despite the fact that it does indeed look like a Templar, I still think it could very easily be Diablo. Not many people seem to be even considering it, but I can definitely see it.

I don't think it looks like the WOTLK guy all that much. Just because the theme is cold and the eyes are intense looking, doesn't mean it has to be that. Look at the steam from the eyes of the splash. I think it's Diablo's face that is slowly melting away his icy tomb.
Maybe the surrounding symbols represent that despite having many successful and well-known games lately, the WWI will be focusing on the re-awakening of Diablo.
Other than the fact that a Diablo rune is one of the symbols, I'd say that's a killer theory? Maybe that run represents Diablo 2?
