Any program that is created for the homeless needs to take that into account. The homeless population treats their city exactly as well as the city treats them.

There are always bad actors in any community, but most homeless are just trying to exist in the world. I won’t comment on the local problems in Portland. But if Worcester MA can have a good relationship with its homeless community, city can do it.

Holy hell what a shitty UI... One would think more money would be spent for additional protocols not just a text link.
|
I bet this was top of the line when it was made. Nobody ever upgrades for UX these days
|
the guy who made that probably made a bomb myspace page tho
at least put the "hey a nuke is gonna hit us" button separate from the others, geez.
|
Just click to send it out no confirmation... legitimately terribly design.
|
The UI is fine, why waste money on making something look pretty that gets used 1 minute per month or something. Ballistic missile attack just shouldn't be in the same category as Amber alert and tests. And they should probably add a 'are you sure you want to wake up the entire island' window
|
This is going to end up in so many textbooks.
|
You would think it would have a “are you sure you want to send MESSAGE WARNING OF REAL ASS ATTACK, THIS IS NOT A DRILL” screen before sending the message out.

In California, there's open primaries where the top-two vote getters appear on the general ballot for Senate.
They were both Democrats.

Exhibit A next time people wonder where govt got its bad rep. And then the Trumpmania tweets about how it's really his fault that Hawaii did a bad job of it. Sigh.
But you see Trump must have been informed immediately of the fake threat, so it's his fault for not telling people ... The idiocy cycle continues.

Note that many conservatives have outright called for her execution and were very upset with Obama for ending her sentence. I find it very sickening. If I have to be honest, someone's response to Chelsea Manning is an immediate tell for me as to whether I agree with their politics or not. Some think she's a hero, others think she's a traitor, and I think in the end it comes down to whether you see the US government as a force of good in the world and whether you personally identify with them. I do not. The fact she was tortured and vilified for exposing the US government plays into that.
I don't necessarily support her senate race. I haven't looked into her current positions, but she's certainly not very likely to win and of course she has a very scandalous past. I have an aversion to, say, idolizing people as opposed to actions. I admire Manning for her actions in the past, but I honestly don't know if she would be a sound candidate. And on some level I don't want to find out.
I think I tend to agree with you on here.
Also to me a senate run seems like an odd choice; like someone who's been involved in something political, but hasn't really done any sort of leadership or governing seems like a decent fit for a representative, but I kinda expect more qualifications from a senator.
But at the same time Cardin does seem like a crappy politician that deserves to be challenged.

Was anyone reasonable saying that? I saw a lot of criticism for Trump never commenting on the issue (at least not in a timely manner) and the fact that he was golfing (again) during the whole thing, but nothing that blamed him directly.

Does Bill Kristol ever tweet anything of substance, or is he just a hype-monger?
On the Hawaii issue, from the report I heard, there WAS a "Are you sure you want to do this?" popup window confirmation. However, it wasn't made clear if the same window pops up when they do a drill, and therefore would be completely ignored and part of the autopilot execution of the drill.

but of course someone somewhere will say otherwise; and the right-wing outrage machine makes a point of finding thsoe statements whereever they are no matter how obscure and pushing them out loudly so as to make the other side look bad. which then makes people reading from thsoe media think such thinsg are more common than they actually are.
