You asked why it's so hard to understand that your judgement isn't racially motivated. The answer is: cause you're using the same terminology as people whose judgement is racially motivated, in a situation where people whose judgement is racially motivated would use said terminology. It is therefore perfectly rational of us to assume you are one of these people, cause you are talking and behaving exactly like them.
Got it?

I dunno what world you live in where posting a video of black people beating up a white guy with the question: "Is this a hate crime?" doesn't qualify as bringing up the race topic.

BLM's actions are ok, violence is not BLM and is not ok. My point is stop making stuff up about BLM and focus on the people being paid to cause them to exist. The people draining 100's of millions of dollars out of local tax coffers to pay out settlements for murders and manslaughter, etc...

I don't know if you're unaware what the B in BLM stands for. Perhaps you were referring to the Bureau of Land Management. Actually, you know what, I'm done giving you the benefit of the doubt. You're a racist. Finally. Of all the things GH and I disagree one. This is our common ground. I'm just surprised it to everyone else so long to get here. Frankly i would still be giving him the benefit of the doubt because he didnt specifically say BLM. But I suppose at this point you can say you know what he meant,. No, he did specifically say it. "mayors where BLM is wreaking havoc needs to grow a pair and clear the vermin out." BLM were quite clearly the vermin being referred to there. Indeed. There is quite a difference between saying those people are "acting like" vermin and literally calling them vermin. I'd say that's all the difference when it comes to dehumanizing. And anyone complaining about safe spaces might want to re-read TL Commandment #1. So when Hillary chose a basket of deplorables instead of their actions, that was when you also decided it was dehumanizing when she said it. The difference for me is if you excuse one group for their politics.

I mean, do we just define racism differently?
Ignoring race and looking past skin colors at the humans behind them is supposed to be the antithesis to racism
Why is this suddenly a revolutionary idea?

The problem is that terms like monkey is rarely applied to white people, even when they are doing bad things. It is however, very common as an insult to non white people by those who dislike whatever race they are insulting. So yes, using terms like vermin, monkey, etc are racially charged because they aren't used against white people and in fact have been used against blacks and other minorities for a long time. This should be well known. Monkey especially has been used for ages as a slur against black people.
I put a question to those defending the use of animal terms here: Why did your brain pick those words specifically? Do you think you are exempt from the unconscious biases we all have? There are things we aren't aware of that influence how and what conclusions we arrive at when decision making.
Also as a side note, yet again another toxic argument sprang up because some video of shitheads doing bad things. Can't we all agree that there are extremely bad people out there and that they are members of all possible kinds of groups humans form? Right/Left/Rich/Poor/Man/Woman/Police/Civilian/Politician whatever. They exist and will continue to do shitty things. Posting a few examples as some gotcha is simply a lazy way to make a point.

Hell, you might as well say that nigger is just a word, just two syllables created by pushing air through your vocal chords and mouth. So how can a sound, when directed at a specific person, be racist?
It's racist to call black people monkeys because of the history of treating them as subhumans which was composed of a whole lot of shitty science telling people that black people are biologically inferior to whites and as such should be enslaved and exploited. Calling a white guy a monkey doesn't mean anything because we're all agreed that whites are, at the very least, just as good as all the other humans. There is no historical context there. Calling a black guy a monkey is a direct reference to the persistent belief that black people are subhuman. But you know all this. You're not an idiot, you just pretend to be one when you get called out. Nobody is unaware that for a good 300 years people insisted that blacks were a lesser animal while enslaving and exploiting them.
|
Yeah, monkey is a term which has a history of being used to refer to black people specifically as subhumans, animals, etc. So maybe now that we've established that we can agree either not to use it or that continued deliberate usage is willfully being a twat because ignorance isn't really an excuse anymore.
