Some Tough Questions For The NASL

In an interview between Slasher and HotBid it was mentioned that part of
eSports journalism includes asking "tough questions".

I have four tough questions for the NASL. Maybe someone can provide some answers.

#1. What was the attendance for the Season 4 Finals and How many paid full price?
At Season 3 plenty of people paid the full price for their tickets. For Season 4 coupons were flying every where. I can't see why any one in attendance would pay full price for their tickets. Did any one pay full price for their tickets? I suspect the answer is very few or none paid full price.

#2. What is the Prize Pool for Season 4?
Does it mention ANY WHERE on the NASL web site or ANY WHERE in writing BY AN NASL EMPLOYEE what the prize pool is for Season 4? The only thing I heard was a very brief mention verbally by one of the broadcasters at the start of the show. Nothing in writing any where. If any one can find something in writing directly from the NASL and not transcribed from some verbal comments by NASL employees I can alter this post.

I hope Liquid^Hero gets the prize money he is expecting. He earned it and put on one hell of a show.

#3. Will NASL Season 5 Happen?
Previous Seasons always included a long talk from the owner, Russell Pfister, where he discusses the next season and the successes that occurred during the previous season.
Possibly, Russell Pfister didn't want to have to stand in front of a camera and discuss the poor attendance at NASL S4. Is there even a tweet, post or press release mentioning Season 5?

Solid Answer: Seasons 5 and 6

#4. Why not return to "Toronto" ?
During the Slasher//Hotbid interview they blamed the poor turnout on the winter, the beach, IPL5, the full moon and the coming end of the Mayan Calendar.
How about this: NASLs best customers are its current and previous customers. The reason NASL attendance plummeted is that the NASL ignored its best customers. Out of the 4 events held the attendance was by far highest in the event held in "Toronto". I put the city name in quotes because it was held in a suburb of the city and not the city itself. Even saying "suburb" I use this term loosely, because Mississauga is a city of over 1 million. Russell acknowledged "Toronto" was the #1 city for the NASL in terms of online participation. Ironically, Russell's only criticism of the Season 3 show was that they needed a bigger venue so that it could hold 5,000+ fans.

Despite being disorganized at times, if Season 4 was the final one for NASL, I think everyone in their organization can be proud of what they accomplished.

Liquid'Hero's 1st place prize was 30k and Violet's 2nd place was 15k. Liquipedia has had this information out for quite a while now, and the prize winnings were often mentioned during the casts themselves.

Total Prizepool for the Grandfinals was 60k, but that's a VERY poor representation of how much money was actually won by the competitors during the Season itself, which was around 5k per division... with 5 divisions, not to mention the opens... NASL4 has without a doubt the BEST prizepool distribution for the players for any event yet.
A time to live.

S4 was great. The casters put on a really good show, the team had overall a pretty good dynamic and production value was its best yet for the NASL. There are a few organizational issues that need to be resolved. For people on the east coast, the games start too late in the evening and its frustrating that they keep all the stars matches in the end, when a lot of people can't watch them. Their choice of venues for their finals is a bit flabbergasting and its sad to see it end with less than the bang it deserves.

Many events have ignored Canada, despite the potential that exists there. NASL showcased it, and ESL did one in Montreal back in the day. Hopefully IPL manages to get one of their four events next year in the Toronto area.

But these are some good questions regardless.

#2 Prize pool information is on liquipedia. #4 I don't think its a good strategy to host events consecutively in one place.

Just FYI - I was one of many working on the NASL4 page; We do _not_ have a reference for the prizepool on the page. In fact, several contributors attempted to get information on the prizepool before the tournament started, but failed. The numbers on Liquipedia are based on what has been mentioned on stream by casters as the tournament was going on.

That's exactly how I read them. NASL Season 5 and 6 have been confirmed. Hero Won 30k. This is a witch-hunt of nothing.

A tough question to the OP could be: Do you wanna point out how much better of a place Canada is to host an event?

Not necessarily, but wrong stuff hardly ever gets on LP, and if it does its rectified very quickly. I seem to remember a debate on this very topic of NASL prizepool in the Liquipedia irc chat, and what we know and don't know. Chances are its true if liquipedia says so and has said so for a time.

NASL has gone in done good. I'll be paying for S5 and if the event is nearby I would attend it. But alas, that is unlikely.

"Hey guys i have some tough questions for the NASL..."
...
"now i am going to immediately answer them and make substantial and unfounded claims based on feeling rather then any facts"

This is a garbage post full of vitriol, if you are going to ask the "hard questions" don't pretend to know the answers when you obviously havent got the slightest fucking clue.
