It's been like this for a long time in eSports; most sites run off the backs of a lot of volunteers. I can probably count on both hands how many people I know (in eSports) that were getting paid as writers. I was lucky enough to be paid for a period of time, but you're right that it ends up being a lot of work. Gets really hard to justify for some people without compensation, especially those where their heart isn't in it. I wish good luck to all the applicants.

Maybe if my interest is rekindled in HOTS, I could look into a position.

As a writer, I'd love to find a position at a prominent organization such as Team Liquid, but there's no way I'd do it for free. Not because of a lack of passion, but because I've worked in eSports for free for too long and no longer have time for it with a full time job. As well as I'm sure many people here feel the same, I also that know many people are available to help benefit eSports for the sake of the game. Best wishes in finding the most capable talents!

Most esports jobs happen when people do something from the heart, for a really long time, and do it damn well, and then someone decides to support them financially.

Due to other commitments I could only possibly commit to 1 recap/preview per week max. I guess that means I won't apply after all. Good luck everyone.
