Edit - We actually just did something pretty cool, I normally have Sun/Tues off, so I took off Sat/Mon so I could spend the whole weekend with her (her having off Monday as well since it was a holiday [she works for the school system]);

She mentioned a while ago wanting to go to Haddonfield NJ, and even though New Jersey is the armpit of the USA, Haddonfield is a quaint little town, bunch of antique shops, and the leaves just starting to turn (she loves fall). We looked online for a place to stay, there was a nice little bed & breakfast there, but it was hella expensive, so she just kind've assumed we weren't gonna go...

So I pretty much said "We're going on a little trip" like Saturday, and wouldn't even tell her where we were going. She eventually figured out we were going to Haddonfield, and after a couple wrong turns by me (the fucked up NJ road system is yet ANOTHER reason why I hate the state), but was shocked as hell when we pulled up to the Inn we were looking at (a couple phone calls + trying to sound pitiful, got them to lower the ridiculous price to something only slightly ridiculous).

Turned out to be a beautiful weekend, weather was beautiful, skies clear, little bit chilly (she loves that), leaves falling, etc. Real kicker for her came when we were going out to just take a walk around the place, I threw a present for her onto the bed, so we went out, had a nice quiet walk, just taking it all in.

When we got back and I opened the door, she was just kind've silent when she saw it sitting there... first she was trying to figure out how the hell it got there, but she cautiously opened the gift, and after me fucking with her a bit (telling her I couldn't find the one she really wanted), she discovered an expensive pair of shoes she had been wanting for a very long time (I even got the size right and everything, woot!). Then something amazing happened... she was speechless. I had actually shut her up, she had NOTHING to say. Was like the happiest I'd ever seen her. And after she took a bath, wearing only a bath robe in front of a lit fireplace, me rubbing her feet, said it was the best weekend of her life, and was just *completely* in love with me.

Who says nerds can't be romantic. ^_^
