RACIST FILTH!
Oh thread, never change strawman and lie about what was actually said and done to look better? par for the course. improvement happens when you act better than the other side. As always: Name calling =/= dehumanizing. Vermin was used because monkeys would be a little to telling. It's okay to dehumanize Trump voters but not criminals got it. Man you are bad at this. Trump voters were not dehumanized. A deplorable is not an animal, its a human. It also not really a noun from what I can tell, but whatever. They just got made fun of in a gaff, not called monkey, rats or apes.

Deplorable means they're shitty humans. Humans who you deplore. Deploring is a thing a human does towards an act, actor or human created state of affairs which they condemn as being contrary to good or moral conduct. Nobody ever called a bad dog deplorable, I think sentience, either of the deplorable individual or of the people who allowed the deplorable thing, is probably a prerequisite because without it you can't really act in a shitty way. There is an implicit moral judgement there.
Vermin means non human parasitic creatures which need to be exterminated. If you're at the point where you're calling black people vermin something has probably gone wrong. Which it has in the cause of xDaunt. He has clearly lost the plot since Trump became candidate.
Deplorable recognizes the central humanity of the people who are deplorable or who are doing the deplorable things or who created the deplorable conditions by essentially arguing that they should know better. Rats don't come in good or evil, rats just come in rats, you just poison them.

And more importantly, in the very speech where Clinton talked about the deplorables, she said half of Trump supporters are deplorable and half of them are just fed up with the system, and she said we should try and reach them. In the very speech that GGTemplar uses to create an equivalence between vermin and deplorable, Clinton demonstrates that she doesn't deserve to be associated with this through this equivalence by being specific about which people she thinks are deplorable: those who are attracted by the racist rhetoric.

Pseudoints get so offended when you call them out on their hypocrisy
I thought you guys liked calling things as they are? I honestly don't care about Hillary calling Trump voters deplorables I think the entire thing is just standard run-of-the-mill fair political game on both sides. I just think it's hilarious watching the hypocrisy at work in her supporters here
The criminals in that video are not acting like humans they are acting like violent animals attacking innocent people over irrational hatred and emotions
If you don't want to get called an animal don't act like an animal. It has nothing to do with race.
If the races in that video were reversed I don't think I would hesitate in calling the criminals monkeys or animals or vermin. It has nothing to do with their race and everything to do with how they're acting and what they're doing
You're really trying to turn 'monkey' 'vermin' 'animal' into taboo insults because of political correctness?
This thread is so fake. The criminals have become the victims and the innocents the criminals in this crazy crazy world we live in
|
Like the entire 'humanized insults' vs dehumanized insults' holy shit this thread is becoming a literal safe space
Talk about a bullshit semantics argument
'Let's stop our criticism of the violent criminals in that video to ensure we don't take our judgment of them too far.
yes they're violent criminals but we don't want to hurt their feelings by calling them vermin because that's just uncivilized and cruel'
Give me a break

There is only one person playing victim here. Someone needs their safe space to call black people animals, rather than criminals.

And before anyone jumps on this for the 12321511 time, It was wrong of her to say half. She should have said some or a few. Because that would be true. I believe everyone should be in agreement on that.
It might even be half but erring on the side of caution in these sorts of statements is better. That was a mistake, one that may just have been semantic, but semantics matter and I believe she admitted she was wrong to say so. Not much more you can do beyond that.

Do you think you would have received the same push back if you called the people in the video deplorable? I'm not sure what discussion you were hoping to create by posting the video.

I'd be very comfortable saying half. But yeah, she's doing politics, so you're right.

It's not blackness, it's the rioting, looting, assaults, and arson. If you want to make this about race it's somehow suggesting these are aspects of black identity, which is absurd. Surely you can argue how arsonists are people too without making it a racial issue.

Lol?
I'm going to say those criminals are acting like fucking monkeys.
I don't care if they're black or white. What they did was criminal
How about how they dehumanized the human they just fucking assaulted? Do you give a shit about that?
Honestly you people are absurd. I'll call anyone who acts like a monkey a monkey. It has nothing to do with race

I consider attacking and assaulting someone a far more pressing 'dehumanization' than name-calling

The irony of all this is the very people who think the dehumanizing language is referring to black people are actually the ones who have those prejudiced ideas to begin with. Change the color of their skin to purple or green, still animals that have abandoned their humanity. They are redeemable however, it would take some self reflection.

Edit: And we have reached the height of the discussion: where the people pointing the racism are, in fact, the real racist. Good job guys, we went through discussions of racism on the internet 101 in record time.

I think the interesting thing here is that there was a clear consensus that the activities in the video were wrong and the participants were criminal. The 'outrage' is that some people are upset they are being challenged about calling those people animals.

We also saw you call white people monkeys every time they rioted against the labour law in France.
Except we didn't.
