Featuring teams from Scandinavia alongside featured invites throughout Europe, Copenhagen will play host to the Copenhagen Games running this weekend from April 2nd to the 5th. With four days of non-stop Counter-Strike action, teams will be playing for their share of the €26,000 (~$28,000) prize pool. The BYOC nature of the LAN will allow non-invited teams the opportunity to play in the initial day's qualifier to earn a seed for the main event and a chance to battle the invited teams.

The Group stage this year will use the GSL group format.
Each group will consist of one high, one mid, one low and one non-seeded team.
Only teams that have signed up and paid can receive a seeding.

For the first two GSL group rounds, the two best teams in a group will advance to the next round while the rest will enter the B tournament bracket. In the final group stage, the sixteen qualifying teams will be joined by the sixteen invite teams for a final group round. The top two teams of each group will qualify for the final playoff bracket.

In short, the total tournament format will be as follows:

GSL #1 – double elimination – BO1 (Open signup -64 teams)
GSL #2 – double elimination – BO1 (Winners and runner ups from GSL #1) (32 teams)
GSL #3 / A tournament Group Stage – double elimination – BO3 (Winners and runner ups from GSL #2 and the invited teams)(32 teams)
Playoffs – double elimination – BO3 – Veto (16 teams)

Invitations:

16 teams will be invited to the A tournament. These 16 teams won’t play qualifying rounds and will enter the tournament in the third GSL group stage. The 16 invited teams will face off against the 16 qualified teams from the previous rounds.

The invited teams will be notified directly and will be given a deadline to signup and pay for their participation. Should any of the invited teams decline their invitation, the invitation will be passed on to the next team in line.

Prize Money:

Total of €26.000 ($28,000)

1st €14,000 (~$15,000) – Bank transfer
2nd €6,000 (~$6,460) – Bank transfer
3rd €2,500 (~$2,690)– Bank transfer
4th €1,000 (~$1,075)– Cash
5th/6th €750 (~$807)– Cash
7th/8th €500 (~$538) – Cash

The first GSL group system:

Match 1: Team 1 vs. Team 4
Match 2: Team 2 vs. Team 3
Match 3: Winner of match 1 vs. winner of match 2 (The winner advances to the next group stage with Seed 1)
Match 4: Loser of match 1 vs. loser of match 2
Match 5: Winner of match 4 vs. loser of match 3 (The winner advances to the next group stage with Seed 2)
After the first group stage, we will begin the second GSL group stage. 16 teams will qualify to the A tournament, where they will face the 16 invited teams
Each group will consist of two 1st and two 2nd places from the first group stage.

The second GSL group system:

Match 1: Team 1 vs. Team 4
Match 2: Team 2 vs. Team 3
Match 3: Winner of match 1 vs. winner of match 2 (The winner advances to the next group stage with Seed 3)
Match 4: Loser of match 1 vs. loser of match 2
Match 5: Winner of match 4 vs. loser of match 3 (The winner advances to the next group stage with Seed 4)
After the second GSL group stage, we will move on to the third GSL group stage where we will include the 16 invited teams alongside the 16 qualifiers.

The A tournament group stage / third GSL group system:

BO3
Match 1: Team 1 vs. Team 4
Match 2: Team 2 vs. Team 3
Match 3: Winner of match 1 vs. winner of match 2
Match 4: Loser of match 1 vs. loser of match 2
Match 5: Winner of match 4 vs. loser of match 3
First and second place from each group will advance to Upper bracket, while third and fourth places from the group will advance to lower bracket in the playoffs.
After the group stage has been completed, we move on to the double elimination BO3 upper/BO1 lower playoffs.

Maps:

(Valve version)
– Dust 2
– Nuke
– Inferno
– Mirage
– Cache
– Overpass
– Cobblestone

Veto Process:

Map veto for a best-of-three match
For this type of match format both team captains must respect the following procedure:
• Team B removes one of the 7 maps;
• Team A removes one of the 6 remaining maps;
• Team A picks one of the 5 maps to be played as the first map;
• Team B picks one of the 4 maps;
• Team B removes one of the 3 remaining maps ;
• Team A removes one of the 2 remaining maps ;

The last map will be, if needed, played as third map.

Team A is the upper-team in bracket. The first match will start on the map which has been chosen by Team A The sides will be chosen via a knife round. The last map will only be played if both teams win one map during the match. For the overtime teams do not switch sides at the end of a match.

Dig managed to win some rounds later on in the first half, but TSM should be able to close this out quite handily given their 9 rounds on T side

TSM dismantled Dignitas...wow that was not even close.

They showed promise last time I saw them play (against Titan) and this was another strong showing.

VAC is the anti-cheat system deployed in CSGO. They mean "Vac ban" which is when a cheater gets banned and they spam it ironically (hopefully) whenever a pro does something cool or crazy good or gets lucky with a spam through a wall/smoke etc.
