I thought the casting was acceptable. Unfortunately it can be a bit annoying when the casters aren't very familiar with the game but as you mentionned at least they are trying their best. IdrA was a great fit I think because he would actually give correct information while Jason Lee took care of talking non-stop to fill the void.

The professionalism is very welcomed by me and Jason Lee is a very good speaker with good flow. Artosis and Tasteless sometimes they have no flow when speaking or speaking over another. They tend to get off on a tangent and give too much of their opinion and a lot of times lose a lot of face.

Jason Lee keeps pronouncing "Shakuras" as "Shakira's".

I must say that Assem and Jason Lee are doing a great job for replacements, IdrA and
XeqtR also did a good job.

what about "Centuries" instead of "sentry's"

i realy liked it when idra was casting he gave some realy great insight. The other casters are pretty bad and make some realy weird calls.

edit: dont know about Jorgen though havnt realy seen him cast

even though I'm really glad Tastosis will be back on monday, I must say that the guest casters did a fairly good job considering the situation.

So, respect to Jason, Assem, and XeqtR ... and Grack!

Woah Woah Woah Hold on there. They're all horrible. Only IdrA knows anything about the game I would much prefer him solo than any mixture of the other 3. Thank god tastosis or w/e is back for the next batch of RO32. Thank GOD

tasteless and artosis mock parts of the GSL such as calling it street fighter voice.. jason lee needs to learn starcraft 2 before casting any more games, but his interviews are good with his follow up questions.. Assem is very smart and does not try to sugar coat things such as "HE JUST BROUGHT HIMSELF INTO THE GAME WITH THAT ATTACK!" he just needs to be more interesting.

Tasteless and Artosis say a LOT of things such as HE MIGHT VERY WELL WIN THE GAME RIGHT HERE or predict future happenings even though a majority of the time they get their predictions wrong

I did not see idra or jorgen cast

One could even say that this could have been the reason Artosis didn't perform too well in GSL.
Who knows how well he could have done if he had all his time to invest in practicing rather than casting..
He's a damn clever player and strategist, and mostly just lacks that perfect execution.
Not many zergs made it far in GSL1 anyhow, so I guess you can't hold him to too high of a standard.

I'll have to agree there, if Artosis had more practice time i'm sure he would have gotten further!

I took the "wiggly and jiggly" as an imitating artosis to make fun of him type of thing.

Gonna be great to see Greg trash on all the players lol :>

You know, what he does is not trashing, he just says what he thinks without making it nice. If all people did that as well as being interested in the truth then you would see them talk pretty much the same.

I think he's a good guy with respect for the game and industry around it and he simply can't stand seeing people blather on about things they know nothing about or don't want to know the truth about.

I find it bizarre that so many people misunderstand it and all they manage to see is "rage" "BM" and so on.

People try to act nice even when it's not what they're thinking and not what they really care about. He says what's on his mind, I find it much better. Honesty beats fake-nice.

I also have to say, that Lee guy was SOOOO awful. All that fake enthusiasm just hurt my ears because when he hits those high notes, they are REALLY annoyingly high. It's like "OMG OMG, it's happening, really happening... Yes, he built a supply depot!"

Jason Lee IMO is a fantastic commentator, the only negative strike against him is his prolific use of "uhhh".

Tasteless just used that word right now, and didn't laugh about it.

Jason Lee certainly had the voice and the gravitas, he just didn't have any insight into the game. His jokes were also extremely lame. I would require him to get into Diamond as random before allowing him to commentate again.

jason lee is an absolutely atrocious commentator. He knows barely anything about the game. That's not exactly ideal for someone who's meant to be talking about a game with pro level players. It's like me commentating on one of the football games in the premier league:

"And here's someone running up the grass. He's wearing a red shirt with a number on the back...can't quite make that out but it's under 10. The grass is quite short and has some white lines on it. Not one hundred percent sure what those...mean. I think the red team is aiming to get the ball into one of the nets and vice versa for the other team. Guess we'll soon find out which net each team...favours."

A tournament as big as the GSL and they let crap casters in? Inexcusable.

I would like to see Idra + XeqtR commentating, Idra's knowledge is amazing and XeqtR also seems to know much about this game, they just need better flow.
Artosis and Tasteless are not that far from Jason Lee knowledge imo.
