White House communications director Hope Hicks told House investigators that her job sometimes requires telling “white lies” for President Donald Trump, according to The New York Times.
CNN later confirmed the Times report.
The Times said Hicks made the statement during private testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
The reports did not elaborate on what Hicks considers to be “white lies.” However, the Times said that “after extended consultation with her lawyers,” Hicks claimed she hadn’t lied over matters related to the Russia investigation.
Hope Hicks is a 28 year old former model who worked for Ivanka Trump before becoming White House Communications Director. Nothing could go wrong.

Mueller approves Gates’ request to end GPS monitoring, more travel
Special counsel Robert Mueller has signed off on giving additional freedoms to Rick Gates in exchange for the former Donald Trump campaign deputy’s cooperation in the wider Russia investigation.
In a court document filed Wednesday in federal district court, Gates’ attorney, Thomas Green, said Mueller did not oppose his client’s request to remove the electronic GPS monitoring device that Gates was forced to wear following his indictment last October on multiple charges, including money laundering and making false statements.
Noting Gates “is now obliged to coordinate certain activities” with Mueller as part of the plea deal, Green also requested U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson end court-imposed restrictions on Gates’ travel from his home in Richmond to court proceedings and other legal meetings in Washington.
“These obligations require his presence in Washington, D.C., often on short notice, and also require frequent consultation” with Mueller and his Washington-based investigators, Green told the court. “In the past these arrangements have been delayed and made more complicated by the need to obtain permission to travel.”
Gates agreed to a plea deal last Friday with Mueller that stipulates he must cooperate “in any and all matters” that the special counsel’s office decides are “relevant.” In his motion on Wednesday, Green explained that Gates faces “very serious consequences” if he violated that agreement or skipped any court proceedings.
“The advantages that attach to strict compliance with that agreement, and the extraordinary disincentives to violating that agreement, are more than sufficient to guarantee Mr. Gates’ appearance at any scheduled proceeding to include the date of sentencing,” Green wrote, noting that Mueller’s office “does not oppose this motion.”

Seems to me Gates must have given something pretty damn good for Mueller to be acting so favorably to him.

Probably related to the recent leap towards Trump the investigation has taken with respect to the beauty pagent and wikileaks.

It astonishes me how slow this system is sometimes. I'm perfectly aware of why it's slow, but frustrating nonetheless.
Also if it begins on 17 sept, I really really doubt it'll be finished by the midterms

I think phrasing what Mr Trump said as "discriminating against the mentally ill" is deceitful and indicative of that Twitter user's "liberal agenda" to paint Trump in an even worse light than the one that surrounds him naturally.

His 'Liberal Agenda'? To me it reads more like an opinion on the interaction between the 2nd amendment and mental illness then a politician statement.
Aka he is an idiot who thinks mentally ill people should have no problems getting a gun.

It's going to be interesting to see the response to him asking for people to come down on the "strong side" with regards to handling the gun issue.

That stats don’t back up the focus on mental illness that seems to come after these shootings. The mentally ill overwhelming non-violent and far more likely to be the victim of violent crime. Most folks working in the industry would love more tools, but say that the people seeking treatment unlikely to ever be the cause of one of these shooting.

I was more focusing on the second tweet the first just happened to be mixed in. As far as I am aware of in the US however the discriminating agains the mentally ill argument has traditionally been a more NRA/right wing argument because they view it as infringing on second amendment rights.

I feel like this is actually really huge. I am sad companies are needing to be the ones leading these efforts.

That is incredible and a sign the pressure is coming from more then just self identifing Democrats and gun control advocates.
Also, this is a completely accurate statement. Obama suggested they clung to their guns and they lost their minds, claiming he was mocking them and their guns. Today we saw a church service with AR-15s, bullet crowns and people crying about losing them.

how does that walmart decision interact with federal and state laws on age discrimination in sales? is age just not a protected category for that? I know they couldn' tdecide to not sell to blacks; so I guess if they're announcing (and that's an if sinc ethat was just an ap report, rather than walmart saying it directly) that they're no tselling to under 21, that's probably legal as walmart surely has a large legal team. just not familiar with the legalities on that re: age

Walmart's move is definitely them reading the atmosphere. Die-hard supporters aren't going to boycott Walmart, considering its size and reach, and people under the age of 21 aren't big spenders in the first place.
There really isn't any reason for them to not make this move. They get some good PR goodwill and they don't get caught infront of the truck shitting all over companies like FedEx right now.

It helps that Trump truly does not give 2 shits about guns. I think his existing model in his head regarding how exactly guns are purchased and which guns can be purchased was wrong. And now that he realizes what is actually the case, he's like "wtf??"

I'd like to see rural America try to boycott Walmart. Cletus is going to need to make sure he's got a full tank of gas in his 1992 F150. It's a long drive to somewhere else.

You're still going to be able to buy them off the internet whenever you want and I'm sure cletus is going to know a local gun store .
If anything I would expect people to be worried that this will lower people's pressure on congress to put it into law.
