wtf? kobe is a single minded scorer at heart and when things aren't running silky smooth, like they weren't for a few stretches of games in march, he has a tendency to lose faith and patience in the offense and do it himself. 30yr old players don't change the fundamental way they approach the game. how can you deny that?

i watched about half the lakers schedule in march and even on a good day kobe simply doesn't have that team awareness that would make the lakers that much better. he seems to make up his mind whos going to score (me/not me) as soon as the possession starts, he doesn't use himself as a decoy nearly enough for example. so often after kobe gets doubled the team gets into an awesome offensive position with ariza/gasol/odom/whoever scoring and then kobe comes down the next possession and goes 1on1 at the top of the key with maybe a pass to fisher who's also liable to randomly jack it like he has some kind of chucking spasms and can't help it.

the lakers win by being straight up better but they don't CONTROL games in way that for example celtics last year and cavs do this yr, they have set lineup models they use for basically the whole game and strangle the opposition by doing one style very well. lakers let the players on the floor dictate the offense if you get what i mean. anyway with bynum back lakers should be fine, i haven't seen a bad game from kobe with bynum on the floor. also i have no idea why they don't put kobe on the outer block more often cos the lakers are insanely deadly from that position, you MUST double fast and odom/gasol are too long and good passers to cover all options

kobe is a great player but if he altered his playstyle slightly the lakers would be that much more effective, they should win it all easily because they have the most talent by far and if they don't it'll be kobe's fault

uh. what? kobe is a shooting guard for a reason, not a point guard. and he dishes it out when he sees teammates available. what games have you been watching? stick with the times. it's not 04/05

word. let's not talk about kobe from five years ago. kobe is a willing passer and a team leader now.

6. Will LeBron go Dirk on us after winning the MVP?
this is just lol

lebron is a proven postseason performer, unlike dirk. only haters would ask this question at all

LOL go watch the Cavs Spurs final

This is a bit unfair. LeBron basically got the Cavs to that finals series on his own (his performance vs the Pistons was amazing) and ran out of puff.

2006-2007 cavaliers roster.
6 Shannon Brown G 6-4 205 November 29, 1985 R Michigan State University
1 Daniel Gibson G 6-2 190 February 27, 1986 R University of Texas at Austin
90 Drew Gooden F 6-10 230 September 24, 1981 4 University of Kansas
32 Larry Hughes G 6-5 184 January 23, 1979 8 Saint Louis University
11 Zydrunas Ilgauskas C 7-3 238 June 5, 1975 8
23 LeBron James F 6-8 240 December 30, 1984 3
19 Damon Jones G 6-3 185 August 25, 1976 8 University of Houston
27 Dwayne Jones F-C 6-11 250 June 9, 1983 1 Saint Joseph's University
24 Donyell Marshall F 6-9 218 May 18, 1973 12 University of Connecticut
14 Ira Newble F 6-7 220 January 20, 1975 6 Miami University
3 Sasha Pavlovic G-F 6-8 220 November 15, 1983 3
31 Scot Pollard C 6-11 265 February 12, 1975 9 University of Kansas
20 Eric Snow G 6-3 190 April 24, 1973 11 Michigan State University
17 Anderson Varejao F 6-10 230 September 28, 1982 2
4 David Wesley G 6-0 190 November 14, 1970 13 Baylor University

So Gibson, Ilgauskas, Pavlovic, and Varejao didn't contribute at all in 2007 but now they're better players than their Lakers counterparts?

And Gasol is obviously a better option than Kobe so the lakers score more if they give the ball to Gasol a lot at the expense of Kobe.
Gasol's FG% 56.7
Kobe's FG% 46.7
If you consider true shooting%, thereby accounting for 3 pointers and free throws
Gasol TS% 61.7
Kobe TS% 56.1
Andrew Bynum TS% 59.8

However, teams will make it hard for Gasol to get a quality shot off, therefore Kobe initiates the offense a lot.

Edit: and last two years Kwame Brown had a lower TS% than Kobe, so it was in the lakers' interest for Kobe to take more shots.

@igotmyown: no matter the shooting percentage I don't think Kwame Brown should be taking more shots than anyone. He's just...something else lol.

Andre Igouldala is an animal, but him and Andre Miller can't beat the Magic alone. If Thaddeus Young is back to his crazy playing ways maybe they have a shot. Otherwise I don't see it happening even though I hope it does because I can't stand Orlando Magic fans.

I guess he gets rebounds, but his defense seems bad and his offensive game is worse than Ben Wallace's.

If the celtics can't beat a streaky team at home, Orlando's going to whup them in 4-5. Assuming they can get past the bulls.

:/

Chicago is not streaky. Ever since the trade when they got Salmons and Miller they became the team to watch out for. Boston is still the favorite against them (just look at the Box Score) as really - it was Derrick Rose taking 12 FTs and his spectacular night + Pierce and Allen choking that did them in.

On the other hand, this game shows why everyone has been praising Rondo since last year. Orlando beating the Celtics in 4 or 5 games is a very long shot to happen. Very. Most people don't even have Orlando favored against Boston without KG.
