There will be a BO7 where the winner will take $200.

The $200 prize pool is being funded by DingIt - they are a new streaming platform that is really awesome and who I am going to be doing a lot of work for!

Info about DingIt
DingIt is a new streaming platform. It uses an optimized streaming protocol, so end users see a lag-free and buffer-free stream using far less resources (including bandwidth) than any other live streaming or VOD site on the web.
More details here:
+ Show Spoiler +

Only in their 4th week of Beta, the platform is really only just getting up and running! During this time we would love to get your feedback and any requests or suggestions you may have.

DingIt was developed by OC Shield Ltd. an enterprise technology provider based in Europe. OC Shield financed the development and launch of DingIt and spun it off as an independent company - DingMedia Ltd. In addition to OC Shield financing, DingMedia is set to complete its first round of funding.

Nice, I'm kind of sceptical about this new streaming platform though. Twitch works well enough (for me) nowadays that I definitely prefer it over any service that requires a dedicated plugin to watch it.

Everyone's skeptical about new stuff - it's common enough. Having said that, the Player is worthwhile - the streams are great quality - and the Player essentially eliminates lag/buffering etc. Try it out and see what you think. If you don't like it, it's easy enough to uninstall!

Okay seriously. First you need to download some crappy intransparent something for no apparent reason (twitch works fine for everybody nowadays), with no instructions how to get rid of it ("easy enough to uninstall").
And then, when the stream starts you are required to sign up, are subtly pushed towards a payed membership and IT DOES NOT EVEN WORK?

Get your **** together. Please.

Sorry for the issues you have had! I took a look into it and can answer some of your points!

1) The reason we have the app is because DingIt uses a custom streaming protocol - this allows a higher quality stream on a lower bandwidth, as well as next to no buffering or lag!

2) We are actually updating the initial text to make clear how to remove the app - it is in "uninstall programs" and listed as Infinite HD by Octoshape. All of this will be included in the install text from tomorrow due to feedback from you!

The showmatch will only be on DingIt, as are the VODs. They are sponsoring this event as well as a huge amount within eSports in general.

Is there a reason you don't want to download the player?

Ya... I kind of wanted to watch the VODs, but I'm not downloading a completely unknown player to do it...

I assume this would be too much work but why not have a secondary player for people who don't want to install a program just to check out the stream? An in-browser player capped at 240p would give users a preview of the content and an incentive to download your player. Hell a twitch/mlg/hitbox.tv stream with info on higher quality streaming(IE your player) in the description or as a watermark might work.

Is there any reason your application is unable to export video to youtube? I understand the idea of faster streaming but that's not an issue for vods. Why do VODs have to be played through your application? Is there no HTML5 video player you could copy/paste that plays your video formats without the need for an external program?

What it comes down to is that DingIt is sponsoring this and it is in their interest that the footage is only available through their site, because it gives them more users.

It also means I won't be watching it as I think it's too much that I need to install a plugin for watching the stream in this day and age, but I suppose DingIt took that into account and figured that enough people would put up with their barrier to entry to make this worthwhile.

(Sure, it's just a few clicks to install the plugin, but in addition to that browsers have enough security problems as it is. I'm not gonna risk installing a plugin from a company I don't know just to watch a showmatch when most SC2 content is available via Flash or HTML5 players)

Yeah I also was stoked to watch this yesterday, until I realized that I had to install software to do it. In the end I just watched Catz stream.

We would love to have a way to not need the player, unfortunately, the stream works by using a different type of streaming protocol that wont work with the standard flash player! The benefit of this stream protocol though is it allows a much higher quality of stream, next to no buffering or delay and uses less bandwidth than other streaming sites.

Sorry you will be missing out, the games were really awesome!

We understand your concern though, which is why we are adding our Softpedia certificate on the download text that shows the player isn't spyware / adware / full of viruses etc. We are also clarifying the text on how to uninstall the player if you wanted to, it is super easy (just listed in uninstall a program as Infinite HD) but we want to make sure people know!

If you want to read the softpedia certificate that gives a bit more infomation about the player, you can find it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Infinite-HD.shtml

I couldn't manage to watch this without getting spoiled because the player's time bar (or however it's called) apparently doesn't show the time you're actually at (using Firefox). So if you try to skip only one minute ahead, you suddenly miss several games. I wanted to skip the break between game 1 and 2, and suddenly I was in game 5.

But I appreciate the effort that went into the site if it's better technology, and I didn't mind the plug-in.
